Yuri was barely older than Trixxie the first time she had met Zory too. She was the only living relative Yuri even still had left who had passed proper authority to facilitate her ascension. Yuri's grandmother, the late Lady Meddari, had taken Yuri in at the age of five. While Lady Meddari had raised Yuri to the best of her abilities, there was only so much she knew. Yuri's father had already died in the last clash with Zimiiria before she was even born and her mother had taken most of their secrets to the grave only a handful of years later. For better or for worse, Zory always knew far more about everything everyone was capable of than they ever stood to figure out on their own.
She wasn't just some kind of guru or an icon, she was the beacon of peace Yuri could never be. Zory's followers were more than capable of handling themselves in just about any kind of fight better than most, but they often found creative ways to avoid it ever having to come to that. Yuri's people had been on the frontlines of too many wars to know how to do anything but react with more violence than Zory wouldn't hesitate to prove was not required. The way they meddled with time to stop some conflicts before they really started to pick up the pace was the true calling card of Zory's touch.
"Really gone instead now, huh?" Yuri noted as she looked up to the sky and eyed the star that belonged to Vitale.
It was dimmer in some senses than it usually was. As she took in the faint glow that was definitely not shining just for her in response, she figured it was only logical Zory had sent him away with Ozzy for his own good. Anyone could have stepped in to pull him, she wanted Vitale out of play and Yuri knew better than to argue at this point.
Although Yuri had remained positioned out on Cosmastelli Street several blocks from the famous Grand Central Park she had never set foot in, she simply couldn't bring herself to get into the middle of it before she was absolutely sure she had to. She wasn't like the others, she could move all sorts of space, but she couldn't split so much as a second of time even if any lives depended on it. She couldn't help but feel inadequate as she used what pull she did have as a seer to at least see what was going on nearly a mile away from her. She could see it as clearly as if she was already standing there although she was still banking on needing to intrude at all.
Zory was more than capable of handling herself on the fly and Yuri honestly couldn't have held a candle to Ozzy in a real tussle even if she had needed to. Whatever stunt Vitale was trying to pull in mentioning marriage again out of the blue had probably worked precisely as he designed it to as all of his tricks always did. She had already been very clear with him that wasn't ever going to be an option without Zory's blessing and she knew for a fact Zory would never give them it.
"Auntie Yuri?" Ryu's voice reached her ears despite the fact he was positioned on the other side of town.
The connectedness having access to the shadow whether you were dabbling with them or not was better than comms in most worlds. Yuri wasn't the seasoned traveler Vitale was, but nothing she'd ever bothered to read about had ever conflicted with any of the wondrous things he'd taught her about. Being able to talk openly as if you were still standing beside one another was just one of the many things she had altered abut how the Yin-Yang dynasty ran general ops like this. So much had changed since she began dating Vitale, she wasn't even sure where to begin with consoling the ever prominent tone of worry in Ryu's voice at that juncture.
"I'm okay, I'm just worried." She said aloud.
Once upon a time he would have asked at least five more additional question in follow up, but Ryu elected to leave it at that. He was barely older than Trixxie, but he was already a full-fledged operative on multiple cases as of late. Although he was only nine, he knew fully well what he was doing when it came to surveillance. His cute little face had already gotten him out of trouble more than once on the natural assumption that he was an innocent kid who had nothing to do with any of what had just transpired in his vicinity.
He was fast, even faster than Trixxie in a pinch. Although they hadn't officially met yet, he had been tasked with running point on guarding her more than once. Ryu was also far too smart for his own good too, perhaps even smarter than Ozzy had been at his age. It made his potential virtually unmatched. Whatever Vitale knew about Trixxie's whereabouts, Ryu had likely already known about it first. He was on a different level of seer entirely, not at all unlike Zory, capable of both reading and manipulating the future better than Vitale could.
