Chapter 358 - Velos

Andromeda Galaxy.

Velos. This was also Wesker's hometown.

With the Imperium's offensive, Wesker, who had joined the army, returned once again. The difference was that he had set out as a Alliance Defender, but returned as an Imperial Auxiliar.

As soon as he landed, a group of local company executives came up to him obsequiously.

Among the executives were both humans and dwarves.

Each of them had a smile on their face, looking seemingly overjoyed at the arrival of these Imperial Auxiliaries.

In many planets of the Alliance, official institutions were concurrently held by executives of large enterprises or companies.

Of course, there were also some purely official people, but their influence was generally not as great as that of the executives.

"Welcome home, all of you who have fought hard! We've been waiting for you with bated breath, and finally, you've returned."

"Now that you're here, life will be better. Down with those damned Alliance lackeys, down with the oppression of big companies and corporations. Freedom belongs to the people."

The executives were extremely fawning, trying to leave a good impression and avoid being purged.

But at this moment, a discordant voice came.

"You are traitors! You betrayed your homeland and became the lackeys of the invaders, shameless!" A student who looked only seventeen or eighteen pointed at Wesker and cursed, "You will always be despised, nailed to the pillar of shame in history."

"Traitor!"

"Traitor!"

"Traitor!"

The companions next to the student also shouted loudly. The faces of the executives, who had been smiling, turned pale. They wished they could just pull out their guns and shoot these guys down.

The executives of Velos had those students come over.

It was nothing more than to create a warm welcome for the Imperium on Velos. To show that Velos sincerely supports the wise rule of the Holy Emperor. To resolutely cut ties with those foolish and backward guys in the Alliance, and firmly follow the Imperium towards a glorious future.

When they were looking for these students, they had specifically instructed them.

Who would have thought that such a thing would happen.

"Shut up, if you shout again, I'll send you all to prison."

"Guards, guards."

"Take them all away, take them all away."

Several executives shouted with pale faces.

What kind of behavior is this!

Are they trying to roast them on a spit!

How vicious.

How terrifying.

If they angered these Imperial Auxiliary Forces. They would all be in trouble.

Now the Imperium's offensive is becoming more and more terrifying. The armies of the Votann Alliance have been retreating repeatedly. They have suffered heavy losses and their morale is almost gone.

In a while, the capital might even be lost.

It is a foregone conclusion that the Imperium will take down the Votann Alliance and become the ruler of the Andromeda Great Nebula.

Instead of bowing down and serving these Imperial masters well, they dare to say such things! 1

Isn't this giving others an excuse!

"A bunch of shameful lackeys." The young student said angrily, "A bunch of spineless cowards, you are the shame of the Alliance, traitors."

"Get out of our home, traitors."

"Invaders, get out of our home."

The other students also shouted one after another. The momentum was strong. The arrival of the Imperial Auxiliary Forces had already been announced to all sectors.

Many people had gathered at the spaceport.

At this moment, everyone's faces were pale.

It is said that the Imperium is autocratic and dictatorial.

If they were angered, heads would drop one after another.

However, those students were very spirited.

It seemed that before coming, they had already made preparations and vowed to resist to the end.

When the guards arrived, they linked arms and stood in a stalemate with the guards, refusing to leave. They were still shouting various slogans, demanding that the Imperial Auxiliary Forces leave Velos. They would never accept the Imperium's autocratic rule.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, these children are ignorant, ignorant." A female executive said, "Afterward, I will severely criticize them."

"Yes, we will investigate to the end and never tolerate it."

Several executives spoke up one after another, expressing their attitude, for fear that these great killing gods of the Imperium would raise their guns and shoot them.

Wesker was not unusual; he would not raise his gun and shoot the other party because of such a thing.

In fact, he didn't have the authority to order the shooting of those students either.

Instead, he watched this scene with interest.

If he hadn't experienced the various things on the front line, Wesker would certainly have been as passionate as these students, doing everything possible to defend his home. There was nothing he could do; the Votann Alliance's education was too good. The idea of loving the Alliance and seeing oneself as part of the Alliance had long been deeply ingrained in people's hearts.

Without the Votann Alliance, there would be no future for humanity.

If the Votann Alliance was lost, human civilization would come to an end.

Wesker had also once taken such words to heart.

But after experiencing the various things on the front line, Wesker had a completely new understanding.

Betrayal?

What is betrayal?

Why should he be loyal to an Alliance that doesn't treat him like a human?

As a farmer who did odd jobs, he would at most live to be sixty or seventy. Ten years for childhood, ten years for old age, and only forty or fifty years in between.

Dividing the forty or fifty years into day and night leaves only a little over twenty years.

Subtracting windy and rainy days, and minor illnesses, how much time is left?

If he also married a wife and had a few children, the time belonging to him would be even pitifully small.

What is a person living for in this life?

Even if he didn't seek great wealth and status, he should at least pursue a stable life, with a few days of leisure to do some boring things.

For a few unrealistic slogans, for an Alliance that doesn't even know who you are, he wasted his youth.

If it truly cared about you, then it could be discussed.

But unfortunately, those people treated you as a big sucker. They ate you dry and wiped you clean, and when they saw you had no value, they told you to get lost.

If you said a couple of unpleasant words about it, it would glare at you and want to hit you.

After beating you, it would also slander you everywhere, saying you were heartless.

It would also cover your mouth, preventing you from speaking, so you could only watch helplessly as it slandered you and incited those ignorant people to insult you.

It would try every means to empty your money, make you apathetic, and make you a lapdog for money.

"Why are you so angry?" Wesker walked up to the students and asked, "I am also from Velos, and I don't think the Imperium is an invader."

"Pah, I am ashamed to share a home with someone like you." The student said with a righteous look, as if standing on a moral high ground, bathed in the holy light of a god. His eyes revealed contempt and disdain for traitors like Wesker.

His eyes revealed hatred.

It was clear that he really wanted to kill all these damned traitors.

Wesker wiped the spit from his face.

"It's a good thing for young people to be energetic, but their minds need more tempering and experience, don't believe everything you hear."

"My mind is clearer than yours, lackey." The student said, "Stop pretending, you rotten beast, bringing those damned Imperial lackeys to invade your own home."

"Then what should I do?" Wesker looked at the student mockingly, "If I die in battle, the compensation won't even be enough to pay off the loan. I go to the battlefield, and then I lose everything in my home.

"This is your home, you should fight to the death. Even if you die outside, it's better than becoming a traitor. If you die, you only lose your life and those material possessions, but it is precisely because of your cowardice that the Alliance's land and rivers are shattered, and our home becomes a colony of the Imperium. You are sinners for all eternity."

"Is the Alliance necessarily good? Are the things we uphold right?"

"Our ancestors have lived this way for generations. What do you mean by saying such things? You are questioning the Alliance's system, so what about the ancestors who lived in this way? You ungrateful dog who sells out his ancestors for glory."

Seeing the student so indignant, saying things that made him want to die immediately.

Wesker couldn't help but slap his forehead.

I just want to live like a person, and I've become a sinner for all eternity!

Are the students' minds all broken now?

"Take them away." Wesker shook his head and said.

"You will be despised forever, beast."

The student shouted.

But his voice became smaller and smaller. The guards dragged them outside.

Wesker glanced at the resentful student a few times and shook his head.

He looked at the few executives, put away the bitter smile on his face, and became serious and unsmiling.

"The Imperium plans to waive all loans left from the Alliance era, as a grace from the Holy Emperor."

As soon as these words came out, the faces of the many executives who had just been pale became even more bloodless.

What was supposed to come, came after all.
