Chapter 4 - Cherished Memories

Maya heard Zoey's phone ring. She couldn't help but wonder who it was. Zoey had just gotten out of bed, grabbed the phone, and this was weird. They're married — there was no need to hide stuff anymore. But many thoughts swirled in her head as she stared at the roof, still wrapped in blankets. She didn't want to pry too much, though. She wanted to savour this chance to be with her lover again, make up for what happened, and let go of the bad energy.

Hours later, Zoey was still on the call. Maya started thinking of telling her about yesterday… but when she reached the bedroom, Maya was fast asleep. This hinted that Maya wasn't a morning person — despite being a businesswoman and a princess. To Zoey, it was endearing: someone as perfect as Maya had flaws too. She smiled, looking at her. Slowly, she snuggled into bed, wanting to get closer, to admire the face and the person she loved and missed''.

Maya's phone rings. 'It's Charlotte video calling her,' Zoey muttered, but with Maya sleeping, she just took a deep breath and answered.

Charlotte was puzzled, and giggled awkwardly, like she didn't believe what was happening. Skipping greetings, she blurted, "Wait!! What the… why are you picking up my older sister's phone? Wait, are you with her right now? Wow… So let me guess: you two did 'the thing' as a peace offering, huh…

Zoey blushed, a little embarrassed. She knew exactly what Charlotte was talking about. "No, what are you crazy… no, that's NOT what happened. And your sister is sleeping here.

Kimberly, in the background, said, 'I told you. I mean, now you owe me a meal.'

Charlotte looked at her, threw a pillow at Kim, and dropped the call. "What the, are you crazy!? Why did you do that? I told you not to say anything — you'll blow our cover! But you did… my god, what's your problem? I thought we talked about this," she shouted.

Kim got a little sad. "Well, you don't have to shout at me. You know I mean. I am sorry…"

Charlotte looked at her, felt guilty instantly. She moved closer, opening her arms for a hug. But Kim didn't come closer.

Charlotte looked at her, felt guilty instantly after hearing Kim say that. As she moved in closer, she opened her arms for a hug — but Kim didn't come closer. Charlotte was very surprised by the reaction. She then said, 'What is the matter? Why are you not hugging me? I mean, I just overreacted. I mean, now I am fine. And I am sorry for what happened, okay?'

Kimberly looked at her and said, with a low, disappointed voice, 'Well, if you don't want to be with me, you could just say so, and I will understand. Why? I mean, I do want you to be still happy about us. But when you're hiding this… it means you're not serious about going forward…'

As Charlotte was speechless after hearing that, looking down, not able to respond to those words… Kimberly just moved away, taking her phone. 'And you not answering is really annoying, and I can't stand it.'

Charlotte, after hearing those words, said to her, 'So you're forcing me to introduce you to my family. You do know how my family is… I mean… you do, but you still… what? I mean, you know my title, right? And are ready to be committed.'

Kimberly looked at her, surprised. 'Well, yes, I am ready for that, obviously… I mean, if that is the reason, it's nothing to worry about. I mean, it's not a big deal, right?'

Kimberly looked uncertain and overwhelmed by what Charlotte said. She didn't really know what she wanted herself. Charlotte was frustrated — she could see Kimberly forcing herself to fit what was expected, and was very undecided about serious issues.

Charlotte. After a sigh, said to Kimberly, 'Well, I don't believe you are ready about this. I mean, this is important to me. And if you are going to make me happy by choosing this… like I am forcing you into this, while I am not. Is that fair to us?'

Kimberly looked at Charlotte, confused and sad. She didn't expect her to say that. With a fading voice, she said, 'So you think I am not thinking about this… so you mean we shouldn't have been together in the first place… wow.' After she said that, she just took her phone and went to the door. But Charlotte, seeing that, stopped her and said, 'No, wait. Where are you going? We are still talking. I mean, you can't just turn your back on me and be silent.' As she grabbed her hand to stop her, Kimberly — with tears slowly dripping on the floor, sad about the whole thing — broke her hand free from Charlotte's grasp. She faced her with a teary face and said, 'You always underestimate me. and you are right about me being undecided… but do you really think I am that immature that I can't decide my happiness and love? Huh. I mean, if you don't like that, then why are we together.' She whipped away her tears

Charlotte looked at her, her mind went blank. She couldn't unhear those words from the person she loves the most. But, regardless, her nature to hold back feelings got the better of her. In a low voice, she said, 'If you say that, then I will not stop you from leaving.'

