Chapter 23 - Rich!

"Why are you so weak, Alexander?"

Lager chuckled as he carried Alexander and dropped him off outside Alexander's house.

Alexander leaned against the outer wall, rubbing his temples, letting the dizziness and nausea slowly subside.

"You look better. Let's go have a drink."

Noticing that Alexander's complexion had improved, Lager couldn't help but persuade him:

"Tomorrow we're going to have a bloody fight with the Ark Gang. Come have a drink with your brother."

"Who knows, we might not see each other next time."

Lager's tone was full of sincerity, as if he were going to die tomorrow.

"I've heard you say that at least seven or eight times," Alexander said, shaking his slightly relieved head.

This Lager fellow was an old hand. In the hive city gangs, where the average age didn't exceed thirty, this guy had managed to live long enough to become an old man.

No matter how dangerous the gang wars were, this guy always managed to slip back unscathed.

Alexander often wondered if this guy had been blessed by some Warp god; how else could he be so hard to kill?

"Wait, you said the Ark Gang is going to fight you guys?" Alexander raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah, before you left, our territories clashed with theirs."

Lager grinned, touching the Agrippina-pattern Mark III Autogun hanging at his waist, which he had obviously swiped from the pile of weapons delivered to the gang.

Alexander was speechless. This old man...

But it didn't matter. The gang had already paid him, so even if Lager took all three hundred guns, it was none of his business.

"Is the Ark Gang expanding so rapidly?" Alexander frowned deeply.

"I heard they're building some kind of Ark and need a lot of supplies and manpower," Lager said, thinking for a moment.

"Ark... Do they want to fly into the sky and become Eldar?" Alexander muttered.

The more he thought about the Ark Gang, the stranger they seemed.

Their doctrines and actions seemed closely related to Gene Stealers.

Could it really be part of a Genestealer Cult?

But they were so conspicuous, which wasn't like the Gene Stealers' style.

Alexander felt a bit confused for a moment.

It seemed he would have to find time to investigate the Ark Gang's background.

If they really were Gene Stealers, then it would be big trouble.

But there was no opportunity today.

Alexander rubbed his still throbbing temples.

After returning from the abandoned city, he went to the Old Eight District the next night. The continuous work had left him feeling a bit tired.

Alexander waved Lager away, pushed open his door, and lay down on his small bed.

The bed board wasn't soft, but the moment he lay down, Alexander felt much of his fatigue disappear.

He kicked the door shut, which was leaning against the bed, rubbed his temples, and then focused his gaze on the four-dimensional pocket.

He had gained a lot from this trip to the Old Eight District.

Aside from the weapons he'd retrieved from the PDF warehouse, Alexander had also gotten Ignes. Kalkas' notebook and the safe it was stored in.

That notebook...

Alexander's eye twitched uncontrollably when he thought of that notebook.

He had thought it was at most a poetry collection, but he didn't expect it to be Ignes. Kalkas' diary.

The blasphemous incantations recorded on it had been completely destroyed by Alexander.

But even so...

Alexander rubbed his temples.

This notebook contained many records from the Great Crusade era, mainly including Horus, Davine, Erebus, Horus' Sons, and First Captain Abaddon.

It even contained many complaints about the Astartes and speculations about the Warrior Lodges.

The contents of this notebook were the taboo of taboos, the secret of secrets, for the Imperium.

Some history, many institutions in the Imperium wished to bury forever.

These records were fine in Alexander's hands, but if they fell into the hands of some noble and attracted the attention of certain Imperial institutions, it was likely that everyone who had seen this notebook would be forced into loyalty.

Alexander immediately made a decision: this thing absolutely could not be given to Old One-Eye.

What should be buried was better left buried.

Unfortunately, the four-dimensional pocket's recycling price for text-based content wasn't very high.

Alexander shook his head and casually tossed the notebook into the depths of the four-dimensional pocket.

Then, he recycled most of the weapons and equipment he had found in the Old Eight District, along with the Static Field safe.

One hundred thirty thousand entered his account instantly.

He didn't recycle the fifty Catachan-pattern M36 Lasguns.

Because these things were genuinely useful. They truly lived up to their reputation as the Astra Militarum's good wife, and even more so as the model equipped by the Cadian Shock Troopers.

He could now control twelve at once with his psychic power, though it consumed a lot of energy and there was a few seconds delay per firing round. But in the Lower Nest, who wouldn't be dazed by a dozen focused beams hitting their face?

With practice, Alexander might be able to control fifty lasguns at once in the future.

Alexander also kept some of the other three types of weapons, just in case they would be useful later.

All in all, he recycled them for one hundred thirty thousand.

"Alexander, we're rich," the winged figure of Sanguinus sighed from the corner of his eye.

"Who's 'we'?" Alexander glanced at him and said.

Although a little pained, Alexander still opened the Future Department Store's shop interface.

He needed to buy more items.

If the Ark Gang was truly a Genestealer Cult, the items Alexander currently had wouldn't be enough.

The Gene Stealer Patriarch under Ashford was a six-meter-tall giant monster with a diamond-hard carapace and terrifying psychic powers.

Furthermore, this Gene Stealer, due to its host's bloodline, could even be somewhat immune to the Great Devourer's control.

Because of all this, it could even contend with a Blood Angels' Death Company Dreadnought. That was a Death Company Dreadnought!

Alexander had to get some more powerful weapons...

[Item Name: Pocket Tornado]

[Origin: 22nd Century Earth — Future Department Store]

[Production Date: 277.M2]

[Function: It looks like a gourd. As long as the stopper is pulled out, a tornado can be released. It can release winds comparable to typhoon strength, powerful enough to destroy a small town in a short time.]

[Price: 560,000 credits]

Capable of releasing winds comparable to a typhoon, instantly destroying a small town.

Alexander's eyes lit up slightly when he saw this description.

The price was only five hundred sixty thousand, not too expensive...

But Alexander quickly understood why an item capable of instantly destroying a small town was so cheap...

This thing's released winds were indiscriminate. If Alexander really released a typhoon-level hurricane, he would be caught in it too.

But if the scale was slightly smaller, combined with the instant movement ability provided by the Superpower Hat...

Alexander's eyes lit up slightly.

Throwing a hurricane at the enemy's face and then teleporting away—he loved that.

Alexander reached out and chose to purchase this item...

"The bastards from the Ark Gang are ambushing us!"

Before Alexander could even take the item out of his backpack, he heard a commotion outside his door.

"Ark Gang, you mutant bastards! Open fire, men!"

Gunshots and curses intertwined, echoing through the night.
