"Did something happen?"
She instinctively asked in a low voice.
The butler was taken aback and shook his head, "Nothing happened."
"Then why are you looking at me like that? Is my makeup smudged?"
The butler didn't expect her to be so straightforward and smiled, "It's nothing, Miss Sherman. You're overthinking. You're Mr. Sutton's assistant, and we're all in the same line of work, taking care of Mr. Sutton, so..."
"I see."
Eve Sherman nodded graciously, "It's good that nothing happened."
In fact, she was worried; they had all gone to the old estate yesterday. She wondered if something had happened there, but since they said nothing did, that was a relief.
As she was thinking, Stellan Sutton had already come downstairs.
He looked tired, clearly having suffered quite a bit after getting drunk the previous day.
Stellan Sutton saw her and seemed a bit surprised. He glanced at his watch, his furrowed brow relaxing, "Sorry to keep you waiting, Sherman."
