The Central District of the Holy City had entered its final polishing phase.
The morning sun crested the horizon, its light filtering through the spread wings of the Angel God statue, scattering a soft, mottled glow across the plaza and the surrounding streets.
The fountain hadn't been officially activated yet, but the base was already lined with pristine white marble. An intricate network of aqueducts radiated outward from the plaza's edge, connecting to the sprawling, interlocking waterways of the Central District.
Further out, the silhouettes of towering skyscrapers, lush gardens, wide avenues, and suspended sky-bridges were slowly taking their final forms.
This city was absolutely nothing like the hidden villages of old. There were no dark, claustrophobic alleyways, no eternal downpours blocking out the sky, and no broken masses whose backs had been bent by war and poverty.
It was wide, bright, and impeccably clean. Trees lined the massive boulevards, sprawling green spaces separated the architecture, vines crept up the sides of houses, and rooftops had been transformed into miniature gardens. From a distance, the Holy City looked as though it had organically grown out of the forest and the sunlight.
And near the Inner Lake of the Central District, a specific residential zone had been exclusively cordoned off.
It lacked the imposing majesty of the Administrative District and the bustling energy of the Commercial District. This place was perfectly tranquil.
The lake water was crystal clear, its shores paved with pale, smooth stones. Several exquisite manors were scattered gracefully along the waterfront and tucked away in the woods, each boasting its own distinct architectural style.
This was the private residential sector chosen by the women at Alex's side.
Hinata had chosen a quaint white cottage adjacent to a massive garden. Shion loved houses with sweeping courtyards; she insisted she was going to fill them with flowers brought over from the Land of Demons. Ryuzetsu picked a location right next to the training grounds so she could easily go on patrol. Honoka's house was just a short walk from the Central Hospital. Samui selected a high-altitude residence with a commanding, unobstructed view of the city. Mei Terumi instantly claimed a luxurious manor equipped with private hot springs. Ino wanted a place that was close to the streets but shielded from the noise, perfect for opening a flower shop in the future. Mabui, ever practical, chose the house with the most optimized interior layout, ensuring it doubled as an efficient home office.
Everyone had their own preferences. Everyone was using their own unique methods to turn these blueprints into true, living homes.
And the location Kaguya Otsutsuki chose was tucked away at the farthest edge of the lake.
There sat a completely isolated manor. It wasn't the largest by any means, but it was undoubtedly the quietest. It backed up against a dense birch forest, with the pristine Inner Lake stretching out before it. A small wooden dock extended over the water, and at the very end of the pier sat a single reclining chair.
When morning came, the sunrise would gleam across the lake's surface. When night fell, the moonlight would reflect perfectly on the rippling water.
The very first time Kaguya walked past the area, she took one look and stopped in her tracks.
"Here."
That was all she said.
And so, it became her home.
At this moment, Kaguya stood in the center of the manor's grand hall.
She still wore her sweeping, oversized white robes. Her long, silvery-white hair cascaded all the way down to her ankles. The Rinne Sharingan on her forehead was closed, leaving only a faint red slit between her brows.
She stood there, as perfectly still and quiet as a statue of white jade.
Yet, in her hands, she held a thick, heavy interior decoration catalog.
Kameda had explicitly ordered someone to deliver it to her. Its pages were filled with illustrations of various furniture, chandeliers, curtains, rugs, folding screens, flower stands, and bookshelves—along with concepts Alex had casually mentioned, which Kameda had then integrated and brought to life.
