Chapter 8 - New World

"Tch, this energy loss is absurd."

Opening a passage to a new world.

Every day, the Will of Ruler sent ten thousand HW of Honkai energy through, but by the time it reached the new world, less than a hundred HW remained.

Almost all of it was lost during transmission.

The passage was unstable, and she couldn't increase the output strength—otherwise, it would collapse under the strain.

Moreover, if the transmitted Honkai energy wasn't attached to a living creature or an energy-bearing machine, it would naturally dissipate.

Like water evaporating in a hot, arid desert.

This time, the connection was made to an ancient world.

A world beyond the scope of the miHoYo world.

The situation with this connection was far worse than that of the Honkai Impact 3rd world.

In the Honkai 3rd world, sending ten thousand HW of Honkai energy would still retain over seven thousand HW.

But in this new world, ten thousand HW dwindled to almost nothing.

The Will of Ruler possessed the Honkai energy of an entire universe, but with output limits and massive transmission losses, she could only create, at most, one weak, Seraph-class Honkai Beast in the new world per day.

Rather than waste Honkai energy creating Honkai Beasts, using it to infect humans—slowly converting them into zombies—was far more valuable.

The new world was an ancient one. If those infected with Honkai energy were discovered, they would likely be treated as victims of a contagious disease.

And ancient humans, when dealing with such plagues, would either bury or burn the infected en masse.

That could sever her channel.

She could only rely on luck.

Honkai energy could grow within living organisms, though the process was extremely slow.

She'd have to wait and see if any humans would bring their own destruction.

As for killing—

The Will of Ruler felt little about it. Ever since she had become what she was, she had known there was a high chance she was just a character in some higher-dimensional novel.

Since it was all fiction anyway—she could play however she wanted.

Transmigrators—especially those who read novels—should first realize that after crossing over, they had become characters in a higher-dimensional fictional story.

The Will of Ruler hadn't ignored this truth. Mainly because, as the final villain, she knew her role could easily get censored.

She was Honkai.

The enemy of civilization.

Not someone who would grovel.

Unless it was before a beautiful girl—that was another matter.

As everyone knew, Honkai favored women over men—it was utterly obsessed with beauty.

miHoYo's games themselves leaned heavily toward selling two-dimensional beauties.

"So slow!"

The passage was still too unstable. The Will of Ruler didn't dare send her K-423 through, only for her to vanish mid-transit.

Observing the people infected by Honkai energy in the new world, she noticed something.

Unlike those in the Honkai world, humans here had no innate resistance to Honkai energy at all.

She had to go slowly—just a little more energy would turn them to ash.

They couldn't even become zombies.

Through numerous small experiments and careful selection, the Will of Ruler discovered that young women with strong negative emotions and firm wills had far greater adaptability to Honkai energy than ordinary people.

At the same time, she realized that in this world, mysterious forces such as ghosts and spirits also existed.

An ancient world.

In a small village—

Many villagers gathered around a deep pit.

Inside the pit lay a bound black-haired girl, along with her parents.

"Sentarou, do it!"

"Hurry up!"

...

Under the villagers' shouts, the confused Sentarou lifted his shovel and began filling the pit with soil.

Watching the one she trusted and loved most bury her with his own hands, the girl completely despaired. Her crimson eyes shed tears of blood.

I always believed you. You said you'd protect me. I believed you—I believed you so much!

At last, she screamed in despair: "I hate you all! I'll never forgive you, even in death!"

Her overwhelming hatred and the abnormal surge of energy drew the attention of the Will of Ruler.

"Do you seek revenge?"

A voice whispered in the girl's ear.

"Offer me everything you have."

"I want revenge! I want to kill them all!"

"I'll give you everything!"

At that moment, the girl's heart was filled only with hatred—pure hatred for the villagers.

"As you wish."

The Will of Ruler channeled Honkai energy, pouring all of it into the girl's body.

This one definitely had the makings of a Herrscher.

As expected, all the Honkai energy was absorbed.

The girl's body did not disintegrate into ash.

Good.

She endured it.

As long as Honkai energy continued to flow into her, this girl could serve as an anchor—stabilizing the passage between the two universes.

From then on, every bit of Honkai energy sent into the new world by the Will of Ruler was given to her.

