While Zephyr and Aura were walking through the streets of the city, enjoying the sights and engaging in town pleasantries, the inn sat surprisingly quiet. Whispers and murmurs were plenty, and the adventurers and mercenaries had plenty of tea to spill. From the talk of the town–the hero's small pecker, to the unexpected tussle between the instructors early in the morning. Not to mention, the merchant boy, who had not only saved the hero from the goblin dungeon but was also selling items to easily disarm or kill monsters.
There was plenty of chatter to be had, but since Freya's eyes were on them and most of the topics were related to her son, they kept their voices hushed and made fun of Rudy and his group in a deceptive silence.
However, amongst this very group was another pair of girls who'd been trying to avoid each other since the morning. But since everyone else in their party seemed to be busy with something, they were forced to share a table while getting themselves something to eat.
"About last night…"
"Shhhss!" Instantly feeling her cheeks burning with embarrassment, Roxanne gestured to the fox-girl on the other end to remain quiet. "I…I don't wanna talk about it, okay?"
"I guess…" Swallowing her words, Audrey looked away from Roxanne. But as her eyes fell on a pair of casually dressed yet familiar-looking royal instructors, she quickly turned back to her companion. "Hey, isn't that them? The trio that got beaten up this morning. Right?"
"Hmm?" Following Audrey's gaze, Roxanne too noticed the very same instructors who had once given her a tough time during training. "What are they doing here? I thought the guild gave them accommodation at the guild building itself."
"Who knows?"
As the two continued to watch them closely, they noticed how the trio was trying their best not to get their faces seen. Even Freya at the reception was surprised by their presence, but after a quick exchange between the two parties, the instructors were led upstairs by one of the employees. Freya's gaze still lingered on them, and only once they were gone did she notice that Roxanne and Audrey were both staring at her.
'What?' She relayed to them with a shrug of her shoulders; however, shaking their head, they returned their attention to their table.
"What's happening there?" Roxanne muttered to herself.
"With how the last few days have been, I honestly have no clue…" Audrey responded, her gaze slowly returning to Roxanne.
Staring at her for a moment, she was once again reminded of last night. And although she tried to forget it, a question kept coming up in her mind. They'd done what they'd done right next to each other, but was she…
"Roxy, can I ask you something?" She asked with a deep breath.
"What?" Roxanne inquired, not expecting anything too crazy.
"I know I shouldn't ask, but are you a virgin?" Dropping that question right in the middle of Roxanne trying to drink water, Audrey shocked the woman's entire system. And although her body was trying to spew the water out, Roxanne covered her mouth so as not to make a mess.
Forcing the water down her tight throat, the healer of their group beat her chest a few times before looking up at the rogue. Squinting angrily at her, she leaned forward on the table and complained in a whisper.
"Where the hell did that come from?!"
"It's just–" leaning back into her chair to get away from Roxanne's face, Audrey forced the truth out. "I just thought that maybe, since you look so good and well, any guy would love to have you."
"That doesn't mean I'm–" stopping herself from saying that word, Roxanne leaned back into her chair and glanced up and down at Audrey's body. "You say that, but then your dress with nets and a skirt that leaves your butt halfway out, makes you look like someone who wouldn't be one."
"I-it's easier to move in this!" Audrey protested, trying to defend her dress choice.
"Oh, come on, we both know that shorts would get the job done just as effectively." Folding her hands, Roxanne continued to glare at her. "Why are you asking me all this anyway?"
"I just…I just wanted to know if you had a boyfriend or something that we didn't know of."
"You already know that I don't."
"I guess you're right," letting out a nervous laugh, Audrey tried to downplay the whole thing. However, as her smile faded and she leaned forward on the table, she couldn't help but ask. "Um, by the way, do you think if there was someone that I liked, would my dress impress them or get their attention at least?"
Raising an eyebrow, Roxanne tried to figure out where this was going.
"Why do you ask?" In the middle of asking that question, however, her eyes widened as the realization hit. Leaning forward once again with a subtle smile, she asked. "Don't tell me you have a crush on someone? Is that why you've been wearing these revealing clothes?"
Blushing red as an apple, Audrey glanced between Roxanne and the floor. She didn't wanna admit it, and Roxanne wouldn't let it go now that she knew there was someone their fox-girl was interested in. But how could she really tell, when the man on whom she had a crush was trying to woo Roxanne? And so, with her lips sealed, Audrey kept her secret just a little longer. Roxanne insisted on her revealing, but diffusing the conversation by bringing up last night again, Audrey managed to escape the friendly interrogation.
While the two were busy with their conversation, Zephyr and Aura finally came back to the inn. Being called towards the reception by Freya, they were told that the instructors were looking for them for some reason and that they were waiting in their room since they'd apparently been given permission by the fiend.
"What's going on there with you and those three?" Freya asked, trying to learn more about the whole ordeal.
However, just smiling at her, Zephyr ignored her question and instead decided to take a seat and get some dinner before meeting up with the instructors waiting for him in his room. Of course, his current appearance and the one that he'd shown them were different, but that wouldn't matter, not when Aura and he had plenty of deception up their sleeves.