Kimberly let out a sigh of frustration. She turned around, left the room in silence. As she got out of the door, she slammed it with anger, took off to her car.

As Charlotte waited for Kimberly to leave, so she could let out her feelings, she didn't expect things would be this bad. She slowly sat on the floor, a loud cry escaped, and tears streamed down her face. She couldn't help but replay those words in her mind — that really broke her heart into pieces.

As for Kim, she didn't want to say those words. She was more hurt and regretful for what she said to the person she loves. She thought to herself: Why were they in this situation, and can they come above it?

"Looking at this moment, it shows everything isn't perfect as it's made to be. But do we get to separate reality and fantasy? We don't know if it's that — till it happens, when it happens. Does it manifest the feelings of hate, or the feelings of love? It might not make logical sense…

But what would you do if you're in a situation where you can't tell if what you're experiencing is true or not? People think you know if it's not true because you won't feel it. But what if your heart and mind take a long time to accept the truth in front of you… but you, yourself, will deny reality, fate from happening?

With those words, you have to know — just by following your heart, mind, and soul — what you truly deserve. At the end of the day, everyone wants happiness and love, the feeling of being cared for, to be someone's safe zone, to be one's dear and lover to cling to in the dark days and good days. Because life is about balance. It can't be all good — that's the reality we have to accept."

A few hours went by. Maya was still in bed, wearing a shirt only, as she worked on her tablet. She was serious, but she didn't want to pay attention to Zoey. She was working from home to make up for lost time — it was kind of hard to do, since she didn't know how to act, now that she was here alone. She was just nervous and shy about the whole thing. She had changed over the years — she wasn't the bold, brave, and flirt like before.

Zoey looked at Maya and said in a low voice, 'Wow, is that the same person who was begging me to forgive her, huh? I don't understand this. Is she ignoring me… or did she change her mind about the whole thing? Well, this is actually weird. Hmm, I think I should check that — because that can't happen now. No, no.'

Zoey slowly walked closer, sat on the bed, looking at Maya. She took off Maya's glasses — Maya wore them, and she already had makeup on — as Zoey dropped, died hot and sexy. She touched Maya's hand, made her look at her. In a seductive voice, she said, 'Aww, honey, are you just going to ignore me? Hmm? I mean, you're just going to work all day? I mean, we still have some catching up to do. I mean, you said you'd do anything to make me happy and make it up to me, right?'

In Zoey's mind: 'Well, that was worth it, I guess. Will she respond by doing the same… but I shouldn't try that, hmm… but she won't be like before, right.' She remembered herself being vulnerable and shy towards Maya's charms and flirting.

Maya, after seeing that, blushes. She got shyer than she was, freezing up. It's been a while since she saw Zoey's face — but that wasn't the only reason she was like that. The main reason was that she wasn't the same Maya. Zoey had changed, for the worst, with those looks. She wasn't cute and little; she was beautiful and matured now. Maya was still frozen by Zoey's new look and personality.

Zoey was bewildered by what just happened. 'What the hell, wait… Maya, are you okay? I mean, I didn't think this would work… what… okay, I am lost.' Zoey placed her hand on Maya's forehead, thinking maybe she had a fever or something, because this was weird. Maya snapped back, blushed more, and looked away.

Zoey didn't understand what's happening. She was still shocked by Maya acting this… but just smiled, taking advantage of that. She took the tablet away, pinned Maya on the bed, got on top of her. She saw that Maya was just wearing the oversized shirt — only. She looked down at her and said, 'Well, this is my lucky day, hmm. I was thinking of ways you could make me forgive you… but now I finally have one. Wow, that was easy… who would've thought that you changed like this.' She pinned Maya's hands above her head, her other hand on her thigh, slowly rising up. Maya let out a little moan, looked away, embarrassed, and quickly stopped Zoey's hand, holding it between her thighs. 'Wait, hmm, that's too early. Can we not do that now? I mean, we just got back together… uhm, how about we do something else.'

