Chapter 14 - Chapter Fourteen

Ryan's POV

My head spinned slightly and it felt like I wasn't able to comprehend the madness coming out of Jennifer's mouth.

"What did you just say?"

"You both heard me." She then turned to Elena and batted her eyelashes. Her eyes held contempt and disdain.

Elena looked shocked, then hurt but soon regained herself and chuckled darkly. "Well, well, well, both of you are just shameless. I'm glad you've drawn the line, Ryan. I'll do well to keep to it." She gave me one last look and walked out.

Once I was sure that she couldn't hear us anymore, a snarl escaped my lips.

"What the hell were you thinking? I brought you here to keep her in line, not exaggerated."

"Oo please, Ryan I've been intimate with you from day one and somehow you chose that naive little thing. Word is getting around that Monalisa wants you back."

"I don't give a damn, now get out of here. I'll call you when I need you again."

"Ryan, I think you're overreacting."

I gave her one cold glare and she packed her things and scurried out of the place.

I took out my phone and called Dave. The phone rang for a while and just when I was about to cut it he picked up. "Why the hell are you calling me by this time, Ryan. Aren't you supposed to be enjoying your time with your bride?"

I rolled my eyes at his stupidity. "This union is just on paper, now tell me what I need to know about the missing shipments."

Dave heaved a sigh in exasperation. "We were able to find his address, that is the guy that I informed you about, his name on the streets is Rhino. The boys and I will pay him a visit tomorrow. We have still been unable to find anything reasonable about the Viper."

"Keep checking, he can't be so far off."

"Babe, come back to bed." A feminine voice echoed from his background.

I sighed in annoyance. "What is wrong with you? How do you change women like that? Is it even normal?"

"Don't judge me you idiot, I don't bite your ears off about your love for pain and blood so stay out of my business. I just pity the poor Elena." He faked a tiny voice.

"Mind your business, fool."

I turned around startled at the sound of broken glass. I dropped my phone and took out my gun, approaching the kitchen slowly.

I saw a figure bending to pick the message off the floor, I pointed the gun at the figure only for the loudest screech I've ever heard to fill my ears.

"Please, don't kill me! Why in the world do you even have a gun!" She had her hands raised and her eye spinner to the gun.

I completely ignored her and placed the weapon behind my pants. "Try to make more noise when you move around the house, I didn't know that you came downstairs."

She folded her arms and that made my eyes go straight to her chest. She cleared her throat and gave me a challenging look.

I gave her a pointed look in return and muttered. "Sleep early so you'd wake up on time, we have work tomorrow."

"Wait what?"

"Did you think that your internship ended because you got married to me? Don't flatter yourself too much, this is just a contract so you will continue with your internship. Also, don't forget to act professional, I don't mix business with pleasure." I walked away briskly before I ended up doing something I'd regret.

I soon got to my room and the image of her in her nighties and messy bun lingered on my mind until I fell asleep.

***

I leaned against the car with George in the driver's seat. I looked at my watch in annoyance, she would make me late.

"Miss Elena is coming right down, Sir." My head maid, Tatiana said as she approached me. I barely acknowledged her and just waved her off.

The front door was pushed open and Elena rushed through the doors. I gritted my teeth in annoyance at how clumsy she looked.

She was in jeans and had her shoes in her hands. Her hair was in a loose bun and she barely had any makeup on but for red lipstick. Several acne spots were visible on her face.

"I'm so sorry, yesterday was tiring and I overslept. Don't…."

I raised my hand, shutting her up completely. "Save it! You've made me late for my first meeting with an important client. The least you could have done was to at least look good, you look like a train rammed you on your way here."

She looked at me with her mouth open in shock then her eyes got teary but none spilled.

"Get in the car," I opened the car door but to my surprise she folded her arms and looked me dead in the eye without making any move to approach me.

"Are you deaf or something? Get in the fucking car!"

"I'll get a cab, you can as well go on your own since you lack simple manners." She raised her chin up in the air and I had to pinch my nose with my fingers in exasperation.

"You've made me late already and now you want to follow a cab? Do you have any idea what it would look like? My newly wedded wife, arriving at my place in a cab."

"I don't care, you're mean and lack manners. You can as well go alone with your plastic bimbo, Jessinta was it?" By the looks on her face I know that she intentionally said the name wrong.

"I don't have time for this bullshit!" I took long strides towards her and picked her like a sack of potatoes on my shoulders. She hit me severally, screaming for me to let her down but I did none of that.

I dropped her in the back seat and pushed her slightly so I could sit.

"This is kidnap! Someone help me!" She began to hit on the car window.

I think I'd file for a divorce in a week. To my surprise, George had a wide smile on his face. Staring at us both with glee.

"What's so funny, George?" I snarled in annoyance.

"Nothing, boss." He cleared his throat and stopped smiling.

"Better, take us to the office."

"Yes, Sir."

We all got to the office and to my surprise I had stepped out but this hurricane of a

woman definitely sat in the car, refusing to step out.

I think my days of horror have just begun.
