Chapter 10 - 10: A Cheap Confession?

Ever since Mo Lü stormed off after getting scolded by Zeng Shunxi, her desk returned to its original, spotless state—no more random snacks, no more colorful treats scattered everywhere. Without her daily offerings and outrageous antics, the girls in class suddenly had nothing fun to eat and nothing juicy to gossip about.

Peaceful? Yes.

Boring? Absolutely.

At least Zeng Shunxi finally had some quiet. Mo Lü coming and going like a whirlwind only confirmed what she already believed: the guy was a reckless, unserious rogue who took nothing seriously.

But calm never lasts long around Mo Lü.

During break time, a girl from the next class crashed into their room like a meteor, eyes sparkling with dangerous levels of excitement.

"Shunxi—Shunxi! Hurry! You guys have to see this!"

Everyone whipped their heads toward the doorway.

At that moment, the noise from the hallway surged, and then—he appeared.

Mo Lü strode in wearing a black-and-white checkered hoodie, a huge bouquet of multicolored flowers wrapped in classy blue paper filling his arms. His walk was confident, his expression almost radiant—and his gaze, sharp as a spotlight, locked straight onto Zeng Shunxi.

He didn't hesitate.

Didn't slow down.

Didn't even blink.

He stopped right in front of her and held out the bouquet.

"Shunxi, sweetheart," he said with a grin that could melt glaciers, "I wasn't sure what kind of flowers you like, so I had the shop wrap one of every kind. Ninety-nine in total. They're not as pretty as you, but I figured I'd give you the brightest scenery today—just to show you how long I've liked you."

The classroom exploded. Girls clutched each other, squealing like their souls were ascending. Every single eye zeroed in on Zeng Shunxi.

She froze, stunned.

"You… why are you here again?"

Mo Lü chuckled, raised a hand, and gently ruffled her hair.

The room nearly collapsed from the collective shriek—this was a head-pat of mass destruction.

He leaned in close, his voice brushing against her ear.

"The weather's perfect today. I want to watch the sun with you—the most beautiful scenery, with the most beautiful girl."

Before she could process anything, he placed the bouquet firmly in her arms, adjusted her hold, then grabbed her other hand with practiced ease and led her toward the window.

Of course the entire class followed like a stampede.

The sun outside was bright and warm, but it wasn't what stole everyone's breath.

It was the spectacle below.

Zeng Shunxi leaned forward—and her heart stopped.

The courtyard was packed with students holding up a massive sea of pink balloons, arranged into one huge heart. Just as she blinked, Mo Lü whistled sharply.

All of balloons were released at once, drifting upward in a soft pink wave—floating past her eye level and higher, filling the sky with bubble-like clouds of color.

But the show wasn't over.

The same group of students below rushed to lift a gigantic banner.

Bold, dramatic words stretched across it:

"I control you.

You control me.

We belong together."

Those infamous lines—Mo Lü's trademark phrases.

If anyone in the world could confess like this, it was him.

The girls around her were emotionally wrecked. Wu Xinxǐ was crying actual tears—half touched, half devastated.

The chanting began immediately:

"Together! Together! Together!"

Only then did Zeng Shunxi fully grasp what was happening.

Her excitement evaporated in an instant.

She remembered the scene she'd witnessed not long ago: Mo Lü and Guo Chouyan tangled in some ambiguous mess, him wiping her tears, whispering soft words.

Her heart turned cold.

Meanwhile, Mo Lü opened his arms wide, confidence radiating off him. He truly believed she'd leap into his embrace like any other girl would.

But Zeng Shunxi snapped back to reality.

In front of the entire crowd, she shoved the bouquet back into his chest and asked sharply:

"Didn't you just confess to another girl not long ago?

Tell me, Mo Lü—

are your confessions always this cheap?"
