The Third Raikage turned into a streak of lightning and charged straight toward the hidden Suna ANBU position.
Iwa shinobi in his path died instantly. His body moved so fast that most did not even see him coming. A hand through the chest. A kick that shattered ribs. A lariat that broke necks. Blood sprayed. Bodies fell. He carved a straight line of death through the enemy ranks without slowing.
He did not stop for even a second.
He had already figured out why the boy had not used his ability at the start. Why the boy had let him kill countless Iwa shinobi before he did so.
'The boy needs a clear sight of me and with me moving at such a high speed, he can't fix me with his eyes. That's why Ōnoki ordered his shinobi to lock me in place with the cement strategy. So all I have to do is deal with him first and at such a speed that the boy can't use his dojutsu on me.'
The Raikage grimaced in pain as he looked at the wounds on his body. The biggest one was his missing left arm. The stump still bled slowly. He had sealed the wound earlier by covering his hand with lightning and cauterizing the cut.
But he had already lost a lot of blood. He could feel lightheadedness creeping in at the edges of his vision.
'After dealing with the boy, I will have to retreat. I don't think I am in any condition to fight with just one arm and the blood loss. Besides, I have to get the information back to Kumo that Suna and Iwa have allied.' Ã thought
He carved a path through the Iwa shinobi. Every step was a kill. Every swing of his good arm sent men flying. He could finally see the Suna ANBU hiding in the distance.
"Found you," Ã muttered with a smirk.
Spider shouted immediately.
"Prepare yourselves! Protect Raven at all costs!"
All the ANBU with them moved into fighting positions. Hands formed seals. Weapons appeared. They stood ready to use any jutsu needed.
Shota did not run at the sight of Raikage coming his way.
He knew there was no way he could escape the Third Raikage with his speed.
'It's better to help them out. We might have a better chance.'
He looked at the lightning flash coming their way.
'How the fuck is this dude still fighting with so much blood loss and so many other wounds? These Iwa shinobi are so incapable! They could not take out the Raikage when he did not have enough chakra. Well, I can't blame them much. Dude is a monster even without chakra. He crushed people's skulls and necks with just his sheer strength.'
Shota turned to Spider for orders but Spider looked at three of the ANBU.
"You know what to do. We will do as we planned."
Shota felt panic rise.
'Wait what? Don't tell me they already prepared for a contingency in case the Raikage targets us. Fuck. Why did they not tell me this?'
He knew now was not the time to question Spider's decision or stop the ANBU. They were already moving.
Shota knew the three ANBU had no chance to stop the Raikage in a straight fight. So he did not know what they were going to do.
The three ANBU weaved hand signs together. Shota recognised the jutsu.
'If I am not wrong this jutsu is Three-Way Confusion. A combination genjutsu.'
Shota had read about it in the ANBU archives. The jutsu could be used with one person, but three made it much stronger. It confused the target's sense of direction completely. Left felt like right. Forward felt like backward.
They had used three people because even when Raikage was injured and in pain, his lightning cloak still made it difficult to entrap him in a genjutsu. They had probably also used a subtle genjutsu like this would be harder for him to notice. His mind would be too focused on fighting and blood loss.
Shota watched the Raikage or rather the lightning flash suddenly change direction.
Instead of coming straight at Shota, he veered toward Earthworm.
Earthworm had already formed his hand signs.
"Earth Style: Bottomless Swamp."
Earthworm slammed his hand on the ground.
A huge area of dirt turned into deep, sucking mud. The Raikage could not stop or change direction in time. His feet sank into the swamp. He tried to push through with his lightning cloak, but the mud pulled harder. But given time, he would easily be able to overpower the mud.
That was when Spider acted.
Wind-style chakra threads launched from his fingers. Even when they were rigid, Spider somehow managed to wrap them around the Raikage's body.
Wind was the direct counter to lightning and thus the threads did not break instantly.
The Raikage stopped moving completely.
The swamp and the threads together pinned him in place.
Shota looked in awe at the two ANBU commanders' skill. But he did not let that forget his duty.
He focused on the Raikage and used Erasure.
The lightning cloak disappeared instantly from the Raikage's body.
Before the Suna ANBU could finish him off, a bright beam came from the sky.
The cube of destruction erased the Third Raikage from existence.
Just like that, the strongest Raikage was gone and dead. He died before he could release the full might of his power.
Ōnoki floated down, looking cranky and tired.
"Fucking musclehead still killed a lot of my men even without his chakra."
