Chapter 29 - Chapter 29: The Burning Matou, Reluctant to Leave

Within the magic circle drawn on the wall, a red pattern of three intertwining horns was the fundamental purpose of Tohsaka Rin's trip: the command spells!

Tohsaka Rin reached out and placed the back of her hand against the stone wall, connecting the Magic Circuits in her hand to link with the command spells' access point. command spells themselves exist like magical power organs, similar to Magic Circuits; once connected to the body, they become personal command spells.

Each command spell possesses three absolute commands, and each one is a magical power crystal equivalent to a Great Magic. Besides absolute compulsory commands, they can also be used to strengthen a Servant or replenish a Servant's magical power.

When the back of her hand left the stone wall, the wall was empty. The crimson command spells were imprinted on Tohsaka Rin's arm. The objective was achieved; she had to leave quickly!

Tohsaka Rin controlled her body and quickly walked towards the exit.

It wasn't that Tohsaka Rin didn't want to run; it was simply that she was finding it difficult to concentrate at the moment. With every step, she felt her consciousness waver, and if she were to slack off while running and fall into the worm pit, it would be a major disaster.

As she passed the outermost worm pit, the sounds of bone and flesh being gnawed still echoed within. Tohsaka Rin glanced at a shred of clothing that floated to the surface of the worm pit.

Even if I throw you into the worm pit, you will not experience Sakura's despair. Engraving Worms only devour males completely in one go, but for females, it is an endless torment.

After that, she did not look back again, supporting herself against the wall as she ascended the stone steps to leave.

Ensuring she was completely out of the basement, Tohsaka Rin breathed a sigh of relief. After all, the worm room was the old worm's absolute home ground; in that area, even if a Heroic Spirit came, the old worm would have no fear.

After leaving the underground area, just as Tohsaka Rin was about to leave the Matou Family residence, something on the collection shelf directly opposite the basement exit caught her attention. Tohsaka Rin walked over, took it down, and examined it carefully.

It was a piece of dark, black iron, tucked into the collection shelf, with a bit of rust on the inside. One raised side had a broken protrusion.

A fragment of the helmet Kariya used to summon Lancelot during the Fourth Holy Grail War!

Recalling the dark Berserker who was like a madman during the Fourth Holy Grail War, Tohsaka Rin held the fragment, pondered for a moment, then put it into her pocket.

If I remember correctly, Nasu (the author) seemed to have said that as long as she is still in Fuyuki, and as long as Tohsaka Rin does not use a relic, the summoned Servant will inevitably be Emiya (Heroic Spirit Emiya). However, the Archer class in the Fourth Holy Grail War was occupied by Gilgamesh, that Gilgamesh, so it's impossible to have two Archers.

What kind of situation would that lead to? Neither Gilgamesh nor Emiya could fit the Berserker class. At that time, Emiya would most likely be summoned as a Caster. Regardless of how much close-combat ability Emiya could retain after losing the Three Knight Classes, his super long-range sniping ability would definitely not be preserved.

Emiya was indeed a Magician during his lifetime, but his fighting style was primarily long-range sniping and close-quarters combat. As for the class skills brought by being summoned as a Magician, whether it's Territory Creation or Item Construction, they would clearly be wasted.

Being a Magician in life and then summoned as a Magician yet having his combat power decrease, Emiya Shirou, you truly are a strange one... Therefore, Tohsaka Rin decided that she would summon Berserker Lancelot in the Fourth Holy Grail War!

Besides various considerations, there was another important reason... Legend has it that the reason Tohsaka Rin summoned Red A was because Tohsaka Rin had once… with Emiya Shirou, and thus possessed Emiya Shirou's… it was as a relic that she summoned Red A… Damn it, how am I supposed to accept that! Being… by a man… Ugh! Damn it, even in other worlds… Ugh!

Tohsaka Rin couldn't help but feel a wave of nausea, clutching the collection shelf and retching.

I might as well just kill that Tsuchimikado with one strike during the Fourth Holy Grail War. Archer, I will fulfill your wish for you!

Tohsaka Rin thought with a fierce glint in her eyes. Even if she admitted the fact that she was Tohsaka Rin, she could not tolerate herself falling in love with a man, because admitting her gender did not mean distorting her aesthetic views from her previous life. The events between Tohsaka Rin and Tsuchimikado in the original story had already caused Tohsaka Rin great distress, and now to have it happen to herself…

Tsuchimikado, you should just die! Even if the Black Holy Grail drowns the world, I will not tolerate such a thing happening!

Rin viciously stuffed the helmet fragments into her pocket and turned to walk out of the Matou residence.

Stepping out of the Matou Family residence, Rin looked back once more at this family compound that concealed too much darkness and filth. She raised her right hand, igniting a spark with her last Magic Power at her fingertip. The Finale Magic Power-ignited flame instantly caught fire, and in the blink of an eye, the entire Matou residence was engulfed in towering flames.

What a pity, it was useless... Rin knew very well that all of this was just a meaningless act of venting. As long as Matou Zouken was alive, no matter how much she did, it would be in vain. Rin could foresee that when she returned two years later to participate in the Fourth Holy Grail War, everything here would be restored to its original state.

The command spells themselves were connected to the Magic Circuits, and when the Magic Circuits were closed, they would disappear beneath the skin, so Rin was not afraid of being seen. Thus, Rin, exhausted, returned to the Tohsaka Family residence. The Tohsaka Family's defensive barrier would not impede Rin, so she returned to her own villa without any obstruction.

Rin forced herself back to the Tohsaka Magic Workshop. For several years, this workshop had always been used by Rin, and Rin had spent the vast majority of her time here over the past three years.

