Chapter 223 - Picking up leaks

Lex quickly came up with a countermeasure.

He planned to transform into Ryan, the security chief of the Ambassador, and use the excuse of protecting the Ambassador's privacy to dismiss the guards.

This would give him a chance to be alone with Bakerland and a brief, undisturbed period of time.

However, before Lex could transform into Ryan, he saw some guards coming down from the second floor and quietly leaving.

Lex was stunned for a moment, then realized that the Ambassador probably didn't want to be disturbed.

But wouldn't it be too reckless to directly send the guards away? What if that girl was an assassin? Was Bakerland confident he could take her down?

Harboring doubts, Lex became even more cautious.

He went up to the second floor when no one was paying attention.

The second-floor corridor was empty, with no one around.

Just as Lex was thinking about how to quickly find the Ambassador's room, he heard Bakerland's voice from a room ahead.

"Someone!"

"Help!"

Lex heard panic in Bakerland's voice, and a special meaning.

He really encountered an assassin?

That girl in the red dress?

Lex didn't rush forward.

There might be two Beyonder confronting each other in that room, and their Sequence was not low.

If he went in like this, he would probably gain nothing and even lose his life.

Endure, continue to endure!

Lex stayed at the stairwell, planning to go downstairs if anything went wrong.

A moment later, coughing sounds came from the room again.

Violent coughing sounds.

Lex recognized it as Bakerland's voice; the Intis Ambassador seemed to have suddenly contracted severe pneumonia.

Immediately after.

A scream echoed from the room.

"No!"

"Why?"

Lex's heart pounded violently.

Bakerland was severely injured?

Why?

Why what?

Was Bakerland unable to understand the assassin's motive for killing him, or was it something else?

At this moment, a rumbling sound came from the room, as if a bomb had exploded, causing the room to collapse and the glass to clatter.

Through the crumbling wall, Lex saw Bakerland lying on the ground, his body split in half!

In the room, a shadowy figure passed through the wall and disappeared.

Bakerland is dead?

This greatly surprised Lex.

Someone had acted before him; who could it be?

The next moment, Lex snapped his fingers, then activated the power of the evil bandage, while also channeling his spirituality into a Charm.

Bakerland's corpse was right before him.

This was a rare opportunity, an opportunity to acquire the Ambassador's beyonder characteristics!

Lex acted decisively and activated his previous arrangements.

Meanwhile, in the ballroom on the first floor, people first heard the explosion upstairs.

Immediately after, a loud bang came from the direction of the kitchen, and a chef screamed as he ran out: "Fire, fire!"

In the hall, a first-class military officer from Intis, a Sequence 5 powerhouse, seemed to sense something.

He rushed out of the hall and shouted: "Send two people upstairs to check, everyone else follow me!"

Immediately, the Sequence 6, three Sequence 7s, and other lower-Sequence military officers followed him out.

Only two Sequence 9 military officers rushed upstairs in a hurry, their hearts pounding.

Their intuition told them that the Ambassador had probably met with misfortune.

Ryan, the security chief, rushed into the hall in a hurry, but was bumped several times by the surging crowd.

The explosion on the second floor and the fire in the kitchen all indicated that the Embassy had been attacked.

These guests could no longer sit still, and one by one they rushed towards the emergency exit.

At this moment, behind the curtains in the passage, there was a series of crackling sounds, followed by flames, instantly igniting the curtains.

The curtains caught fire, releasing thick smoke, causing the passage to become hazy.

Facing such Confusion, Ryan's mind first went blank, then he regained his composure, directing the guards in the hall to extinguish the fire and guide the crowd.

Embassy's second floor.

After snapping his fingers, Lex rushed into Bakerland's room.

He pulled down the blood-stained bedsheet, letting a girl's head roll to the ground.

Lex, who had already transformed into a werewolf, first used the bedsheet to simply wrap the Ambassador's body, which had been split in half, then carried it on his shoulder and violently crashed out of the window.

At this moment, two military officers happened to burst in.

Seeing a werewolf carrying the Ambassador's corpse crashing out of the window, they both roared in anger.

They chased after the window, leaped out, and landed on the ground.

When they stood up again, they saw the werewolf leap over the wall with a single bound.

The two military officers chased after him.

As they leaped onto the wall, a strong Light suddenly burst forth before their eyes.

The intense Light made them unable to see anything, and their eyes were irritated to the point of tearing up.

They cried out softly and covered their eyes.

After about four or five seconds, when they opened their eyes, the werewolf was nowhere to be seen.

"Damn it!"

"This is over."

The two exchanged glances, both seeing the grave expression in each other's eyes.

Backlund East Borough.

A four-wheeled carriage traveled down a quiet street and arrived at an abandoned factory.

The man driving the carriage jumped down.

In the moonlight, he had an ordinary, common face.

He pushed open the gate, drove the carriage in, and then got into the carriage.

There was nothing in the carriage, but as the man moved the small round table in the middle and lifted the carpet beneath it, a secret door was revealed.

Pushing open the secret door, inside was a space that could be used for luggage.

But now, there was no luggage in this space, only a corpse.

Bakerland's body, split in half.

"Good evening, Ambassador, we meet again."

The mediocre man said to Bakerland's corpse.

He then let out an 'oh': "You probably won't recognize me in this form."

He wiped his face and transformed into Green George, with a slicked-back hairstyle and a goatee.

Strictly speaking, it was Lex, wearing Mr. Green's face.

He cheerfully carried the Ambassador's corpse up, and found that on the way out of the Embassy, Bakerland's beyonder characteristics had completely precipitated, forming a deep red jelly-like substance.

"I didn't expect that after all my planning, the Ambassador would be assassinated by someone else, but it worked out for me."

Lex put away the 'jelly' and established a wall of spirituality: "If I had known that beyonder characteristics could be picked up so easily, why did I suffer so much yesterday? No, it wasn't entirely useless; at least I familiarized myself with the surroundings of the Embassy, which allowed me to escape so smoothly."

"In addition, the arrangements in the kitchen and evacuation aisle also created Confusion, preventing the Intis personnel from noticing that Mr. Green was not in the hall."

Inside each of those matchboxes, Lex had placed remote-controlled bombs made of flames, each the size of a button.

When Lex snapped his fingers, they were successively detonated, causing the fires in the kitchen and evacuation aisle.

Lex untied the "evil bandage" from the Ambassador's arm, which was used to interfere with divination, and wrapped it around his own palm.

He then reached out and searched Bakerland's corpse, thinking that someone of the Intis Ambassador's important status should have one or two magical items on him.

Sure enough, in the pocket on the left side of the corpse's chest, he found a strange object.

A Puppet head, only the size of a thumb, with completely black eyes!

After failing to find any other valuable items, Lex stood up, pressed his hand to his chest, and bowed slightly to the Ambassador's corpse, thanking Mr. Bakerland for his great contribution even after his death.

A Conspirer's beyonder characteristics and a magical item, how very generous!

Next, Lex planned to release the horses and then burn the carriage, along with the Ambassador's corpse.

He pushed open the carriage door and jumped down.

Suddenly, the window outside lit up, and then Lex's face was illuminated by firelight.

An orange-yellow fireball the size of a human head came smashing towards him, covering his head and face.

The Intis military officers had caught up?
