Chapter 24 - You Are Dishonest

Sophie Toilet Paper: It's rare to see fanfiction for Lord of the Mysteries. Here's a small suggestion: the times develop, things change. Don't cling to the original 22 Pathways. As the protagonist, you should have the protagonist's style, creating a Pathway that belongs to the protagonist and suits his identity. Only then can you live up to the protagonist's status. You must believe the protagonist has that talent.

For example, if it were me, the Pathway I'd create would be the 'Poverty God Sequence.'

This is serious nonsense. Lex felt the muscles in his cheeks twitching slightly.

Melancholy Oil Pie: If you choose the Hunter Pathway, at Sequence 7, you should start picking companions, otherwise...

Hunter Pathway, Sequence 7, you have to pick companions? Why?

This Reader should have explained the reason later, but unfortunately, the information was blocked.

After reading the Reader's message, Lex picked up the quill from the mystical book and crossed out the previous writing on the message board.

The message board quickly cleared. After a moment's thought, Lex began to write a passage of text.

"Knowledgeable Observers, I hope to obtain information about the Abraham Family's history and details about the Tudor Empire. I trust you can provide accurate and positive replies. I sincerely thank every Reader who offers help. Thank you."

After writing this text, Lex felt his spirituality rapidly diminish, causing a slight headache. He quickly dispelled the summoning, and the time on his pocket watch began to turn again, dust continued to drift in the sunlight, and everything returned to its normal course.

Lex rubbed his temples. He now understood why he felt mentally exhausted every time he summoned the mystical book.

Whether reading information from the book or writing messages on the message board, it consumed his spirituality.

Combined with the 'Knowledge Authority' on the cover, it's possible that as his authority increases in the future, reading more The Seer information will consume even more spirituality.

"Indeed, there's no free lunch in this world," he shook his head, then muttered to himself, "It's a pity Mother seems unwilling to mention that Family, or even the history of the Tudor Empire, for some reason."

"Otherwise, I wouldn't have wasted a message board usage."

He opened the wardrobe, changed into formal attire, and walked out of the bedroom.

Today's mysticism class ended at ten in the morning. Amelia opened the wooden door with symbols carved on it and said with a smile, "You have basically mastered Hermes. There are some books in this room. If you have free time, you can take them to read. They will be helpful for your studies in mysticism."

"You can rest these two days. Next monday, I will start teaching you ritual magic and how to make amulets."

"Alright, you are free to do as you please. I need to go find your father. We won't be back for lunch."

It sounded like they had a date. Lex said with a grin, "Have fun, Mother."

Once his mother left, Harribel also hurried away, as if rushing to do something.

Did she also have a date? Speaking of which, she was already sixteen. It was normal for her to have a companion at this age. Lex let his thoughts wander and picked up a copy of "Myth of Creation" from his mother's small house, preparing to read it back in his room.

In the corridor, he suddenly heard hurried footsteps and smelled a faint, delicate fragrance of a young girl. Then a slightly anxious voice called out to him.

"Mr. Lex, please wait a moment."

Lex turned his head. It was his sister's personal maid, Ailiya, who, though not old, had a very ample chest.

----

Before noon, Kingston Road was already very noisy. Street vendors selling fried fish, oyster soup, and desi pie were everywhere, their cries echoing through the streets and alleys, attracting the attention of pedestrians.

A newsboy wearing a duckbill cap pulled low walked quickly along the gravel-paved road, occasionally dodging dirty water poured directly from doors, passing by old-clothed, patched-up vagrants, and turned into a dark, damp alley.

"No. 78... No. 78, over here."

The newsboy found a small building and slipped inside. The air in the stairwell was a mix of various smells—urine, sweat, mold, and burning wood—all mingled together, making the newsboy instinctively cover his nose.

She found a closed door, looked around, and then pressed her hand against the wall next to the door.

The wall suddenly glowed with a faint blue Sea of Light, forming a vague, insubstantial door. The newsboy leaned forward slightly, as if about to pass through this door.

Suddenly.

Someone in the shadows of the hallway said, "Is that an Apprentice's Beyonder power?"

The newsboy shuddered, "Who!"

Then a figure quickly materialized and stepped into the sunlight streaming into the hallway from the window.

His short, dark hair was gently ruffled by the breeze blowing through the window, and a faint smile flickered in his ink-blue eyes. On his deeply contoured, well-defined face, a faint scar below his left eye resembled a tear stain.

The young man, dressed in formal attire, carrying a cane, and wearing a top hat, was completely out of place in the gloomy environment.

The newsboy relaxed, "Lex? Why are you here?"

"Of course, I came to find you. Ailiya is very worried about you, my dear sister." Lex twirled his cane as he walked forward, looking at the illusory, blurry door. "However, let's go inside and talk, unless you want to be seen."

"Ladies first." Lex stopped in front of the door and raised his arm, smiling as he gestured.

Harribel, disguised as a newsboy, ducked her head and went through the door. Lex followed her, feeling as if he had passed through a curtain of water, and was already standing in a small room.

The blurry door vanished. Harribel took off her duckbill cap, letting her brilliant golden hair cascade down like a waterfall. She put her hands on her hips and looked at her brother, "Did Ailiya tell you I was here?"

Lex observed his surroundings and said, "Isn't it obvious? So Ailiya's mother went missing. No wonder she seemed to have cried the other day."

"But I really didn't expect you to come and help her investigate. It seems you care about her quite a bit."

Harribel snorted, "I'm just interested in this matter, and I heard that several people have recently gone missing on Kingston Road."

"Among them are workers, vagrants, and single residents like Ailiya's mother."

Not honest at all, my sister. Lex suddenly twitched his nose, catching a faint scent of flowers and herbs.

If it weren't for his 'Hunter's' sensitive sense of smell, others would probably find it very difficult to detect.

"A relaxing scent, a little sweet. Hmm, this seems to be the scent of moonflower."
