After the wake-up call, Johnny decided to learn more about his dream and went to see his grandmother to tell her about his dream and get some clarification.
"Mémé? S'il te plaît, j'ai...", he said.
"Yes, what's wrong? I hope you didn't go back to the trunk, huh?" she replied immediately.
Johnny retorted: "Non, non, Grandma! About that, I wanted to explain something to you."
"What's wrong now?" she replied.
Johnny gave her all the details about the dream.
"Mémé? Who is it? Who's in the trunk?" he asked.
His grandmother asked Johnny if he had opened the trunk the last time he was in the garage.
"Did you look in the trunk? I hope you didn't try to let the man out, oh?" she said.
After Johnny's affirmation, his grandmother exclaimed: "Heee, Titi, you've killed me, oh! What am I going to tell your mom with tears in my eyes? What did I do to you?"
She grabbed Johnny by the shoulders and collapsed to the floor, saying: "Heee!"
You could feel the heat in the room and the regret in her cries.
"Mémé, what did I do? Ahuii, stop crying, you'll explain to me, ya qu'elle wé?" (Ivorian local language).
"What are you going to tell mom, how?" he added.
"Shut up, you fool, when we talk to you, you don't listen, that's the problem," she replied.
"The man you saw, he's a genie, an ancestral demon that's been in the family for generations. But the last generation decided not to go to him anymore because after he helped, he would always make a victim in the family of his choice. That's why we decided to abandon him in his corner. And you, wanting to see what's there, you went and reactivated the ancestral pact! Heee, Johnny... Tell me, what did you do with the gold coin he gave you?"
"What? What gold coin? It's not a coin, huh? Old lady," it's a 10,000 franc bill, he added.
After his grandmother's explanations, Johnny realized the extent of what he had done.
Johnny's eyes turned red like a tomato, and he stuttered.
"Mémé, so... so... I'm going to die...?" (Ivorian local language) with a discouraged and depressive face.
"I haven't even had kids yet, ahuii?" he whispered.
"No, you, you won't die, it doesn't depend on you, it's the genie who decides, oh! Titi, it could be your mom or your sister, oh!"
"Ahuii, tchè, if it's like that, I'm going to gbolor the guy right now, ahuii" (Ivorian local language).
Johnny thought and said to himself: "If someone's going to die at my place, I'd rather go tell him to give me all the money at once, like that, it's a draw, ahuii."
"But where's the money?" his grandmother exclaimed.
Johnny, discouraged, explained everything to his grandmother about the money and his friend.
Once done, his grandmother, so discouraged, got up and went into the bedroom, leaving Johnny on the armchair.
Johnny rushed out of the room, going to his friend's house, saying: "It's djizin, oh! Wp, wp... Wait, so I've signed a pact with the guy, what? It's djizin..."
But what will happen to Johnny now that he's signed this ancestral pact? Will his life plunge into horror? Will he find a way to save his life and those of his loved ones? Find out in the next chapter...