The girl's name was Ai Enma.

The Will of Ruler vaguely recognized the name—it seemed to be the protagonist of the anime Hell Girl.

She had heard of the old show, though she had never watched it.

The story was about Ai Enma becoming the Hell Girl, who, through the Hell Correspondence website, accepted people's grudges and dragged their targets into hell.

The details didn't matter to the Will of Ruler—her arrival itself was already a disaster for the entire civilization.

What was one person's hatred compared to that?

After seven days of continuous Honkai energy infusion, Ai Enma became a pseudo-Herrscher.

She crawled out of the soil and walked toward the village.

Villagers, clutching farming tools, looked on in horror as she approached step by step.

"She... she's alive again."

"A monster! She must be a monster!"

"She'll come for revenge, she will!"

...

Hearing their trembling voices, Ai Enma lifted her head, her crimson eyes locking on them. The villagers shuddered under her gaze.

"Don't be afraid! Kill her!"

A few bold villagers raised their hoes and charged at Ai Enma, intending to finish her off here.

As they rushed forward, white shadows emerged from their bodies—then each of them collapsed to the ground, lifeless.

A soul-based ability?

The Will of Ruler pondered thoughtfully.

A Herrscher's power depended on their personal field of reality distortion.

Each individual's distortion field differed—and so did their abilities.

"A monster!"

"Help! Somebody help!"

The remaining villagers panicked and fled, too terrified to approach.

This monster was too terrifying.

Ai Enma ignored them.

She looked at the villagers, expressionless, her lips parting slightly: "Die."

At her words, the villagers' souls were extracted one after another, leaving their bodies to collapse in death.

The freed souls were drawn into Ai Enma's crimson kimono—collected into her own Hell space.

"Those souls do not belong to you."

A strange voice spoke.

Ai Enma turned to see a spider hanging upside down from a tree—its abdomen bore a human face.

"God of Hell, is it?"

The Will of Ruler, residing within Ai Enma, examined the face-spider with mild curiosity.

A native god of this planet.

"Who are you?"

The spider had long sensed the overwhelming power radiating from Ai Enma.

This was no human—no being of their world.

Under such immense power, Ai Enma had already transcended humanity.

Even the forces of Hell could no longer drag her soul down for judgment.

"I am the Will of Ruler."

"...?"

The spider god was confused by the entity before it, who called herself the Will of Ruler.

"Return those souls," it demanded.

"Do you think you're worthy?"

The Will of Ruler didn't even regard it seriously.

A god of Hell?

How laughable.

She was a god of the universe.

Honkai energy gathered in Ai Enma's hand, coalescing into violet flames capable of burning souls.

With a casual flick—

The purple fire flashed and engulfed the face-spider, consuming it completely.

A mere fragment?

After destroying the spider, the Will of Ruler realized it had likely been nothing more than a projection or avatar.

The real body was probably still within Hell.

Not long ago, she had sensed an attempt to pull Ai Enma's soul away—to drag it somewhere.

But as a pseudo-Herrscher, Ai Enma was protected by her own reality distortion field.

The god of Hell could not take her soul.

In the end, it was just a local god of a small world—trying to snatch a soul from the hands of a cosmic god.

Dream on.

By rough estimation, the gods of this world could at best bully powerless humans.

She glanced toward a young man fleeing in the distance and was about to finish him off—

When a resistance welled up within Ai Enma's soul.

Fine then.

The Will of Ruler roughly understood her thoughts.

Letting that ordinary man, Sentarou, live wouldn't matter.

She injected traces of Honkai energy into the corpses scattered on the ground, waiting for them to turn into zombies.

Many failed and crumbled into ash.

Out of hundreds of bodies, only twenty-three succeeded.

Meanwhile, the collected souls within Ai Enma's Hell began transforming—reshaped into undead-like creatures.

A Herrscher power to collect souls and create undead summons.

After some time, the Will of Ruler fully grasped Ai Enma's Herrscher abilities.

After her revenge was complete, Ai Enma fell into a doll-like standby state, acting only upon command.

Taking control of the body, the Will of Ruler began expanding outward from the small village—

Attacking every settlement nearby, from bandit camps to ordinary villages.

She sent her zombies and undead minions to conquer and dominate them all.