Maya quickly got away from Zoey's hold and rushed to the bathroom, leaving Zoey queer and confused. In the bathroom, Maya had her hand on her chest. The experience left her shocked — her heart was beating fast, she was blushing too, with a smile. She said to herself, 'Wow, she really changed for the worst, huh… after these seven years. I never thought this would happen.'

Zoey looked at her as she left, speechless. But she just giggled, seeing she'd got the confidence she was missing. She wasn't sure this would happen, or if it was true. She then said, taking off the glasses, moved off the bed, and continued preparing her suitcases — she was moving back to the house, as she was only there for business.

Soon after, Maya was out of the bathroom. She looked at the suitcases, then looked at Zoey, confused. In a sad voice, as she sighed, 'Are you going somewhere? I mean, are you really going to leave? I mean, I just got here… can we spend time…'

Zoey came closer. Maya moved back, reaching the wall, her back against it. She looked at Zoey with an innocent, shy look, looked down, and said, 'Uhm, what are you doing?'

Zoey carried on. She leaned in closer, placed her hand on the wall, slowly lifted Maya's chin, making her look at her. 'Maya,' she said, while holding her chin. 'Who said I am going to leave you here? I mean, remember — you have to make up for what you promised me, and I haven't forgotten. You remember… but I won't let you leave my side again. And that is not a request. It's an order.'

Maya blushed, looked up at Zoey. Her height really made her seem like the younger one. She got a little annoyed and said, looking at her, 'Well, can you stop this teasing; I mean, I am older tha…'

Zoey cut her words with a passionate, unexpected kiss that would leave Maya speechless — she didn't expect that.

Zoey pulled away, looked at Maya, and said, 'Well, who said I was teasing you? Now come on, we must get going. I mean, we'll be late. I really hate the traffic on Saturday.'

Maya didn't say much — there wasn't much to say. She didn't argue. She liked the kiss, and it calmed her down. She was smiling a lot, hadn't expected that, but liked it anyway. She just took her bag and stuff — she was a little underdressed.

Zoey looked at her from top to bottom, smiled a little, having some dirty thoughts about what she was wearing. But a thought flashed that everyone would see, and she got jealous. She said to Maya, 'Uhm, I think you should change. That dress… you know I don't like it.'

Maya looked at her, a bit confused about what she was talking about. She tilted her head. 'What…? Why? I mean, I just changed into this earlier. I mean, why don't you like it? I mean, you said yourself we must hurry, and all that.' Maya shook her head and folded her arms.

Zoey looked at her, pointing at the dress, it being too revealing and a see-through dress. She then said, 'Well, I won't tell you why. I mean, you can see it for yourself. I mean, you will have to change it, okay. I hate people looking at you all the time when you're with me — and without me. I mean, you sometimes just dress without thinking, you know.

Maya looked at her, a little annoyed, and said, 'Huh, what do you mean by that? I mean, you're the one who's an attention magnet. Do you still remember that white fishnet dress you wore last summer for the awards? I mean, let's just say you ended up catching a lot of fish with that. Hmm… what do you have to say for yourself?'

Zoey just ignored her, took her suitcase, and said, 'Well, are you going to change, or should I leave without you? I mean, just so you know — I didn't have a choice, but you do now.'

Maya just went to the bathroom, picked out a long black skirt to match with her black top — she had clothes in the car for emergencies. After dressing up, she came out of the bathroom, avoided Zoey, went straight to the front door, opened it, and left Zoey there without saying one word. She headed to the parking lot, stood there looking at her car. She thought, It's a car. She would be comfortable in her car — or Zoey's car.

As she thought to herself, she made a decision: she would let her car rest. She didn't want to drive, and she had never ridden in Zoey's car — the one she had bought for Zoey. So this was an opportunity.

With that, she called one of the palace guards to fetch it for her and drive it back to the palace. In no time, they arrived. That was confusing. She asked them, 'Why so fast this time… or were you around the area?' They answered, bowing and showing respect. Maya didn't ask more. She already knew what was going on.

