Chapter 47 - Soul

"That's your Warp essence."

On the streets of the Lower Nest, Alexander and Reyna walked together.

The Ninth District had been corrupted by Tzeentch, and there might still be a certain number of corrupted individuals in that large district.

Now the PDF had blockaded the entire district and, along with Adeptus Ministorum priests, had begun purification. It was even rumored that Battle Sisters would intervene.

But before the Battle Sisters entered the Ninth District, Alexander and Reyna had returned to the Lower Nest with the passes provided by Augustus.

Reyna clutched the navigation logbook in her arms, her eyes filled with impatient excitement.

Alexander's attention, however, was drawn to something else.

When he was corrupted by Tzeentch, he vaguely saw his reflection in the Warp.

It was a blurry, indistinct, round blue figure, seemingly without ears.

Even after the black notebook was sold by Alexander using his four-dimensional pocket, completely severing the corruption,

Alexander could still see that round blue figure.

He could see it through the reflection of glass, burning flames, or the hazy twilight.

The figure seemed to be his own reflection.

Sanguinius said that it was Alexander's Warp essence.

"I'm not a Primarch," Alexander retorted, shaking his head.

Alexander generally knew what Warp essence was.

Warp essence was the true Warp face that Primarchs hid behind their humanity.

Some speculated that the Primarchs' essence was that of a Warp demigod, placed into human bodies by the Emperor.

Awakening one's Warp essence was equivalent to becoming a demigod again.

Corax, the Raven King, awakened his Warp essence, thereby gaining enough power to suppress the daemon Primarch Lorgar.

Alexander didn't know if this claim was true, but he wasn't a Primarch, much less a Warp demigod.

"Don't be as stubborn as Guilliman."

Sanguinius sighed and said,

"You saw it yourself; your reflection in the Warp is not a human form."

That was true.

Alexander stroked his chin, recalling his reflection in the Warp.

Blue, round, earless...

Familiar, very familiar.

Isn't that Doraemon?

Could his Warp essence be Doraemon?

A cat-type childcare robot from the 22nd century?

Alexander said with a strange expression, "I think I know what my reflection in the Warp is."

"But I haven't awakened any Warp essence because of it."

With that, he spread his hands.

When the Raven King awakened his Warp essence, he could directly suppress Lorgar.

Why hadn't he changed at all?

"Knowing and awakening are two different things."

Sanguinius shook its head:

"Even if you grabbed Guilliman's ear and loudly told him, 'Your essence is in the Warp; you are a genuine demigod,'"

"Guilliman probably wouldn't awaken his Warp essence either."

Alexander nodded, half-understanding.

"The key lies in self-positioning; you need to find your place in the Warp."

Sanguinius continued:

"Tzeentch's corruption stimulated your self-preservation instinct, making you vaguely aware of the existence of your Warp essence."

"This can be considered a blessing in disguise... Logically, you should have already gained some abilities you didn't have before."

Alexander's expression grew stranger the more he listened: "Abilities? What kind of abilities?"

"Uh... probably things like flying, being able to perceive others' emotions, spatial warping, being handsome, innate knowledge, numerology, turning into a raven, stealth in darkness, precognition, psychic talent, and so on..."

Sanguinius said vaguely.

Hearing this, Alexander couldn't help but frown.

"How are you so proficient?" Alexander couldn't help but ask.

This figure's understanding of the Warp seemed a bit too extensive.

Did Sanguinius have such knowledge?

Could it be that he was some one-eyed, sunburnt Ogryn in disguise?

"Among all my Primarch brothers, I was one of the earliest to realize that I was not purely a product of the material world and thus vaguely understood the existence of my Warp essence."

Sanguinius said faintly:

"Without the superhuman wisdom my Father granted me, I could realize it just by common sense..."

"These wings on my back absolutely cannot fly based on aerodynamics alone; they must be using Warp power."

Hearing this, Alexander chuckled softly.

"Next, you need to find your newly acquired abilities and, through them, further understand your Warp essence," Sanguinius said.

"I feel like I haven't gained any abilities," Alexander shook his head.

The four-dimensional pocket was an ability he had since he first transmigrated; it clearly wasn't from his Warp essence.

He had no clue about the newly acquired abilities Sanguinius mentioned.

Alexander shrugged, temporarily pushing these complicated matters to the back of his mind.

He just felt tired now and wanted to go home and sleep.

Speaking of going home...

"Reyna, did you take care of the thing I entrusted to you before we went to the Upper hive?"

Alexander looked at Reyna and asked.

Before they went to the Upper hive, his house had been visited by the Zealous Thief. Although Alexander discovered and chased him away, there was no guarantee the Zealous Thief wouldn't come back for revenge.

So Alexander entrusted Reyna, spending some money to arrange for Ark Gang members to patrol nearby.

Lest his house be stolen while he was gone to the Upper hive. Although most of Alexander's property was in his four-dimensional pocket, his house only contained a few changes of clothes and daily necessities.

"Don't worry, I've arranged everything."

Reyna patted her chest and said.

"Wait, what did you call me?"

"Want some melon seeds, sir?" Alexander chuckled and walked under an archway forged from scrap metal.

Reyna huffed indignantly, then couldn't help but ask,

"What exactly did you do that night? I only saw you take the notebook and then stuff it into your clothes..."

Reyna recalled the experience of that night, her eyes full of confusion.

"Just assume I used some kind of wonderful tool," Alexander said with a smile.

After passing through the archway made of scrap metal and squeezing through a crowded section, he would be home.

"You're trying to fool me again," Reyna said, frowning.

"Me...?"

Before Alexander could retort, he froze in place.

He stood on the street near his house, looking at his front door with a speechless expression, then said,

"I think you're fooling me."

Alexander pointed at the iron gate of his house.

A smooth, regular circular hole had been cut into his iron gate, as if by intense heat.

The cooled and solidified molten iron flowed down from the hole, like twisted vines.

Less than two centimeters from the hole was the lock cylinder of the iron gate.

The lock cylinder itself was completely undamaged.

Alexander could only marvel at the exquisite skill of the Zealous Thief.

Reyna also looked at the hole in Alexander's doorway in a daze: "This..."

Alexander's house was visited by the Zealous Thief?

She clearly arranged for people to patrol outside Alexander's house!

But where were the patrolmen? Why were they gone?

"If you don't explain this situation to me today, I'll use your illegal psyker steel plate to plug the hole tonight."

Alexander said, his eye twitching uncontrollably.

"Wait, let me see who was on duty today..."

"Why are they gone!"

Reyna frowned, took out a small notebook from her pocket, and quickly flipped through it.

..."Oh!"

Reyna's eyes lit up with sudden understanding:

"It turns out Lager was on duty today!"

Hearing this, Alexander also showed an expression of sudden realization:

"So it was Lager! No wonder! This guy is screwing me over again!"
