The supporting fleet quickly took control of the space station and defensive platforms in the void.
The ships docked in low orbit, using gunships to deploy troops into the various cities of Vitoria to suppress the rebellion.
At this moment, the capital of the Vitoria system was in utter chaos.
Gunfire and riots were everywhere.
The rebellion had swept across the planet, and fanatical cultists were setting fires and killing people everywhere.
Gangs, cultists, and the Planetary Defence Force were all engaged in a chaotic melee.
The nobles had already hidden themselves away in their fortresses.
Large numbers of troops were gathered here, defending these useless fools.
Under the planetary governor's command, the Planetary Defence Force stood by and watched as chaos and slaughter erupted elsewhere.
Stepping out of a gunship and onto a Hive City spaceport platform, Calgar's face was filled with anger.
He had already seen some of the situation in the city during the landing.
Statues of the Emperor had been pulled down, and murals of the Four-Armed Emperor were spray-painted all over the city.
The rebels had captured many streets and areas, and large numbers of Imperial citizens had been brutally murdered.
Numerous trembling dignitaries stood to the side, not daring to speak.
Only the planetary governor summoned the courage to stand beside this legendary hero of the Imperium.
"My lord," the planetary governor chose his words carefully, "those damned vermin have betrayed the Emperor, betrayed the Primarch. Their crimes are unforgivable. Please cleanse them and restore peace to this world."
Calgar looked at him with cold eyes, his volcanic anger suppressed within his majestic and powerful body.
"Your incompetence is astonishing. You were supposed to maintain this world, and now you've made a complete mess of it."
"My lord, they rebelled. They refused to accept the Emperor's glory. This matter doesn't have much to do with me. I have done my best," the planetary governor said.
"Your wastefulness and incompetence are the reasons for all of this, and now you say it has nothing to do with you?" Calgar raised his voice, then he looked at the many dignitaries. "You will all be punished because you are incapable of doing your jobs, yet you are unwilling to hand them over to more talented people."
The many dignitaries were scared pale, and even the planetary governor was stunned.
It shouldn't be like this.
Why isn't he affirming their loyalty to the Emperor and the Primarch, praising them, and encouraging them to continue ruling this planet?
As soon as he arrived, he wanted to dismiss them!
This is too much.
"My lord, we fought for the Imperium, and this is the result we get??" The planetary governor's pig-like face turned crimson as he roared and shouted incessantly.
"That's right, my lord."
"You can't do this. I've been wounded for the Imperium, I've shed blood for the Imperium!"
"My lord, you cannot do this."
Following the planetary governor's lead, the many dignitaries all started shouting.
Their eyes were filled with resentment.
How could their power and noble status be taken away?
"A bunch of useless wretches," Calgar's gaze grew colder, and his tone became sharper.
If he weren't concerned about the consequences, he would have probably executed these guys directly.
Feeling the anger contained in his tone, the many dignitaries dared not speak carelessly anymore.
Their eyes flickered as they looked at Calgar.
Some even timidly took a few steps back.
"My lord, may I say a few words?" A woman's voice rang out.
Calgar looked in the direction of the voice and saw a woman.
"What do you want to say?"
"Please allow me to explain the reason for this rebellion, and perhaps you can make a clear decision," the woman looked at Calgar, neither humble nor arrogant.
Calgar frowned and looked at the woman.
From her attire, she appeared to be a rather wealthy noblewoman.
The data-slate in his hand showed that she had only joined the council less than a month ago.
"Continue," Calgar looked at the woman, gesturing for her to continue.
Seeing Calgar's attitude, the planetary governor and others frantically gave the woman meaningful glances.
They hoped she could find a good reason to deceive him, so they could continue to rule this system.
Anna glanced at those fools, a slight smile playing on her lips.
A bunch of idiots.
You are destined to be my stepping stones.
"Actually, this rebellion was intentionally instigated by the governor and many councillors, and I was the one who carried it out," Anna said. As soon as she said this, the faces of the planetary governor and many dignitaries turned pale.
They just stared at Anna, and their eyes conveyed one message.
Are you out of your mind?
How could you say something like this?
Calgar looked at Anna, his gaze filled with anger, enough to burn her to ashes.
"Do you know what your actions represent? I can declare you Excommunicate Traitoris right now! You damned traitors, how dare you do this??"
"My lord, she's lying! She's lying! We really didn't do anything like that!" The planetary governor was so scared that his flabby body trembled, and he was completely distraught.
The other dignitaries were the same.
Excommunicate Traitoris, their entire families wouldn't be enough to pay for it.
"We didn't do that!! That crazy woman's actions have nothing to do with us."
