Chapter 45 - Chapter 45 – The Two-Faced Sir Becks

The situation in Cuckoo Town was resolved rather quickly.Through Sir Becks's connections, Ren managed to liquidate the Bloodhand Gang's remaining assets and goods.

In total, he obtained ten million Beli in cash, a single-masted vessel, and enough provisions to last half a month at sea.

Becks's trading company took a small commission from the sale as profit, and the generous Ren even spent several days helping them receive and catalogue the Bloodhand Gang's fixed assets alongside Zoro.

After all, those "fixed assets" were rightfully Ren's spoils of war—he and Zoro had personally wiped out the gang's headquarters.

The spoils were well-earned; no one dared to raise an objection.

And if anyone had tried, Ren would've likely shown up at their doorstep with a blazing new Dragon's Breath, letting them experience what true "enthusiastic persuasion" meant.Unfortunately, this lawless island didn't have any fools like that left.

Idiots didn't last long here—like Jick's group, who had recently met their end at Ren's hands.

Later on, Ren encountered some of the Bloodhand Gang's surviving branch members who tried to reclaim the inheritance—over twenty elites and dozens more thugs from allied crews. They came armed with rifles, even dragging along a cannon for good measure.

But once the fighting started, they realized their target wasn't so simple.

A monster who feared no bullets—Ren—and a swordsman strong enough to cleave cannonballs in half—Zoro.

The fight ended before it even began. They scattered in panic, fleeing faster than they could jump into the sea.

Unfortunately for them, the sharks mistook their frantic splashing for a feast.

And though humans weren't usually on a shark's menu, each bite of blood drew more sharks from miles around.Every curious shark took a test bite, followed by another, and another.

Let's just say their final screams were… unforgettable.

A few merchants watching from the shore later gossiped about how tragically entertaining the scene had been.

During that battle, Ren also put the Doran Sword's vampiric trait to use, draining life force to heal himself. His health bar ticked upward like this: HP +1, HP +1, HP +1...

This method of restoring vitality through stolen life force unexpectedly counteracted the strain of the Sharingan.By the time the accumulated life energy was depleted, the eye's burden had significantly eased.

And so, Ren began using the Desire Compass to locate the Bloodhand Gang's true treasure.

He eventually found it on a deserted island near Cuckoo Island—hidden behind a one-way treasure cave filled with layered traps and a Dragon-Sealing Gate.Entering required a key and a very specific mechanism.

Zagu hadn't lied; without him, finding it would've been nearly impossible.

But Ren didn't play by conventional rules. He had neither the key nor the unlocking method—but he did have money.

With "financial power" as his weapon, he bought tons of gunpowder from Cuckoo Town and blasted the tunnel wide open. Then he hired laborers to clear the debris until the treasure was his.

Man-made structures, no matter how sturdy or trapped, could always be torn down—the only downside was the time. The whole operation took five days.

During that period, stubborn remnants of the Bloodhand Gang, unwilling to give up, rallied a few pirate crews to attack.Apparently, they figured if muskets didn't work, cannons might.

Unfortunately for them, they still underestimated Ren and Zoro.

By the end, four pirate ships—each flying a different flag—and a total of one hundred sixty-two pirates remained forever buried on that deserted beach.

The wrecked ships lay stranded along the shore, their masts hung with corpses swinging in the sea breeze like grotesque scarecrows. The sight was so eerie it turned the entire coastline into something out of a ghost story.

Still, thanks to those "dancing pirates," Ren didn't have to pay the laborers with his own funds—he covered all expenses by selling the pirates' valuables.

During the cleanup, the Doran Sword drank deeply of blood again, replenishing Ren's health with temporary vitality.

He was so moved he almost erected a monument for them.

Such kind souls—traveling all this way just to deliver supplies!

The only problem was… too many came sliding in at once, and Ren almost couldn't "digest" them all.

When it was all over, Sir Becks's trading company handled the sale of the treasure and loot from the pirates. The total value exceeded twenty-five million Beli.

Ren rounded his share down to twenty-three million, leaving the rest as profit for the company.Even with overwhelming strength, he wasn't the type to squeeze partners dry.

Mutual benefit was the surest way to avoid unnecessary trouble.

Cuckoo Town – Docks

"Mr. Ren, the supplies, maps, and all other necessities for your voyage are ready,"said Sir Becks nervously, standing on the pier in full noble attire.

Gone was his previous arrogance—he spoke with forced politeness, carefully choosing every word.

Ren chuckled."See, Sir Becks? You can talk like a decent person."

It was a light, teasing farewell between them.Don't misunderstand—this wasn't friendship or reconciliation. They simply saw value in maintaining a cordial parting, keeping potential ties open.

The Gus had long departed Cuckoo Island, carrying the noble youths to their proper destination. With Captain Saren gone, Sir Becks had to show up in person.

After all, his trading company had profited greatly from this partnership, so courtesy demanded a public appearance.

Rumor had it Becks was the product of a bit too much inbreeding among the nobility—a "love child" whose brain wasn't exactly first-rate.Still, with the right guidance, he wasn't completely hopeless.

He'd clearly realized that he couldn't threaten Ren, while Ren could easily threaten him.So as long as cooperation brought him profit, Becks was more than happy to play along.

That was the power of individual strength. When you're strong enough, even idiots are forced to stay calm and polite—because they can't win, and they don't want a beating.

At Ren's teasing remark, Becks's noble pride flared for a moment—then immediately died.He plastered on a wide smile, bowing repeatedly.

"Y-yes, of course, Mr. Ren! You're absolutely right!"

Your fists are big. You're always right.

Nearby, the swordsman Span watched the single-masted ship rocking on the waves, admiration shining in his eyes.Leaning lazily against the rail was a green-haired swordsman—Zoro.

Upon learning that this was the famous "Pirate Hunter" and that his employer Ren had worked with Sir Becks,Span had hurried to apologize and even treated Zoro to drinks.Unfortunately, Zoro's massive appetite had cost him a small fortune.