She just instructed them to take the car to the palace. With that, they took the keys and took off with the car. She stood there, waiting for Zoey.

Some moments after that, Zoey appeared with her suitcase. She looked at Maya, who was standing near her car. At first, she was confused — why was she standing there — and looked around for Maya's car, but she didn't see it. As she approached her, unlocking the car and putting the suitcases in the trunk, she said, 'Well, where is your car… wait… are you going to ride in my car?'

Maya looked at her, tilted her head with her arms folded, and said, 'Well, yes…! I mean, you are smart to find that out. Aww, I would have to give you a treat for being a good girl, huh… OH, and you are going to drive, right?' Oh, that's a yes. She opened the passenger door, got in, sat down, and closed the door. She looked at Zoey while adjusting the mirror — she knew Zoey was watching — and pointedly checked the time on her phone, mocking her.

Zoey shut the trunk door with annoyance. She was a little annoyed because she couldn't stand Maya acting like that, but she had no choice. She still had to drive, as she was running late. She then got to the door, took a deep breath, calmed down, got inside the car, closed the door, started the car, and drove off. She didn't talk after getting in.

But Maya wanted to momentarily break the silence. 'Well, I didn't expect you of all people to change, you know. I mean, I really was impressed back then, you know… but I guess that won't happen again.'

Zoey looked at her, giggled a little, and said, 'Phi May, I am not the same person, and you saw that. I mean, it's not about what happened — what I know is that you changed too. So, you have to just prepare yourself, okay.'

Maya looked at her, confused. 'What do you mean by that? I mean, I thought we were okay now, and we are going to fix it.'

Zoey, being a little vague, said, 'Well, yes, we are.'

Maya looked at her. 'Can you stop with the sarcasm, being vague. It's really annoying me — can you just answer me clearly, okay?'

Zoey rolled her eyes. 'Well, I am still driving. Can it wait? I mean, I can't focus on two things. I mean, I will answer you once we get home, okay.'

Maya sighed, looked out the window, and said, 'Well, whatever.' Maya thought to herself, what could it be? As many things circled her mind that time, she was sort of distracted, not enjoying the ride and the scenic route they were in. The view of the Tokyo buildings was very nice — it was truly a sight itself. That made her leave her thoughts and just enjoy the view.

Zoey drove through the streets of Tokyo with Maya looking around. She saw herself on the billboards and heard her music being sung by people on the street. She smiled as she drove to her pet house in the city. She stopped near the entrance of the building. Getting ready to get out, she said to Maya, 'Well, we are here. We have arrived.'

Maya looked at her, got a little lost, and said, 'Wait, why is your place in the city? I mean, aren't you a celebrity? I mean, why didn't you get somewhere private to stay? I mean, didn't you say we are going to your house?'

Zoey looked at her, complexed, and said, 'Not what. Well, firstly, I am not scared of people. I mean, that's what a princess is about. Secondly, why would I hide from people? I mean, I am not that kind of person. Thirdly, I love my fans — unlike someone who still has them but ignored them.' She got out of the car, closed the door, and fetched her suitcase from the trunk.

Maya shook her head, smiled, and followed her, getting out of the car. 'Hmmm, Zoey, I am kind of hungry. Can we grab something to eat? I mean, we didn't eat this morning since you said we had to leave early.'

Zoey looked at her as they walked through the entrance. 'Hmm, well, I don't know what you want to eat today, hmm Phi May.'

Maya, thinking of what to eat, looked at Zoey, smiled, and said, 'Well, I am not picky. I can eat anything, okay.'

Zoey looked at her with a weird look. 'Wow, fine. How about stir-fried rice and cheese?'

Maya replied, 'Well, no. Too blend.'

Zoey looked at her, confused, but she understood why she didn't want it. Then she said, 'How about ribs?'

Maya looked at her — you could see with the reaction on her face that she didn't want them, but she needed to add a remark. 'No, it will make me fat, and I don't like their smell.'

Zoey was lost. She thought to herself, slowly getting annoyed and frustrated. She asked again, 'How about seafood like crabs?'

