When Olessia rushed out of Kaive's room, her pulse was all over the place. She didn't stop to look back, she went straight to her room, pushed the door shut, and locked it fast, like the whole world was trying to follow her inside the room.
Her breathing was unsteady, her thoughts running in circles, and all she wanted was to be alone just a moment where no one could reach her or ask her anything. She leaned against the door, trying to calm herself, but her chest kept tightening, what she'd just heard still echoing in her head.
By no one, she mainly meant Kaive. She knew him too well that he never knocked. He just walked in, because the door didn't matter to him, like her space belonged to him too. That was exactly why she locked it this time.
She didn't want him barging in, acting like his words hadn't turned her whole mind upside down. She needed a barrier, even a small one, just long enough to breathe without him standing over her, telling her things she didn't want to hear.
