Chapter 84: Go to the Police Station

The large infirmary went silent all of a sudden, the air thick with tension. The faint hum of the fluorescent light above was the only sound left.

Vigne's eyes widened as she stepped forward. Her face flickered between shock, hesitation, disappointment, and sorrow. Her voice trembled slightly when she finally spoke. "You... you two... what were you doing?! This is the school infirmary..."

Yeah, thanks, I can see that!

And for the record, nothing happened here! Not a single thing!

You people just have the worst timing imaginable!

"Lewd! Shameless! Hentai!"

A cold voice pierced through the silence. Gabriel appeared behind Vigne, glaring down at Kouya like he was the scum of the earth.

Before he could even reply, another voice piped up, full of curiosity and excitement.

"Eh? What's going on? Let me see, let me see!"

Satania's red hair bobbed as she peeked inside, only to have Gabriel shove her face back out.

"Don't look! You'll get a stye!"

"Huh? Why would I get a stye?" Satania asked, genuinely puzzled.

Gabriel huffed, crossing her arms.

"Because it'll stab your eyes like a needle, that's why."

Stop lying through your halo, damn it!

You personally grabbed it before—you know perfectly well it's not sharp!

Rikka finally managed to stand up, still blushing fiercely, her voice small and shaky.

"D-Don't misunderstand! We were just... just..."

Just your ass!

For the love of everything holy, stop hesitating at the most suspicious part! You're making me sound like a criminal!

"I'm telling you, it's all a misunderstanding. Do you believe me?" Kouya said, his expression dark.

The scene probably looked bad, sure—but it was nothing like what they were thinking. There was nothing to feel guilty about.

Vigne took a slow breath, then walked further inside. Her sharp violet eyes swept over every corner. She examined both Kouya and Rikka, her gaze landing on their perfectly neat clothes. Her expression softened, if only slightly.

It was the infirmary, after all—a public space, with the door wide open. Nobody with half a brain would try something indecent in here.

Still, her tone was icy as she said, biting her lip, "Kouya, please step outside. We'll take care of Rikka."

She hesitated, her voice growing heavier.

"And Kouya... even if Rikka is... a little unusual, that doesn't give you the right to take advantage of her."

Enough already!

She's a chunibyo, not mentally handicapped! No one took advantage of anyone!

Kouya sighed and turned to leave—but then a loud gasp stopped him in his tracks.

"Wait!" Satania pointed dramatically. "There's blood on the sofa!"

"B-Blood?!"

Vigne froze. The others immediately leaned closer. Sure enough, a faint crimson stain marked the leather.

Probably just from when Rikka's knee reopened...

But before Kouya could even open his mouth to explain, Satania pressed her fingers to her forehead and spoke in a low, detective-like tone.

"If it was just a knee wound... then why is there blood up there?"

The room fell silent.

Every girl's gaze locked onto Kouya, their expressions a mix of suspicion and shock.

Even Vigne's hand trembled slightly as she pressed it against her chest. The temperature in the room felt like it dropped by ten degrees.

"Rikka... what happened exactly?"

Rikka puffed her cheeks, frowning. "It's because Kouya was too rough earlier!"

"W-What?!" Vigne's voice cracked. Her face paled, and then her tone grew icy. "R-Rough?!"

The temperature dropped further, frost practically forming in the air.

Rikka blinked innocently, completely unaware of what she was implying. "He used so much force that it started bleeding again..."

Vigne lowered her head, shadows covering her eyes. The silence grew oppressive, heavy enough to crush air itself.

Hey, can you not phrase it like that?!

I was cleaning your wound! That's it!

"And Kouya also told me to cover my mouth and not make any noise..."

The temperature dropped to absolute zero.

Every girl's expression darkened in unison.

"Hentai!" Gabriel yelled, swinging her hand in a chopping motion. "Guess we'll just cut it off!"

Cut off what, exactly?!

Are you still hung up on that time you accidentally groped me?!

Raphiel, normally full of teasing smiles, suddenly turned serious.

"As much as I hate to say it, Kouya, using someone and pretending it didn't happen... that's awful."

Who did I use?!

I'm cleaner than tofu right now!

Kouya looked toward Vigne desperately.

You're the rational one here—you won't jump to conclusions, right?

Vigne didn't move. She just stared at him for a long, cold moment before parting her lips.

Her voice was calm, cutting, and final.

"Go to the police."

Of course.

Of course it's Vigne.

Wait—WHAT?!

Did she just say police?!

Vigne turned away, her expression unreadable. Her gaze drifted toward the window, where sunlight glinted softly on the glass.

"If you turn yourself in, the sentence might be reduced..."

"Pfft—" Kouya almost choked.

Fairness? Justice? Where the hell did those go?!

There's no proof! How am I already guilty?!

This world's gone mad!

...

A few days later—it was Saturday.

The misunderstanding had finally been cleared up. Everyone realized that Kouya had done nothing wrong. Still, the memory of that humiliating scene lingered. The girls' gazes were cold, their tone curt whenever they spoke to him.

Kouya tried to shrug it off. He'd seen worse. But even he had to admit—it stung a little.

That morning, just as he stretched and sat up in bed, his phone started buzzing.

"Kouya-sama! Are you free today?"

The voice was bright and full of energy—it was Tohru, the dragon maid. She sounded practically wagging her tail through the phone.

"Come have dinner at our new home tonight!"

"I'll think about it," Kouya said flatly.

"Kouya-sama, the weather's really nice today!"

"Mm."

"Kouya-sama, it rained the other day! Did you bring an umbrella?"

"Mm."

"Kouya-sama—"

"Mm."

There was a pause... and then a loud pouty growl.

"Kouya-sama, you're bullying me!"

He sighed. "What did I do now?"

"Why haven't you asked me about the new house yet?!"

Her voice rose, full of mock indignation.

Kouya could practically see her on the other side—tail swishing, puffing her cheeks, waiting for him to take the bait. For a dragon maid, she sure had mastered the art of acting like an overexcited puppy.

Fine. He'd humor her.

"So... you moved?"

"That's right! We moved yesterday! Kanna, Kobayashi, and I found a gorgeous house—it's so pretty!" she chirped, practically vibrating with pride.

"And you didn't ask me to help?"

"We hired movers! Besides, it's all girls' stuff—it wouldn't be proper for you to pack it!"

Her tone turned smug, almost singing with delight.

"Now Kanna and I have our own rooms! Ehehehehe~"

That giggle again!

Even through the phone, Kouya could imagine her smug grin and wagging tail.

Before he could say anything, another voice came through the line, dry and annoyed.

"Stop giggling like an idiot," said Kobayashi.

"Kouya, I'm cleaning the place today, so come by tonight. We'll celebrate the move with dinner, alright?"