Maya looked at Zoey with a look of dissatisfaction and said, 'No. What, will you peel them for me? I mean, they are a job to eat.' As she approached the elevator and got on — it was open — looking at Zoey, waiting for her to get on.

Zoey looked at her, annoyed. Before getting in, she murmured and said, 'Wow, not picky.' She sighed. 'My god, I can't believe I fell for that.'

The elevator started going up to the 14th floor. Zoey didn't talk. She was thinking about what to do with Maya's pickiness, as that frustrated her. So, she came up with a good idea that Maya can't resist. She smiled out of nowhere.

They arrived at Zoey's place. She saw that her suitcases were already there — the elevator took you to the penthouse directly. They both got out. Zoey got to the suitcase. 'Phi May, make yourself at home, okay. I still have to unpack this, okay. I won't be long.' She said that while entering her bedroom.

Maya looked around, impressed with the design and the layout of the rooms. She sat down on the couch. She didn't do much there, as she didn't want to be too comfortable. She noticed that Zoey had changed — she didn't want to find out how much she changed. So she just sat there, not doing anything.

Zoey, after unpacking her things, just stayed in her bedroom for a while. She looked in the mirror. She didn't know what to do with the situation. She just put herself together, as she didn't know how to tell Maya about her sickness and what was the real reason she left her — as that would bring up old, bad memories. With her being honest, she didn't want to live with a lie.

After some time standing in front of the mirror, she took her pills out, took them one by one, and drank them all. She returned them to their bag and hid them under the bed. She knew the place was temporary, but she had to attend Maya.

Zoey walked in where Maya was sitting. She looked at her, had a stoic expression, and was a little annoyed because of what happened earlier when she asked what Maya would like to eat. 'Uhm, Phi May, have you chosen what you like yet?'

Maya looked at her, confused. 'I mean, I don't know. I'll eat what you want to eat.'

Zoey looked at her, not trusting that. 'No, no. Enough with that…' Zoey thought about what to do with this. She had an idea, and then she said, 'Well, how about this: I'll cook, and you help, okay?'

Maya looked at her, surprised. She didn't expect it. 'What? Wait, you know how to cook… and didn't you say you still haven't forgiven me… then why are you cooking for me, huh? I don't understand this. Aww, do not tell me you are still that soft for me. Yes, I knew it.'

Zoey looked at her. Annoyed and upset after hearing that, she said, going to the kitchen, 'Well, no. In your dreams. And if you say something like that, you'll eat cat food — or not eat at all.' As she murmured, copying her, 'I am picky, I can eat anything… argh.' She shook her head, took the apron, and wore it, starting to move around. She looked at Maya, who was just sitting, sighed, and with a loud voice said, 'Phi May, are you going to help or what?'

Maya looked at her, jumped up, and rushed to the kitchen where Zoey was. 'Uhm, you really didn't need to scream, you know.' Maya looked at her, not knowing what to help her with — she didn't know much of her way around the kitchen.

Zoey looked at her, got a little speechless, and said, 'Wow, Phi May, are you kidding me? Well, don't you know how to cook; I mean, you've travelled a lot and lived alone for a long time. You should know a few things about cooking.'

Maya hugged Zoey from the back. She still found that doable, as she didn't account for what would happen if she did that. Zoey responded cold, put on a stoic expression, looked at Maya, and said, 'Can you let me go. I can't focus. Ooh, and you can go sit down. It's getting crowded here.'

Maya, with a look of disbelief — she did believe what Zoey just said to her — looked down, disappointed. She let her go and walked back to the couch. She looked at Zoey. She saw that she really had changed a lot. She didn't believe it before, but now, with that happening, she had no doubt of what she thought was very true. And she couldn't believe it. The sweet, gentle Zoey was gone, and it had caused that — as she hurt her time and time again.

Maya didn't know what to do. She found it a moment to call her Charlotte, to talk about this. She wanted to ask if she knew about this. She dialled her number on her phone and called her, but after some time calling, she couldn't reach her.

Zoey, still in the kitchen after some time, avoided thinking about what she said to Maya. She couldn't fully blame her for what happened to them. She didn't want to start their new life with lies and things hidden. So, before that, she just wanted to see if she really could change — as she had faith that she would, or that she had changed now."

