Victoria was utterly shocked. She put down the guest list and turned around. "A small wedding?" She clutched her chest, her voice rising an octave. "My dear child, you are marrying into the Harrington family. This family has a history of over a hundred years in Britain. Every heir's wedding is a major event in high society. If it's too small, what will people say?"
Sophie didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Looking at Victoria's extremely serious face, she suddenly felt a wave of dizziness.
She remembered ten years ago, when Victoria had sat across from her with the same unquestionable tone, saying, "You are not worthy of my son."
And now, this noblewoman who had once been so critical of her was going all out, worrying over every detail for her wedding.
"But I just want to marry Ned," Sophie said softly but clearly.
