Shota stood frozen in front of the Kazekage's desk. His mind screamed while his body stayed perfectly still as he processed what he had just heard.
'A second tailed beast? Seven-Tails? What is this man smoking?'
If Shota was not too lazy to have a proper panic attack, he would be rolling on the floor right now, pulling his hair and crying about broken timelines.
In the original story, Suna only ever had Shukaku. One grumpy tanuki and that was it. Now the village was about to get the Seven-Tails because he erased some chakra one time? His butterfly wings were flapping way too hard.
He took a slow breath and forced himself to think.
'Alright what could I have done that made Rasa want another tailed beast.....no the question is how did my existence effect Rasa's decision making process? My existence means a possible S-rank shinobi for Suna and with my Erasure I can control the jinchurikis from going on a rampage. So that means Rasa wants more S rank shinobi in Suna.' Shota thought
Rasa wanted Suna stronger. A second jinchūriki meant more power, more respect, more safety. That matched Shota's own dream perfectly. He wanted the village untouchable so he and everyone he loved could live without fear.
So why was he panicking?
Because his future knowledge was turning into Swiss cheese, that's why.
Rasa continued talking, calm and clear.
"You must have learned about tailed beasts in ANBU training. The First Hokage gave them away after the war. Every village received two except Konoha, who kept the Nine-Tails, the strongest. We received only one, and the weakest in most eyes. But in the desert, even Shukaku can fight the Nine-Tails to a standstill."
He looked straight at Shota.
"One beast has always left us behind. This is our chance to fix that. The Seven-Tails is the third strongest. With it, Suna would rise. We would have a tailed beast that we could release outside of Land of Wind."
Shota found his voice.
"Why would Iwa give us such a prize? Won't that make us too powerful in Iwa's eyes? And what about Takigakure? The Seven-Tails is the only reason no one has invaded them yet. There is no way that they would just give it away."
Rasa's gold dust floated lazily as he answered.
"Their jinchūriki is ancient. He has only a few years left. Takigakure was strong when the First Hokage was alive. Now their sealing arts are weak. Their current jinchūriki is their best seal master. When he dies, they have no one good enough to seal a wild Seven-Tails into a new host. The beast would go on a rampage. The village would fall."
He paused.
"They would then ask for protection. Iwa and Suna together are more than enough to scare anyone away. In return, the beast would come to us. It would be our demand and Iwa is going to back it up."
Shota frowned. "But we still might fail to seal it. This is a huge risk for one maybe."
Rasa actually smiled. It was small, but real.
"Iwa is paying even if we fail. They send money, chakra metal, weapons, rare wood for puppets, everything we need to rebuild after the war. Most of the payment comes now, before the mission. They are desperate."
Shota's eyes widened.
That was a mountain of resources. Enough to fix the economy for years. Enough to arm every shinobi twice over.
He understood now.
Iwa was willing to bleed money to stop bleeding soldiers of its own die at the Raikage's hands. The Raikage would kill thousands before he fell. Paying Suna was cheaper.
"And Iwa wouldn't exactly be happy with us getting another tailed beast. But it is the only thing that managed to convince us to help them against Kumo so they had no choice." Rasa said
Shota asked the last question.
"How do we know Iwa will not betray us later?"
Rasa's smile grew colder. If Iwa just said that they can't allow them to have another tailed beast later, they would then just have one tailed beast and one more angry shinobi village after them.
"Because the agreement is not only between villages. The Wind Daimyō and the Earth Daimyō both signed it in person in secret. A daimyō's word is iron. If they break it, they lose face before every noble in their country. Their throne would shake. They will not risk it."
Shota nodded slowly.
Everything made sense.
Rasa watched him for a long moment.
"Any more questions?"
Shota shook his head.
Rasa stood.
"Then prepare. This mission is top secret. Only I, the three ANBU commanders, and Elder Ebizo know the full plan and the reward of the tailed beast. I told you because you are the key. Do not make me regret trusting a child."
Shota heard the hidden message loud and clear.
'I trust you so you must support me, or else I will bury you in paperwork forever.'
He almost laughed.
Rasa added one more thing before Shota left.
"And Raven… hold back just a little. Let the Raikage take a few hundred Iwa lives before he dies."
Shota bowed, face hidden behind the mask.
