What the hell did I just think!?
I think I've gone crazy, here!? Staying here? Nah I'm good, think about your home, it may be messy but with one short clean and he could look good as ever. Think of those days, of how hard I fought for that apartment.
I got so lost in thought that I ended up cutting my finger, wasn't deep but it got Sams attention.
"Phalton! careful my pri- brother!"
He quickly grabbed the knife away from me,
"Sorry Sam got lost in thought without thinking, and it just cut right through."
Sam pushed me over to a medical tent, that was set up just in case one of us knights started a fight, or roughed up each other. Sam opened the tent.
"Excuse me, my friend here accidentally cut his finger."
A person was sitting in a chair next to a table filled with what looked to be weeds to me but maybe it was filled with actually priceless medicinal herbs.
They looked at the us for second, then within seconds they pulled out everything needed. Swabbing my finger throwing some cream on it and then slapping a bandage on it. It was done so quickly that even Sam was surprised,
"Come back tomorrow morning."
Then right after that we got kicked out immediately with the medic person saying, some along the lines of 'Now get out before you ruin the medicinal herbs.'
Sam looked over towards me with surprisement written all over his face, I simply just shrugged. With that we made our way over to the cooking area to see how done they were, right when we got over there the supper bell ranged for everyone to hear. Since we got there before it ranged, we were able to grabbed a bowl and get straight first into line.
I pushed the bowl outwards in anticipation, the person who was about to fill my bowl with delicious grub paused for a moment.
"Look who it is, it's the princess Phalton!"
Again with it..
"I'll add extra for a poor little princess!"
The cook was grinning from one ear to the other, I wanted to throw hands with this man so badly. In the end though I just chuckle and smiled back. Finally the grub was filling my bowl, almost it the point of overfilling.
I waited for Sam to get his then we walked over to a fire set up just nearby, sitting down on the ground, I stuffed my face. I finally can get some grubbed down after so long, and it's pretty good to!
It was finished in seconds, honestly I wanted seconds. I got dragged away by Tuner and Sam before I could even make it back to the cooks.
Dragged away all the way over to another knights tent, Tuner opened the tent and there many knights were playing cards. Betting coins, Tuner looked towards me.
"Keep it down Phalton, before the captain catches us. Have a little fun."
Me and Sam sat behind Tuner while he bet away all his money, he tragically lost it all in a few short moments. Then he looked over towards me for money, I looked at him like 'are you serious man?'
Then he looked over towards Sam for money, I felt bad for Sam as he gave a few coins over towards Tuner. Which he took with a cocky smile, then bet it all away again, this time he had a full royal flush, at least he won his money back.
After Sam got his money back I grabbed his wrist and pulled him out. Walking away I saw the captain go bust all of them. Good thing I looked out of the tent to see the captain was nearby or we'll be getting our heads eaten off by his nagging right now.
After getting back to our tent we got ready to rest for the night, I grabbed a blanket I was able to shove in my bag before I left the inn and laid on down.
Today has been a long day, I felt tension that I couldn't feel before leaving my body in an instant as I got comfortable. Looking at the top of the tent, I remembered something, the people who ambushed the original Sam.
He would be dead right now if I didn't start talking to him, they wouldn't be so stupid to attack the entire knight order tonight would they? Killing us one by one in our sleep.
Right? Right!?
All the comfort I felt before left in an instant as I thought about that, should I take a night shift? I swear even if I switched over to here, I'm still pulling night shifts.
After Sam fell asleep, I got up and tried my best to listen out for any people that would try to prey on us tonight. Nothing happened for awhile until I finally heard something, someone was walking with intent, I opened our tent slowly so as not to make noise and looked out into the dark night. There I saw people, you can clearly see that they are no knights.
The way they walked was crooked, what they were wearing helped blend them into the night. I closed up the tent and grabbed my sword, waiting for them to pass on by first.
Will I be able to kill them? I mean I'm from the normal day, the modern day where nothing like this happens at all. Killing each other and that, is not something I do on the daily, gripping the sword, my breath unstable. Then I was fine, like I forgot about the worry of killing someone, was this the original body helping me out?
The steps walked passed our tent finally, I looked out from the tent again. They were walking towards the captain tent, going after the leader, I say good choice. Just like would always happen once there leader is gone, there's no doubt we'll all go astray.
I took the first step out of the tent, gripping the sword and slowly pulling it out of the scabbard. Slowly making my way towards them from behind, then shoving the tip of the sword towards one of them.
It made its way through one with ease, I immediately went for the second one but he was already on guard from the sudden attack. The other man that I stabbed made a loud scream which ended up awakening everyone else.
before I knew it I was slinging my sword against the man's short and small sword. He lacked strength so I easily overpowered him with force, striking my sword deep into his flesh.
With that the people who killed Sam in the original where dead, the captain of the order came over to me.
"What the hell happened!?"
That's a good question captain, I wondered what the hell I just did. I killed people with no problems at all, I don't feel bad at all, what the hell is wrong with my mind?
The captain grabbed my shoulder,
"Good job."
I looked around and it seemed the commotion caused the other knights to wake up. I sighed and asked the captain,
"What should we do?"
He was kneeling over the bodies and looked up to me.
"It's best we clean all this up, everyone stay on guard! and where's the night watch?"