Zoey was overthinking, her mind spacing out, still thinking about this whole thing. She didn't pay much attention to the pots on the stove. The pot overflowed with water — the pot was hot, and she couldn't grab it.

With that, Maya came rushing to aid her. She took the pot out of the stove, turned it off, placed it aside, and opened the lid. Then she focused all her attention on Zoey, asked her while holding her close, checking if she was hurt or not.

Zoey, with that act, was starting to miss their old times. She blushed, looked away. She didn't expect that to happen, and she didn't expect Maya would do that. She didn't know what to say yet, but with that, she had to come to reality.

Maya held Zoey so dearly. She didn't want to let her go yet. She found the moment so special, as she thought it might rekindle something in their already dead flame. Zoey just avoided her true feelings. She pushed Maya, said, 'Let me go,' as she pushed her away. Her face changed so fast — from blushing to stoic.

After that, she went to the pots, tried to salvage the food, and dished it out on the plates. She was quiet. Maya just walked away. Zoey looked at her and said, 'Well, the food is ready. Would you like juice, water, or wine? I'll just have the wine. I had a long day.' She said that, preparing the glasses, taking out the wine bottle, pouring it into her glass.

Maya looked back, stopped, went back to sit down with Zoey in the kitchen. She saw that the food was okay — she was worried about it. The wine is fine, thanks she said, answering Zoey.

Zoey just poured the wine for her, gave it, and before sitting down, took off her apron. She started drinking the wine, didn't take sips. Maya saw that, said, 'Wait, relax. I mean, this is a race, you know. You can calm down.'

After Maya said that, Zoey didn't stop. Maya took her glass away from her and poured all the remaining wine down the drain. A little ticked off, she said, 'No… I am not going to let you do that in front of me, no matter how stressed you are.'

Zoey got mad that she took her wine away. She looked at her, heard what she said, and replied to Maya, 'Well, it's really cute. You know how stressful this is, and you think I'll just let you back into my life just like that. I mean, now I just realized that you are the same — you can't change, huh… I mean, even if you do change, I don't really care because I am too hurt by your nonsense. Now, I know that revenge doesn't do anything, but if it makes you bleed even a little…'

Maya was really shocked by Zoey's words. She looked at her and said, 'I mean, if you hate me this much, then why am I here with you?'

Zoey felt a little numb and dizzy. She held the countertop, then said in a low, calm, fading voice, 'How can I hate someone I chose… and the one I love.' As she slowly walked to her room, leaning on the wall.

Maya heard those words. She was a little confused and touched by them. She saw that Zoey wasn't in good shape — as she had seen that back at the hotel. With that, she caught her, then lifted her up, carrying her to her bed. She laid her there gently, slowly placed the blanket on her, making sure she was warm and comfortable.

Zoey looked at her, impressed and appreciative, seeing that. But she didn't say anything. She just passed out.

Maya looked at her, thinking of what to do for her. She didn't want to stress her much. She wanted to make up for lost time and fix what was broken.

With that, Maya started to clean the kitchen and washed the dishes. Then she checked for what she could do next and what to deal with. She saw that the other rooms were okay. As she got to the bedroom, she saw paperwork on the floor and the desk was full of papers that weren't sorted out, so she spent time with that, sorting things out. That took hours to do. But after that, she just fell asleep on the desk — she didn't want to go into the bed, didn't want to wake up Zoey and make things weird.

Zoey woke up. She saw that Maya wasn't on the bed. She thought about what she said to Maya. She thought Maya wasn't sleeping yet. She got out of the blanket, got closer. She saw that Maya was asleep. She couldn't carry her back to the bed, so she just took one of the blankets and put it on her. She kissed her on the forehead to make her feel comfortable. After that, she returned to the bed and went back to sleep.

"What I know is that everything happens for a reason, right? But some people spend a lifetime looking, seeking for that reason. Some people believe that true colours are what people show you once you know them and have a full idea of how and why they act like they do. But it can't be that easy to have answers. I mean, they can show you what you'll believe are their true colours, but they are just shades — or just the first coat.

