"It's a feast where people from noble families come together," Emily explained, leaning back comfortably on the sofa. "They dance, socialize, and celebrate with the King. It doesn't happen often, only on special occasions."
Amelia blinked, "…A king?" she repeated slowly. "This country is ruled by a king?"
Seren smiled, clearly amused by Amelia's reaction. "Yes, darling."
Amelia turned fully toward her. "Since when?"
Seren answered calmly, as though it were the most natural thing in the world, "For centuries. Long before we were born."
Amelia fell silent.
A king… noble families… royal feasts…
Her heart stirred with a strange unease. This country feels… strange. And weird, she thought. Like a place that shouldn't exist in modern times.
Seren glanced at the clock on the wall and clapped her hands lightly, "Emily, take Amelia to her room. It's directly opposite yours," she said. "You girls should get some rest. You'll be leaving soon to get your dresses."