I went back towards my tent where Sam was leaning out of,
"Leave it to everyone else Sam, I'm pretty sure it'll be handled by the morning."
It seems that didn't put him to rest at all,
"I'll stay up, you can rest though."
That's what I did, went right over towards the spot I first laid in, laying back down finally after a such long night. Falling asleep in a flash.
In the bright dead of morning I was awoken by a peeping sun, peeking in from the front of the tent being left open. I got up slipped my sword onto my waist and walked out, people around seemed a little gloom on there face.
I walked around for awhile until I found the captain, Tuner, Sam, and a few other people talking. Tuner was the first one to see me and call out to me,
"Phalton! Come over here will ya?"
So I did, the captain looked over at me, and it wasn't just him a few others did too.
"Man we're lucky you where up, or else who knows what could have happen."
Then the captain opened his mouth to speak,
"What really happen last night."
I couldn't tell if that was a question or not, it sounded more like an order so I answered.
"I couldn't sleep last night so I stayed up, then I heard people and looked outside my tent and saw them. After that I waited until a perfect moment to attack."
The captain just stared at me, so did a few others, all of them looked lost in thought.
"So where were the people on watch last night?"
Tuner spoke up before anyone else could again,
"Turns out all of them fell on asleep before all of them could switch out."
If that were to happen in the modern day, no doubt all of them would be fired and have to pay the company for such a misconduct. Or that's what I had to do before, back in my world and place I stayed.
Everyone discussed a few more things before dispersing out and about doing stuff they needed to do before we got on a move again in a few short moments.
I went back towards the tent and packed everything up, giving the tent back to it's original owner packing up everything I took out of my back, back into the bag. Strapping the bag onto me again, I also ended up packing up Sams stuff, since it didn't seem he would come back any time soon.
He left with the captain, talking about what happened last night.
Since there was nothing else I could do I went and took a few apples from a few people who didn't need them, or well they asked if I could feed their horses. So I did all of that, I fed every horse I saw, I even cut every apple up.
When I finally walked back towards my horse, letting it reigns go from the tree, it was time to leave from the Campment.
I saddled my horse and pulled along Sams horse, I looked around and asked a few people, then I finally found him. He was with the captain talking still, so I rod the horse over.
"Sam I bought along your horse and everything you packed."
He gave me a slight smile and nodded, turning back towards the captain and spoke.
The only reason we haven't left yet was thanks to Sam and the captain talking like nobles over tea. Many knights gave the captain a side eye, even Tuner had to go over and remind the captain the time.
With that we were finally on the way to the border, trees rushed past us, with the breath of fresh air to breathe in. I took in one breath, and exhaled, it felt amazing.
I could never be able to breathe such air in the modern day.
We rode all throughout the day, that book inside my bag strapped to me stayed silent still. I guess I wasn't done here yet even though I saved him and everyone else who could have been in danger last night.
I really want to go home now book.
A wall came insight, then a huge clearing of trees, then a road that went all the way through the walls gate, out from the other. Many more knights were outside waiting for us.
Our horses slowed down, as we got closer, then coming to a complete stop, in front of the gate. I'll have to give it to the builders in this world, the gate is three stories high, and the wall would go up to 5 or 6.
I got off my horse, since everyone was getting off now, tying it on a wood post outside of a building that sits just near the gate. It bulges out from the wall, like it was built after the wall was built.
Everyone got a room in that building, I got my own to, good thing because if I got a room with another person they would have though I was insane. Immediately after getting into the room I ripped the bag off of me.
Throwing it onto the bed and opening it, grabbing the book from within. Sitting on the bed,
"You better answer me, dam book."
Nothing happen at all, will I make it back home or not dam it!?
I threw the book across the room and grabbed my hair ruffing it up.
After that I laid down on the bed, someone knocked on the door, but my mind drifted to sleep.
Then my eyes jolted open with a change of position, I was not laying down anymore. I was sitting up straight in a chair, in a book store filled out the brim with books.
I was finally back, the book I had opened out of curiosity sat in my hands. The words in it started to change completely, being rewritten, ink flowed about into the air then back into the book. Honestly it's really scary in my opinion.
With that all over I laid back into the chair putting the book into my lap, remembering everything I did there. I killed people, I actually killed people, it seems everything I did there is finally hitting me hard.
My hands trembled in fear just thinking about it, my breathing went astray. I stayed sitting there for gods know how long, pumping out breath, trembling away. I killed people, I actually stabbed a sword right into there skin.
Tears wanted to welt out of my eyes, I took one deep breath in and out to calm my nerves. There's nothing I can do now I did it, I killed them. If I didn't, who knows they might of killed me later, many people could have died.
Are they even people? Maybe there were no people, maybe everything was fake. I looked back down to the book, did everything I experienced fake? No it can't be it felt real, even when I cut my finger..
Then it dawned on me, it never hurt, but when information entered my head, it did, that was the only time I actually felt hurt. Or the sickness that was over driven with time, it was like I completely forgot about pain as time went on.
I shuddered in fear, getting up in front of the soft chair and up on my feet. The book dropped to the floor, hitting my foot along the way. I definitely felt that though, I wanted to scream out in pain as the book hit my foot, even after, the pain radiated from my foot.
I bent down after I felt a little better, picking up the book, should I actually buy this book? I sat there thinking for a short moment, then walking towards the back.