So, this ends with saying: believing that actions speak louder than words are the most beautiful thing one could believe in. What I am saying is that if you can't be the missing puzzle piece in someone's life, just stop forcing yourself to fit in, because that usually ruins the puzzle itself."

"But at the end, no one is the masterpiece or the perfect piece."

As the night faded and it was morning, the birds were chirping. Zoey woke up. She didn't make a sound as she saw and heard Maya crying. She didn't know why she was. Zoey slowly got up from the bed, got closer to her, hugged her from the back, and said to her — Maya felt the comfort from Zoey's hug — 'You know I am still with you, no matter what, okay. I mean, you don't have to go through things alone. And I won't ask why you are crying, but I will just comfort you like this. Then, when you are ready, you will tell me, okay.'

Maya, hearing those words from Zoey, felt not alone. She felt her warmth when Zoey hugged her. She tried to act stronger, quickly wiping her tears because she didn't want Zoey to see her cry. Zoey looked at her, helped her wipe her tears, and said, giggling, 'Aww, well, it's too late now. I saw them. But it's okay. I mean, you are not the only one who can comfort you, you know.' She then pulled Maya closer, hugging her even tighter.

Maya looked up, hugged so tightly. With that, she found it more comfortable — her face was on Zoey's big chest — as she still found them lovely. She didn't hide it, but she couldn't help thinking how Zoey must feel about that. She didn't know if she still liked her as before, as she would let her rest on them. She slowly looked up to check Zoey's reaction. Zoey just continued to hug her for a time, saying, 'Well, you were crying, so I am comforting you because of that, ok. And now I have to go make food for us, ok.' After she said that, she started to let her go, to head to the kitchen.

Maya looked at her as she saw her letting go. Maya looked down, just said, "okay," in a down voice. Zoey looked at her. 'Uhm, I won't be long, you know. And you can start with the shower. I'll shower after you, okay,' she said, grabbing her phone, smiled a little, then walked out of the room to the kitchen to start breakfast and coffee.

After Zoey left, Maya started to smile too. She saw that there was light at the end of the tunnel. She went straight to the shower, spent some time there, thinking of what happened this morning — was it a blessing or just the love between them? She looked up at the roof, thinking about that. But she couldn't stay in the shower longer. She got out, wore a towel to cover herself, and got out of the bathroom. She saw that there were already clothes on the bed, clothes to change into. She approached them, sat down on the bed, started to prepare herself for breakfast.

Meanwhile, in the kitchen, Zoey was going all out with a smile on her face. She had an interesting start to the morning — she didn't have that at all before. But the newly found joy was cut short as she received a message from her phone. She stopped, looked at it. She thought it was just an ordinary message or about work, but it wasn't. She looked at who it was from. After seeing where it was from, she got a lot annoyed. She thought of not reading it — a message from Karen. She knew that Karen likes causing trouble. But she had second thoughts about not reading it this time, because the message said something about Maya.

Maya, after dressing up, thought of joining Zoey in the kitchen. She saw her looking at her phone. She went to her, tapped her on the shoulder, and asked — she was curious about what was happening, wanted to know — as she saw the way Zoey looked at her phone, it was tense.

Zoey then turned to look at Maya with a stoic face. She just asked one question, as she said to Maya, 'Hey… you don't have to lie, ok. And can you give me the answer to this one question, okay.'

Maya looked at her, confused, thinking about what she was talking about. She replied, 'Uhm, yes, I can answer it. What is it?'

Zoey looked at her, hiding her true feelings, wanting to hear the answer first. With that, she asked her the question and said, 'Well, have you ever slept with Karen, and that caused her to break up with your sister?'

Maya was shocked. She didn't know what to say. She lost words. She looked at her and apologized, as she didn't know what to say to that.

Zoey, after hearing that, couldn't hide her feelings anymore. With tears in her face, she said, 'Wow… so you are not denying it. So, you did it, huh…'

Some moments passed. Out of nowhere, she slapped Maya so hard the sound echoed across the room, leaving a bruise on her cheek. As she slapped, Zoey said, 'So you did this… on our wedding night.'

"The silence swallowed the whole room. Everything fell apart once again. One asked: Will it be fixed, can it be fixed."
