Chapter 20 - Chapter 20 Yin Hao's Background

It was the same carriage they'd come in, but this time Xiao Wu was there. Old Jack drove, while Tang San, Yin Hao, and Xiao Wu sat in the back.

After more than a year of "sleeping with" Yin Hao and feeding him premium crystal radishes, Xiao Wu was now extremely dependent on him. Whenever Yin Hao wasn't around, she immediately transformed into the fearless Xiao Wu.

The moment Yin Hao appeared, she instantly became a cute, cuddly little rabbit, wagging her tail and waiting for him to feed her. After all, what rabbit could resist the charm of premium crystal radishes? Especially since the person feeding her the radishes was so handsome…

Among the three in the back, Tang San was tirelessly cultivating. For some reason, his cultivation speed was getting slower and slower. Helpless, Tang San could only cultivate for even longer than in the original story, yet his soul power was still not as high as in the original work.

In the original story, Tang San was close to level 17, but in this life, he's only around level 14 or 15, two levels lower than in the original. So now, Tang San spends all his free time cultivating, even skipping the blacksmith's shop.

Xiao Wu, sitting in the back of the carriage, was munching on a premium crystal radish while talking to Old Jack, who was driving. It was clear that Old Jack liked Xiao Wu quite a bit.

Yin Hao smiled at the smiling Old Jack. In both his past and present lives, this was the only person who made him feel the love of an elder, and only in front of him could Yin Hao completely let his guard down.

The carriage wasn't going fast, but fortunately, Notting City wasn't far from Holy Soul Village. In less than half a day, the four of them arrived at the entrance of Holy Soul Village.

Tang San jumped off the carriage and said,

"Grandpa Jack, I'm going home to see my father first. You don't need to worry about me; I can walk back myself."

Old Jack looked at Tang San under the carriage, seemingly wanting to say something, but then swallowed his words and drove the carriage home.

Back home, Old Jack first unloaded the carriage from the horses. After feeding them hay, he turned to Yin Hao and said,

"Xiao Hao, you play with Xiao Wu for a while. Grandpa's going to cook. You must be hungry after such a long journey."

  "Okay."

Old Jack then turned and went into the kitchen to cook, while Yin Hao took Xiao Wu on a tour of Holy Soul Village, where he had lived for six years.

"Brother Hao, why is your village so..."

Xiao Wu hesitated, holding the top-grade crystal radish, but stopped mid-sentence.

Yin Hao picked up where Xiao Wu left off.

  "It's a bit run-down, isn't it?"

  Xiao Wu nodded.

"Run-down it is, you know? It was the village chief of this run-down village who took me, a child with no blood relation, in and raised me to this age."

Xiao Wu was stunned. On the way here, she had heard Yin Hao call Old Jack "Grandpa," and she instinctively assumed that Old Jack was Yin Hao's biological grandfather. She hadn't expected that he wasn't.

"Grandpa Jack isn't your... biological grandfather?"

Yin Hao shook his head with a smile.

"I heard Grandpa Jack say that six years ago, several peerless experts came near Holy Soul Village, and a battle broke out. The aftershocks of their battle were extremely powerful, far beyond what ordinary people could withstand.

But for some reason, I survived. Only I survived. My parents are long gone. I was just an infant in a blank field. That's when Grandpa Jack took me in."

  "I see..."

Xiao Wu said with some regret, seemingly truly saddened by Yin Hao's fate, her two fluffy rabbit ears drooping.

Although Old Jack only said that several peerless experts had arrived nearby, as a transmigrator who had read the original novel, he knew that it must be the battle that broke out between Tang Hao, Qian Xunji, and others.

Although Tang Hao was only trying to protect himself at the time, the hatred for his parents was irreconcilable and he naturally couldn't let it go unavenged; it was just that he wasn't strong enough at the moment.

Seeing Xiao Wu's expression, Yin Hao smiled slightly, feeling a little relieved.

"But isn't it pretty good now? With Grandpa Jack and you here, I feel like I have family..."

Hearing Yin Hao's words, Xiao Wu was stunned for a moment, then said in a voice only she could hear.

  "Family... do I... count?"

Just then, a voice interrupted Xiao Wu's reverie.

"Xiao Hao, Xiao Wu, dinner's ready!"

Old Jack stood at the door, greeting the two with a kind face.

Yin Hao looked at Xiao Wu beside him and said.

  "Let's go, Xiao Wu."

Xiao Wu nodded, quickened her pace to catch up with Yin Hao, and then took his hand with her small, jade-like hand. They walked together towards Old Jack.

Yin Hao was slightly taken aback, then took Xiao Wu's hand in return, forming a hand-holding gesture.

Seeing this, Old Jack's smile widened. Although Yin Hao was only seven years old, he seemed to already see his great-grandson beckoning to him.

Sitting down at the dining table, they found several of Yin Hao's favorite dishes, as well as carrots that Old Jack had specially prepared for Xiao Wu. There were seven or eight plates of various sizes, quite a lavish spread.

As Old Jack served food to the two of them, he rambled on, saying things like, "I remember when you were this age, you were already engaged," and "Da Zhuang's eldest son in the next village is only 13, and his grandson can already talk." Yin Hao felt quite embarrassed, but Xiao Wu seemed very interested, occasionally asking Old Jack a question, which made him even happier.

As they were finishing their meal, Old Jack wiped his mouth and looked at Yin Hao and Xiao Wu.

"Xiao Hao, you eat with Xiao Wu for a bit. Grandpa will go and prepare a room for her and put on some bedding so she doesn't get cold..."

Hearing this, Xiao Wu, who was eating with her head down, looked up, a few grains of rice still clinging to her lips, and asked with a puzzled expression.

"Why do I need a room? Can't Hao-ge and I just sleep together? That's how we sleep at school..."

These words made Yin Hao, who was picking up food, freeze instantly. He glanced at Xiao Wu in shock, then closed his eyes in annoyance. *

Damn it, I've practically ruined Xiao Wu this past year...*

Turning to look at Old Jack, sure enough, his face was beaming with a smile after hearing Xiao Wu's words. Looking at Yin Hao, then at the still-confused Xiao Wu, Old Jack thought it was time to think about what to name his great-grandson.

Liu the Blind Man from the back village is quite skilled at naming things; I'll take two fish to him tomorrow and ask for his advice…
