In the end, it was Wendy Aldridge who came up with the idea to bake the bee larvae. They could stick the whole hive onto a tree branch, roast it over the fire, and once it was cooked, pull out each larva to eat.
Julian Prescott and Lionel Lincoln both thought this was a good method. They quickly built up a fire, then followed Wendy's instructions, sliding a branch through the hive and propping it above the flames. Just as they got started, a black bee suddenly appeared.
The black bee circled the campfire, flying super fast, its wings buzzing audibly. After a few laps, it shot like a dart straight toward Julian, aiming straight for his face.
"Ah!" Julian sprang off the ground, dodging the attack just in time, swatted at the bee, but got stung on his palm. The pain almost made him cry.
Lionel hurried forward and stomped the black bee to death. Before they could catch their breath, hundreds more black bees suddenly swarmed, launching an attack.
