Chapter 23 - Chapter 23 Heading to Wuhun City

Left with no other choice, Yin Hao forced a smile and asked,

"Sister Hu Liena, who gave you this box?"

Hu Liena only thought for a moment before answering.

"It was given to me by my teacher, His Holiness the Pope."

"Do you know what the note inside says?"

Hearing this, Hu Liena immediately became interested, staring at Yin Hao with wide, curious eyes.

  "What does it say?"

  "It says... 'Marry me...'"

Hu Liena was stunned for a moment, her first reaction being that it was impossible, her second being that it wasn't impossible that her teacher had personally arranged for her to come here to find Yin Hao...

Seeing that Hu Liena truly believed him, Yin Hao finally couldn't help but laugh.

  "Hahaha..."

Hearing Yin Hao's laughter, Hu Liena realized she had been tricked by him, and she was immediately embarrassed and angry, but before she could speak, Yin Hao spoke.

"Miss Hu Liena, please be more discerning in the future. Don't believe everything you hear, or you'll be fooled... Hahaha..."

Hearing Yin Hao's arrogant and confident laughter, where was the trace of his previous shyness and gullibility?

At this moment, even if Hu Liena was naive, she realized that she had been completely manipulated by Yin Hao from the very beginning.

Enraged, she glared at Yin Hao.

  "Yin Hao!"

Yin Hao's laughter instantly subsided, and he lowered his head slightly, seemingly reverting to his innocent demeanor, speaking cautiously.

  "Sister Hu Liena, what's wrong?"

His polite and cautious manner extinguished Hu Liena's anger like a bucket of cold water, leaving her unsure whether to strike or pull back her arm.

She was still completely bewildered, not understanding how Yin Hao, who had just been mocking her, had suddenly become a shy little brother.

But before she could think further, Yin Hao leaned closer again, looking into Hu Liena's eyes, and said earnestly.

"See? I told you to be more discerning. Look at you, you've been fooled again! Huh? Hahaha..."

With that, Yin Hao flashed away, putting distance between himself and Hu Liena.

  "Ah!"

Since awakening her martial soul and being taken in as a disciple by Bibi Dong, when had Hu Liena ever suffered such humiliation?

In Spirit City, everyone treated her with utmost respect. Even the titled Douluo elders dared not be arrogant in her presence. Who would dare to play tricks on her like Yin Hao?

  ...

In the end, Yin Hao followed Hu Liena onto the carriage bound for Spirit City. The titled Douluo who had come with Hu Liena also appeared after they boarded the carriage; it was none other than Chrysanthemum Douluo Yue Guan, one of Bibi Dong's two generals of the Spirit Hall.

After learning that Bibi Dong had sent Hu Liena to find him, Yin Hao no longer hesitated and decided to go to Spirit City to investigate.

As for whether there would be any danger? What was Yin Hao's cultivation level? How powerful was the Spirit Hall? If Pope Bibi Dong wanted Yin Hao dead, would there be any safe place left on the entire Douluo Continent? If that were the case, going to Wuhun City or not wouldn't make a difference.

Of course, what truly made Yin Hao decide to go to Wuhun City with Hu Liena was that note.

It contained no astonishing secrets or horrifying events, only three words: "Sharingan."

This was Yin Hao's secret, a secret he believed no one else could possibly know, yet it appeared in a box. How could Yin Hao not be shocked?

Chrysanthemum Douluo drove the carriage from outside, while Hu Liena and Yin Hao sat inside.

Looking at Yin Hao, who sat opposite her with his eyes closed, Hu Liena curiously looked him up and down.

This guy is the reason I was sent to this godforsaken place by the teacher for two months. But... why did the teacher want him? Besides being a bit good-looking, having a higher-end spirit ring configuration, and being a bit more talented, he doesn't seem to have anything special about him, right?

  "Have you looked enough?"

Yin Hao had opened his eyes and was looking at her without her noticing.

Hu Liena coughed awkwardly and tried to argue.

"You're so nosy, why are you telling me where I'm looking? If you're worried about people seeing you, you might as well buy a mask and cover your face."

Yin Hao didn't argue with her. He was feeling very complicated. In the past few days on the way to the Spirit Hall, he had considered countless possibilities.

He even thought that Bibi Dong was also a transmigrator, but she knew everything about him, including the system. He also guessed that there might be other transmigrators around her who could foresee everything, and so on. However, all of this could only be confirmed when he met Bibi Dong.

Yin Hao said to Hu Liena.

"How much longer until we reach Wuhun City?"

Hu Liena was somewhat surprised that Yin Hao didn't argue with her. She had tried to find fault with him quite a bit these past few days, but without exception, he had always managed to shut her down. Today was an exception, though.

Hu Liena then pulled back the curtain of the carriage window to look outside, roughly assessing the location before replying ,

"Soon. If nothing unexpected happens, we should arrive by noon today."

Yin Hao nodded, then closed his eyes to rest.

Hu Liena, feeling she had gotten nowhere, stopped talking to Yin Hao.

About two or three hours later, the previously quiet outside gradually filled with the sounds of people talking, then more and more, including shouts, reprimands, and hawking.

Yin Hao opened his eyes, lifted the curtain at the front of the carriage, and saw gray city walls. After walking a little further, a tall, crimson city gate came into view.

The soldiers at the gate immediately stopped the carriage.

  "Halt! What are you doing?"

An older soldier rushed to the soldier who had just arrived, kicked him aside, and then bowed slightly to Chrysanthemum Douluo.

"Excuse me, sir, he's new here and doesn't recognize you."

Chrysanthemum Douluo waved his hand; he wasn't petty enough to argue with a soldier on guard duty. He then continued driving into the city.

  ...

Spirit Hall, inside the Papal Palace.

A stunningly beautiful woman wearing a crown and purple robes sat on a high throne, working on documents.

At this moment, a soldier entered from the Papal Palace entrance, first bowing to Bibi Dong.

"Your Holiness, the Holy Maiden has returned."

Hearing this, Bibi Dong finally stopped reviewing the documents, put them down, and looked up.

"Did she return on her own?"

"No, the Holy Maiden brought a young man with long blue hair."

A smile finally appeared on Bibi Dong's icy face, and her beautiful features couldn't hide her excitement.

  "Quickly, let them in."

  "Yes, sir."

The soldier withdrew after receiving the order, while Bibi Dong sat on the Pope's throne, a look of delight on her face.