"That's right, absolutely nothing to do with us, she did it all by herself."
"We are being framed! We are all loyalists, my lord. You must believe us, don't be deceived by these villains."
The planetary governor and many dignitaries all spoke up.
Calgar just looked at Anna. Her expression was calm, not at all like the other nobles who were terrified and flustered.
It was clear she was confident and certain that he wouldn't kill her.
"Continue," Calgar said.
"There is a reason for doing this. The reason I incited the rebellion is because this world was invaded," Anna said.
"Invasion? What invasion?"
"The vanguard of the tyranid swarm, the genestealers who are skilled at corrupting entire worlds. They established multiple free cults, attempting to weaken humanity's resistance as much as possible and turn the entire Vitoria system into food for the swarm."
"I received the information and conducted an investigation. However, the corruption was shocking, and there were even shadows of some high-ranking officials. Out of necessity, I could only guide this rebellion to expose them. But I didn't expect the corruption to be much deeper than I had imagined, which led to the rebellion completely spiraling out of control."
Anna's words made the planetary governor's eyes light up.
If things were as Anna said, they not only had no fault but also had merit.
"Yes, yes, it was all to draw out those tyranid genestealers," the planetary governor quickly chimed in.
Calgar looked at the planetary governor's obese body, not concealing his anger at all.
Could someone like this possibly have done such a thing?
"The rebellion was never my intention. It was only so that those who had been corrupted could be quickly exposed. I just didn't expect things to be much worse than I had imagined, and I also couldn't control the overall situation, which led to the complete loss of control."
Anna took out a data-slate. "This contains all my findings, my lord, the entire sequence of events, and information about those free cults."
A servitor took it and handed it to Calgar.
After spending a short time, Calgar confirmed the authenticity of the information.
"What is your name?" Calgar asked.
"Anna Cathelias," Anna said respectfully.
"Very good, Anna Cathelias, are you willing to serve the Emperor and the Primarch?"
Calgar's tone was solemn.
"It is my greatest honor, my lord. I was born for this," Anna said.
"Very well, in the name of the Emperor, in the name of Guilliman, you shall become the ruler of the Vitoria system, responsible for coordinating refugee evacuation and logistical support. Can you do this?"
Calgar said.
"I will give it my all," Anna said.
"You are free to choose the assistants you need, those you believe can help you, and you can dismiss anyone you deem a burden," Calgar said.
As a War Lord and one of the highest-ranking commanders of the expeditionary fleet, he possessed such authority.
"I understand. I will immediately reorganize the bureaucratic system of the Vitoria system to ensure it contributes to the Primarch's cause."
"Very good," Calgar nodded and said, "I hope that after dealing with this planet's rebellion, I will see a completely new team, one that can faithfully execute the Primarch's will."
Having said that, Calgar stepped away.
The other primaris space marines also followed the War Lord.
They would be deployed to suppress the rebellion on the planet Vitoria.
"Lady Anna," the planetary governor sidled up, a fawning smile on his face, "Considering I once recognized your potential, you won't take away my power, right?"
"Of course not," Anna said.
The planetary governor's heart immediately bloomed with joy, and he wished he could kneel down and lick Anna's boots.
As long as she didn't take away his power, he would respect her as much as he respected the Emperor.
Other nobles also gathered around, hoping Anna wouldn't take away their power.
They expressed that they would forever remember her kindness.
"I certainly won't take away your power," Anna smiled and said loudly.
As the many nobles showed delight, she slowly added a sentence.
"It is the great Primarch, the great Lord Calgar, who has taken away your power. I am powerless to do anything about it."
As soon as these words were spoken, the excited expressions on the faces of the many nobles instantly changed drastically.
"You can't do this!!" A noble stammered, only managing to squeeze out that sentence after a long time.
"Sorry, I can," Anna said with a smile, "Welcome your pathetic doom, you fools. Your wealth and slaves will all vanish. You tried to defy the Primarch, betray the Emperor, and even tried to incite rebellion. Unforgivable."
"You..." The planetary governor's face was pale, and he raised a trembling hand to point at Anna.
Anna slowly pressed his finger down. "Hurry back and prepare to flee. Without the protection of power and without wealth, what will you use to protect yourself? I wouldn't want the angry populace to tear you apart."
*******
Hive City.
The supporting troops were quickly deployed to the battlefield, and with their powerful firepower, the traitors were steadily pushed back.
Calgar, meanwhile, led the primaris space marines in searching for the genestealers.
Only by completely eliminating the genestealers could all of this end.
Using the data Anna had collected, they followed an abandoned underground corridor to the enemy's location.
Soon, they encountered the first wave of mutant attacks.
The monsters roared and charged towards them.
