They stopped at a small coastal village for lunch. Wooden tables, flower garlands, music drifting softly from open windows.
Isabella laughed at how much Elijah ate."Are you starving or something?"
"Honeymoons burn calories," he said with a straight face.
She slapped his arm."Elijah!"
He laughed so openly she felt warmth bloom in her chest. He looked… young like this. Happy.
When Isabella tried a local dessert, Elijah leaned closer."Do you like it?"
"It's amazing."
He wiped a bit of cream off her lip with his thumb, so casually she froze.
Then he looked at his thumb, smiled, and said softly,"Sweet."
Her heart thumped so loudly she wondered if he could hear it.