I'm leaving, and I really do feel a bit reluctant... This not-so-spacious Magic Workshop had witnessed Rin's growth. Rin studied, trained, struggled, bled and sweated here, and was critically injured several times. None of this was known to anyone; this dim Magic Workshop was the sole witness.

Goodbye. No, someone who has abandoned the inheritance of the Tohsaka Family should no longer be qualified to come here... Rin took out a very retro leather pouch, a birthday gift Tokiomi had given her on her fifth birthday. It was said to be a trinket casually made by her grandmaster Zelretch, and it was also a Magic Artifact. Its effect was ten times the storage space of its appearance, and it could be folded arbitrarily without feeling any weight.

When Tokiomi gave it to Rin, it was just a small, exquisite sachet-sized pouch. Even with ten times the space, it couldn't hold much, only small items like handkerchiefs and perfume, so it was given to Rin.

But Rin, who never knew what elegance was, curiously pulled and tugged at the pouch, and finally discovered that it could be stretched as large as a sack!

Holy cow, a crime artifact!

The 'sack' was already filled with enough food, changes of clothes, and toiletries. Moreover, anything put inside would be frozen the moment it entered, so there was no need to worry about crushing, spoilage, or food getting on clothes.

Rin returned to the Magic Workshop and swept away all the gems stored there, including polished and unpolished ones, and a batch of gems that had just arrived two days ago according to an order! Rin had originally wanted to take several bookshelves of tomes of sorcery as well, but considering there wasn't enough remaining space, she could only give up.

Rin put the tomes of sorcery for Mana Burst and Projection Magic into the pouch. Tokiomi probably wouldn't care too much about these two books.

Finally... Rin pulled open the desk drawer and carefully took out two items from inside as if they were precious treasures.

An old teddy bear, and a dried, yellowish apple core... Rin held these two utterly ordinary items in her arms, looked up, and deeply inhaled the scent of departure. She reluctantly scanned the entire Magic Workshop, then placed the teddy bear and apple core into the pouch.

The sack-sized, fully packed magic pouch was folded into a handkerchief shape in Rin's hands in no time, placed into her pocket, and she left the Magic Workshop where she had struggled for three years.

Reaching the door and grasping the doorknob, Rin hesitated for a moment, then turned back and walked towards the master bedroom where Aoi and Sakura were.

Having just recovered some Magic Power with gems, I'll use a 'wake-up' spell. I'll take one last look at them before I go. When we meet again, I don't know what the situation will be... She gently opened a small crack, peeked inside, and saw Aoi holding Sakura, facing the outer door towards Rin. The bright moon, breaking through the dark clouds, cast a serene moonlight that shone through the window screen onto the peaceful sleeping faces of the mother and daughter.

Rin tiptoed across the carpet and went over to closely examine Sakura's adorable sleeping face.

Sakura's little eyebrows were so cute, her little nose was cute too, her little ears were cute, her little lips... Staring at Sakura's pink, tender little lips, Rin was lost in thought for a moment. Her eyes shifted, and then she bent down and deeply pressed her lips onto them!

Rin, who had deeply stolen a kiss from her younger sister, felt an unprecedented sense of satisfaction. She smiled and softly said to the sleeping Sakura, "Alright, Sakura, your first kiss is your older sister's, and your older sister's first kiss is also given to you. You're not allowed to fall for that Tsuchimikado again; you belong to your older sister."

"When I'm not here, you'll be responsible for inheriting the Tohsaka Family. This process will be very painful. If I had a choice, I'd really want to bear it all for you, but unfortunately, I can't. Your older sister is still too weak..."

"Take good care of yourself from now on. Inherit the family's magic. Mom won't be able to spoil you anymore, and I won't be here. You'll have to face a strict father on your own. Pay more attention to your health, don't try too hard..."

"I'm sorry. I promised to protect you, but in the end, I still have to use this method, leaving without a word, and throwing the entire future of the Tohsaka Family onto you. When you're in pain or tired, just cry, just resent, resent your older sister who is powerless to shield her younger sister from wind and rain..."

"Take good care of yourself. You're sleeping so soundly even after someone stole your first kiss. How can you be so worry-inducing, you little dummy..."

She gave her sleeping sister one instruction after another, but from the moment she opened her mouth, her tears could no longer be held back. Suppressing her tearful sobs, she smiled and finished speaking, then, filled with reluctance and guilt, gently kissed Sakura's lips again.

Perhaps it was the coldness of the tears, but Sakura woke up at that moment, in a daze. Her eyes were half-open, and dimly, she saw her older sister's face, full of tears yet still smiling. She instinctively uttered, "Onee-chan..."

But Rin didn't give Sakura a chance to continue. Her index finger, imbued with 'calming' magic, gently rubbed Sakura's brow. Rin smiled as she looked at Sakura, then looked at Aoi.

"Oh, Mom, you didn't even notice your little daughter's first kiss being stolen right in your arms. Thank you for your love for me. You are my unique mother. You will surely be sad when I suddenly leave, but you said that a mother would not stop her child's wishes, so you will surely understand me."

"Father will definitely be furious, even going to extremes. Don't worry about me. I will live well, better than anyone, and then come to save you and protect this family. This family is your everything, so I must protect it! Both you and Father, I must protect. Goodbye..."

To prevent Aoi from waking up as well, Rin had already cast a calming spell and gently kissed Aoi's cheek. Finally, she walked backward step by step to the door, shed a string of clear tears, and quickly ran away.

Running all the way, she opened the villa gate, quickly crossed the courtyard, and left the home where she had lived for three years, disappearing alone into the night of Fuyuki.
