Chapter 3 - CHAPTER 3: THE NEW ARRIVALS

My grandmother had probably gone to a place very far away, and perhaps… she would never return again.

While I was still stumbling around, my mind spinning in chaos, the old wooden door—untouched for so long—suddenly creaked open. A human silhouette stepped inside.

I—a wandering soul drifting aimlessly through the house—instinctively turned toward the light coming from the doorway. My eyes widened, my pupils dilating.

"Who are they?" I wondered.

Why were these people entering my grandmother's house? I didn't know either.

There were four of them: a middle-aged woman, a pot-bellied man, a girl around middle-school age, and a little boy who looked like he hadn't even entered first grade yet. They seemed like a family, carrying quite a lot of belongings—as if they were moving in.But this was my grandmother's house. I didn't recognize any of them. Maybe someone had told them they could stay here?

When the little boy called the woman "Mom, are we going to live here?", I was certain—they were a family.

They walked inside, and the middle-aged woman complained about how dusty the house was.Which was fair. It had been abandoned for a whole year after all.

Quietly following behind them, I watched closely.

First, they cleaned my grandmother's room. What set my blood boiling was when they threw her bed outside, saying it was too old.But that bed was where my beloved grandmother used to rest.It was where she and I sat together reading books, where she told me those magical fairy tales…I couldn't allow anyone to treat the only thing left of hers that way.

I rushed forward, trying to block them from tossing it out—but of course, it didn't work. They walked right through me, carrying my grandmother's bed out and throwing it into the yard.

All I could do was stand there… watching my memories being thrown away.

Then, even worse—they threw away all the photos of me and Koki.Pictures of me and that little dog playing together, all of them were tossed out.One by one.Until not a single one remained.

I swear I was beginning to hate these people—Even though… I knew they didn't mean to hurt me.

If you've read this far, thank you so much. I'm a bit slow at releasing chapters, so sorry about that :))
