Chapter 9 - Rigel

The part that was initially celebrate for Auto, has now became a big fighting ground. "I guess my first job is to heal everyone at my own party." He watched in silence with fatherly disappointment in his eyes.

But unable to avoid feeling sleepy, Auto dozed off, knocking himself flat on the table.

Oh, a haze again... Wait... But this time it's strong, it hurts! my head it's-

The pain... It's gone.

No wait-

Auto felt a jolt of aberration, the gale grew more violently. And he felt bats flying in his head.

The noise! The noise it- make it stop! Please make it stop!

"Why hello there." A familiar voice tended to ask. The pangs quickly drove off, but Auto the sensation of being electrocuted still hasn't diverged.

Auto briefly took a look at the familiar voice. He didn't feel hatred, not happiness, but he was indeed surprised.

"Dang it's you?" Auto said in relief, "Oh thank god I thought I was gonna die. What was that for?" Quickly picking himself back up. He gained his composure to talk with The Wish Granter.

"Why surprised?" The Wish Granter asked teasingly. "Ugh could we just get this over with, what the hell kind of intro was that?"

"Chill, chill, kiddo. It wasn't me, you just aren't used to this area yet. Oh my gawd, Jesus Christ." The Wish Granter said in response.

"Okay that's fair. But who the fuck is Jesus?" Auto asked inquisitively.

"Oh, right you're a sleeper. I can't explain to you yet, so cheer on Beta." The Wish Granter said with a winky, although we cannot see his eyes. So that's a problem, he did stick his tongue out with a winky so we can tell that he did do a wink.

"My name isn't Beta-- you know what never mind. Anyways why'd you bring me here? I thought I said I gave up the fight." Auto questioned requesting for inquiry.

"That's exactly why-- you're my apprentice now, this is one of the many trials I'm giving you. Think of it as training." The Wish Granter explained.

"Hmph... Understandable, but could you at least tell me where I am?" Auto requested calmly.

"Hm, maybe next time. Bye!" The Wish Granter said as he snapped his fingers.

The white void began to shatter and Auto is pulled back to "reality".

'Ugh my head hurts-- wait... That guy didn't even answer my question!' Auto slammed in frustration. But to his plight he adrenalized on a bar table after getting knocked out from the night prior.

Noticing that his hand felt cushioned after he smashed in onto the table he noticed Xavier with a huge bump on his forehead. "Aw- where did you get that?" Auto wanted to know.

To which Xavier just chuckled waving it off and saying "it's nothing" while the two bartenders and a few waiters and waitresses just giggled along, not saying a word.

Hey! If it isn't our healer getting knocked out?

Victor acclaimed in the distance smiling from ear to ear. "Remember the fight that broke out last night? Let's get your potions to the test!" Victor squeezed Auto tightly with laughter.

"Eh... Another trip to collect ingredients." Auto sighed in disappointment. Why can't I just have one break day? AUTHOR PLEASE! YOUR NARRATORS EVEN BROKE THE FOURTH WALL JUST AT LEAST LET ME HAVE A BREAK IN THE THIRD WALL-

"You don't have to worry Auto, someone took notes of your ingredients and we brought some in." Victor gave a thumbs up, although Auto didn't seem to hopeful about it. It was worth it to be optimistic.

"Okay there are the ingredients we bro-"

Sh-sh shu shut it! shush! These are all wrong! Well... Except for the adhaella leaves you got like 7 of them but let me show you how to get the correct ingredients first.

First the adhaella leaves, these can only be found on the ground. Sometimes they're grouped in vines and they look similar to poison ivy, which you guys brought hundreds of. But what differentiates them is adhaella leaves don't have Phyllotaxy, I don't know how you guys couldn't spot that but let's move on.

These are bungi mushrooms, on the ground they are like regular mushrooms with red spots. But once you pick them up they turn brown, I can see why you mistook this one.

Next is Eve's Adam, this is not an ordinary apple. You guys brought in 5 different types of the wrong apple, the Eve's Adam only grows under these magic trees that glow vibrant colors such as purple, orange, blue, and indigo.

Auto ranted for hours giving a fully detailed tutorial about the ingredients and their properties to be able to differentiate them apart from each other. And by the end of the day he became a search instructor helping people work on manuals for herbs and treatments.

He went too far with teacher them how to craft potions, because it was too complex for the majority of them so he was only left with a fraction of the group by sundown.

'Ah that was a good day of work their Auto I praise you.' Victor patted onto on the back, Auto felt a spark light up inside him. 'Aight' he replied nodding, and they departed ways 'Father huh.' He thought quietly at the back of his mind 'Must be nice.'

Rigel wellied over a wooden beer bottle, colliding it to some junk in the alleyway. Bleak it was, and indeed to him he himself started to felt it was getting repetitive, mundane even.

He didn't udnerstand why he was feeling so desolate, but one thing was clear; he envied Auto. And he is disgusted by something inside him, that he just could not tell why.

Disgruntled, he figured that he'd go for a stroll on a downcast. Feeling out of sorts he glanced over to the direction of a kid by the corner getting bullied, it wasn't that nobody was there to help. It was that nobody wanted to help.

Poor kid.

But he reminds me a little bit about me.

He approached firmly, with his approaching presence the bullies felt a strong fear coursing through their veins. They ran quickly.

The boy sat teary-eyed on the floor but relieved that someone finally came to help.

'Thank you kind sir... Your name is Rigel right?'

Don't thank me, I was just doing it on a whim.

Rigel shrugged it off.

'Still... No one came to help me because I have no parents, I'm grateful for you.'

It pushed a spark inside Rigel, but his face seemed undeterred. Keeping the nonchalant facade he's been maintaining throughout the course of his life.

That must be some bullshit they're on, just because you don't have parents to teach you stuff doesn't make you any less human.

The boy smiled, it seemed this man in front of him accepted him genuinely, his kindness brought him joy and relief.

'Say... Could you teach me how to be strong like you?'

The kid requested with bubbly eyes.

No one can be like me.

'But maybe you could teach me sometim-'

Rigel shushed him mid-sentence.

I told you I can't, not today kid... Follow me.

Rigel responded with a strongly unwelcoming face, and walked the kid over to a pastry shop. 'Pick anything you want.' He softly demanded.

'Really? But I don't have any money.' The kid answered.

'Just pick one already I have 20 silver coins in my pocket, that's the budget.' With a strong tone he said, but a gentle heart that followed.

The kid sparked with excitement, picking the sweetest and softest pastries. Rigel sneaked a smiled but immediately wiped it off. 'Smiles have expiry dates.' He told himself.

'Okay that will be 5 silver coins and 11 copper.' The pastry shop owner told him.

6 silver keep the change.

'Wow you're so cool mister, can I see you again tomorrow?' The kid chomped on a cinnamon roll while talking.

If there is a tomorrow, anyways stay away from dangerous people. Make sure you stay alive for another 24 hours. Nice and breathing.

Rigel said before leaving to go home.

'Mister Rigel! I can see why everyone likes you! You're awesome! Please teach me how to be strong some day!'

The kid said strongly undeterred, putting a vivid smile on Rigel's face but this time he did not hide it.

Just make sure there is a tomorrow.
