Chapter 31 - Chapter 31 Lin Ning's Halberd

Kai and Garp were standing on the deck of the Doghead Battleship, chatting animatedly.

Garp's hearty laughter echoed around, occasionally interspersed with a few complaints about Luffy.

Kai felt that the old man was much more easygoing than he had imagined. But just then, the sky suddenly changed.

The previously clear sky abruptly darkened, and grey-black clouds rapidly rolled, as if stirred by some force.

A strong wind began to blow over the sea, and waves crashed against the ship, making clear sounds.

A low rumble of thunder could be faintly heard in the air, making people feel uneasy. Kai frowned slightly, sensing a strange aura.

"What's going on?" Kai murmured softly, his gaze sweeping towards the distant horizon.

A strong sense of unease welled up in his heart. This weather... it didn't seem like a natural phenomenon; it felt more like an artificial force! A chill ran down his spine.

Just then, a scene flashed through his mind.

It was a middle-aged man, wearing a dark green long cloak, which flapped wildly in the strong wind.

On the right side of his face was a striking red lightning-bolt shaped tattoo.

His figure seemed to meld with the wind and rain, surrounded by wind, rain, thunder, and lightning, exuding an overwhelming presence.

Kai subconsciously tightened his grip on the Fangtian halberd in his hand. The image disappeared, but the strong sense of pressure still lingered in his mind.

"Tsk, this weather..." Garp looked up at the gloomy sky, his brows furrowed.

His expression was no longer relaxed; it even carried a hint of displeasure, as if he understood something.

Kai remained silent for a moment, then finally spoke: "Old man, don't you think this weather... isn't natural?"

Garp turned to look at him, his expression turning serious: "You noticed it too?"

Kai nodded. The image in his mind wouldn't go away. After a moment of hesitation, he asked,

"Who is that cloaked man? The one surrounded by wind, rain, thunder, and lightning..."

As soon as he finished speaking, Garp's face changed instantly.

"What did you say?!" Garp's voice suddenly rose, his eyes filled with disbelief:

"You just saw a cloaked man? What did he look like? Describe him in detail for me!"

Kai frowned and described the image in his mind in detail.

As soon as he finished, Garp was completely stunned, his mouth slightly agape, as if he had heard something unbelievable.

"You kid..." Garp's voice was low, as if he was trying to process what he had just heard.

He stared at Kai and suddenly asked, "Have you already mastered top-tier Observation Haki?"

"Top-tier Observation?" Kai was taken aback, then shook his head, "I just learned what Observation Haki is."

Kai gestured to the Observation, Armament, and Six Powers techniques he had just received.

Garp blinked, took a deep breath, then looked at Kai with a complex expression:

"Monster... truly monstrous talent. You don't know Observation Haki, yet you can perceive past scenes based on current omens... Tsk, you're a born freak!"

Kai was bewildered and rubbed his nose: "Old man, what exactly is Observation Haki?"

Garp pondered for a moment, then explained: "Observation Haki is a power of perception.

It allows you to sense movements around you, and even perceive an enemy's intentions.

And you, kid... the situation you just described is clearly a higher level of Observation Haki.

Top-tier Observation Haki allows one to glimpse fragments of the future, and you seem to be able to perceive the past as well."

Kai's heart trembled slightly, thinking that Observation Haki actually had such an ability.

"In any case, train well!" Garp patted his shoulder, his eyes full of admiration:

"With your talent, you'll eventually reach the realm of predicting the future. Don't waste this gift!"

Kai nodded, his mind still pondering the scene he had just witnessed, and couldn't help but ask again, "Who exactly was that cloaked man?"

Garp's expression was complex. He was silent for a moment, then finally sighed:

"Alright, I'll tell you. What you just saw was Luffy's biological father, Monkey D. Dragon."

"What?!" Kai was somewhat surprised, "Luffy has such a terrifying father?"

Kai was speechless, wondering just how prominent a family his captain belonged to.

His grandfather was a top-tier powerhouse and a high-ranking Marine, and his father was also a powerhouse at the top of the food chain.

"Of course he does." Garp placed his hands on his hips, his expression a little impatient:

"That guy is a scoundrel. He's currently the world's most wanted criminal, the leader of the Revolutionary Army, constantly trying to overthrow the World Government.

To be honest, I don't want to run into him, lest I be tempted to arrest him."

Kai nodded thoughtfully.

Garp looked at the sky, seemingly not wanting to continue the topic.

He patted Kai's shoulder, his tone becoming a little lighter:

"Kid, don't overthink it. You've gained a lot just now. Go back and cultivate diligently. We'll surely meet again on these seas someday."

"Understood, old man." Kai replied, returning to the Going Merry and watching Garp's Doghead Battleship gradually sail away.

On the deck, Kai looked at the Fangtian halberd in his hand, his emotions complex.

The cloaked man's figure still lingered in his mind, along with Garp's words.

He looked down at the books and Den Den Mushi on the deck, a smile playing on his lips.

"Luffy, it seems your family truly has hidden dragons and crouching tigers."

Kai stood on the deck, holding the Fangtian halberd. As he swung it, the sharp clang of the halberd blade echoed like thunder, vibrating throughout the entire Going Merry.

He felt the wonderful combination of the weapon's weight and power, and couldn't help but show a satisfied smile.

"This weapon is really good." Kai murmured, his wrist flicking lightly, and the halberd blade suddenly slashed down, creating a fierce gust of air.

The gust of air swept over the railing at the front of the deck, making it creak.

But before he could fully enjoy it, a strange sound suddenly reached his ears.

Kai turned his head and saw a figure approaching from a distance, accompanied by a huge lion.

The lion's fangs were sharp, its eyes fierce, and its fur was slightly ruffled by the sea breeze, making it look extremely threatening.

And in the person's hand, there was actually a stick of dynamite sparking.

"Haha! I found the Straw Hat Pirates' ship!" The person shouted loudly, a triumphant smile on his face, "Now let's sink it!"

Kai listened to the other party's arrogant words, was stunned for a moment, and almost burst out laughing in anger.

He tightened his grip on the Fangtian halberd, pointed at the person, and said with a hint of mockery in his tone: "I say, how desperate are you to dare to blow up my ship?"

"Eh? There's someone else!" The person raised his chin proudly:

"State your name! I am Mohji, the Beast Tamer of the Buggy Pirates! And this is my partner, Richie the Lion!"

Kai's eyes turned colder. He lightly shook the Fangtian halberd, and the blade emitted a crisp hum.

He casually swung an attack, and the power of the Fangtian halberd erupted. A fierce slash, like a bolt of silk, flew out, striking hard in front of Mohji and his lion.

"Boom—!"

The ground was torn apart by the slash, and the gust of air kicked up a large cloud of dust. The strong impact left a deep chasm in the ground.

The aftershock directly knocked Mohji and Richie the Lion to the ground, both of them pale with fear from the power of that casual strike.

The lion was even more terrified, backing away, its tail tucked between its legs, letting out low whimpers.
