Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 Searching for a Soul Ring

Inside a carriage, Matthew and Yin Hao sat, while Su Yuntao reluctantly drove from the outside.

There were only three people in the carriage, including him, an old man, and a child. Who else would drive?

Inside, Matthew continued to study Yin Hao's martial soul with curiosity.

"This Blue Silver Grass has such incredible resilience after its mutation! It's unbelievable!"

Su Yuntao, who had been enjoying the cool breeze outside, spoke up.

"Hey kid, have you decided what kind of soul beast's soul ring you want?"

  Yin Hao replied.

"I want a soul ring around 400 years old. If possible, it would be even better if it added some special attributes to my Blue Silver Grass."

  Su Yuntao chuckled twice.

"You've got a good idea, kid. In my opinion, with your Blue Silver Grass martial soul, any ten-year soul ring will do..."

Before Yin Hao could speak, Matthew couldn't help but interrupt.

"Do you think he's like you? What's your innate soul power level? He's at full innate soul power. Kid, don't listen to him. Grandpa's going to find you a suitable soul ring."

Yin Hao smiled and nodded, giving Matthew a grateful look.

This remark stung Su Yuntao, but he couldn't refute it. Even if what Matthew said wasn't true, Matthew's level was higher than his, and he couldn't disrespect Matthew in public.

  ...

The three arrived at the Soul Hunting Forest. After the gatekeeper checked their passes and found no problems, they were allowed in.

Once inside, Yin Hao looked around, curious about everything.

Although he had read the original Douluo Continent book and many fanfictions in his previous life, this was the first time Yin Hao had ever seen a soul beast.

As for the back mountain of Holy Soul Village, there were no soul beasts there, just ordinary wild animals.

Matthew stood beside Yin Hao, looking at him with a kind expression, occasionally telling him about soul beasts.

"This is called a Lonely Bamboo. It grows one meter tall in ten years. This one is over five meters tall, so it's a fifty-year-old Soul Beast."

"This is a Horned Deer. Its antlers are its most powerful weapon, but it's docile and generally won't attack people."

  "This is a Fire Fox..."

Matthew didn't overlook a single Soul Beast, earnestly explaining them to Yin Hao. Even Yin Hao himself didn't know why Matthew was being so kind to him.

Listening to Matthew's words, Yin Hao silently memorized them, but his main attention wasn't on them.

The moment he entered the Soul Hunting Forest, he had already activated the Blue Silver Emperor's innate domain, the Blue Silver Domain. However, his mental power was currently limited, and the Blue Silver Domain's range was only a mere two hundred meters.

Although the range wasn't large, it was enough to explore unknown areas.

  ...

A busy day passed, but they still hadn't found a single Soul Beast that satisfied Yin Hao.

With no other option, the three of them found a more open area to camp, and then hunted a few wild rabbits and pheasants.

While hunting rabbits, Matthew revealed his martial soul and spirit rings. An eagle-like martial soul appeared, surrounded by four spirit rings: white, yellow, yellow, and purple—a true Soul Master. After

processing the rabbits and pheasants, Yin Hao volunteered to grill the meat as a token of his gratitude.

He skewered a rabbit and placed it on the grill. Then, Yin Hao spent one gold spirit coin to exchange for a few bottles of barbecue seasoning from his previous life in the system shop. A few small bottles cost Yin Hao one gold spirit coin—this system is really damn greedy!

However, the quality was as good as ever. After evenly sprinkling the seasoning on the rabbit, the aroma immediately filled the air.

Smelling this aroma, Su Yuntao, who was already quite hungry, started to rumble loudly, so loudly that even Matthew could hear it clearly.

Su Yuntao lowered his head somewhat awkwardly, avoiding Matthew's gaze.

However, Yin Hao didn't let him feel awkward for long. He took the pole with the rabbit on it off the rack, then removed the rabbit from the pole and placed it on the large leaves that had been laid out on the ground. He then said,

"Grandpa Matthew, Brother Su Yuntao, it's ready. Come and eat."

The two quickly went over and sat down on the ground, not caring about the mess.

Su Yuntao tore off a piece of rabbit meat and put it in his mouth.

"Hmm...it smells pretty good. Kid, it wasn't for nothing that I spent all day looking for your soul ring. You should roast a few more to thank me..."

Before Yin Hao could speak, Matthew, who was sitting next to him, spoke up first.

"Why do you talk so much? Can't eating meat shut you up? If you talk again, you can stop eating..."

Su Yuntao quickly shut his mouth and started eating the rabbit meat.

Yin Hao smiled. After a day of conversation, he understood why Matthew Nuo liked to tease Su Yuntao. The goddess Su Yuntao was pursuing, Sisi, was Matthew Nuo's niece. However, her parents had died when she was young, and she had grown up with Matthew Nuo. Although she was just a niece, Matthew Nuo treated her like his own daughter.

Now, a pig trying to steal his sweetheart was standing right in front of him, daring to do so every day. No wonder Matthew Nuo liked to tease him.

After dinner, Matthew Nuo sprinkled some insect repellent powder around the tent and then took Yin Hao to sleep, leaving Su Yuntao alone to miserably keep watch.

As the saying goes, there were only three people here—an old man and a child. If he didn't keep watch, who would?

Of course, Matthew Nuo didn't make Su Yuntao keep watch all night. In the latter half of the night, he volunteered to relieve Su Yuntao.

The next day, after breakfast, the three set off again. After dealing with some unruly spirit beasts, they wandered around until they reached a pool of water.

When they were only about 150 or 160 meters away from the pool, Yin Hao suddenly looked up and blocked the way for Matthew and Su Yuntao, who were walking forward.

Su Yuntao looked at Yin Hao, puzzled, and said,

  "Kid, what's wrong..."

Before he could finish the sentence, a "plop" was heard, and a pale blue creature over 20 meters long suddenly emerged from the calm water.

Its blood-red vertical pupils were like two clusters of blazing flames, reflecting the sharp, straight horn with noble golden spirals. Its thick, fully transformed dragon tongue occasionally licked its white, neat fangs.

Matthew, with his extensive knowledge, immediately recognized the spirit beast. In an instant, cold sweat broke out on his back. He grabbed Yin Hao's hand and Su Yuntao's arm, not daring to say a word for fear of disturbing the spirit beast, and slowly led the two behind a tree.
