Chapter 246 - Camp Assessment

It was already dusk.

A turtledove flew towards its nest, and as it passed a large tree, a black shadow suddenly shot out from the canopy. The turtledove was startled and quickly flapped its wings, diving downwards.

Mid-air, Lex's lips curved slightly. He bent his legs, and flames suddenly shot out from the soles of his shoeless feet. Lex straightened his legs, using the propulsion of the flames to rocket towards the turtledove.

The turtledove cried out, frantically flapping its wings to change direction, sweeping to the left.

Lex reached out and pressed his hand to the right, flames erupting from his palm, immediately changing direction. Flames continuously spewed from his feet, and with a whoosh, he caught up to the turtledove. He reached out and caught the poor bird with his bare hands.

Landing on the ground, Lex let out two dry chuckles and let the turtledove fly away.

He clapped his hands and walked back.

"I've practiced acceleration and changing direction many times these past few days, and I'm very proficient now. Other Moves using flames are also second nature to me, all that's left is actual combat."

"Unfortunately, I can't seem to create that crimson sun like the 'Flame Emperor' no matter what I do. Otherwise, I'd have another super trump card."

"Never mind, one should be content. I've already used it once, so I'll definitely be able to use that Move again in the future."

"Besides, I've developed several new Moves these past two days."

"Firefly, Fire Fist, and the Fire Combo performed with my Clone. I really want to show them off to Quincy and the others; it would definitely blind them."

"It's a pity, I'm just a Sequence 8 Provoker, just a weak Beyonder, so I can't be so ostentatious."

Retrieving his coat and putting on his shoes, Lex walked into the trap, knocked out a few wild rabbits he had caught, and brought them back to the beach.

Today was Sunday.

If nothing unexpected happened, Ken Angus should return tomorrow with the Wavebreaker. Lex, who had lived on this desolate island for a whole week, finally couldn't bear to stay on this desolate island for another moment.

After dinner, everyone went to bed early.

After an unknown amount of sleep, Lex's spiritual perception was suddenly stirred, and he opened his eyes.

Almost at the same time, something flew in from outside the door, whizzing past the candle and 'blowing' out the candlelight.

The room immediately plunged into darkness.

"Wake up, we have an enemy!"

Lex shouted, jumping up, picking up the Blood Praise placed beside him, and pointing it towards the door.

A black shadow flashed in from outside the door.

Lex was about to shoot, but at that moment, Quincy sprang up, charging silently towards the black shadow. In an instant, he closed in on the mysterious intruder, raising his arm and throwing a punch. A series of crackling sounds echoed in the air as Quincy aimed a punch at the opponent's nose.

The nose is one of the most vulnerable parts of the human body. A heavy blow, besides causing the opponent pain, would also make their eyes water, blur their vision, and cause dizziness.

It must be said that Quincy's combat experience was very rich.

Bang!

Quincy hit the opponent, but what he hit was the opponent's arm. The person quickly used his arm to block, while his other hand delivered a heavy hook to Quincy's abdomen.

But when he hit Quincy's abdomen, he felt a slippery sensation from his fist, which prevented him from concentrating his strength, and his fist slid uncontrollably to one side.

Quincy's abdomen, cheeks, and arms were covered in illusory fish scales at some unknown point.

Seeing that it was difficult to launch a concentrated attack, the person simply crashed into Quincy, using his shoulder to hit Quincy's chest, sending him flying.

Seizing this opportunity, Lex shot at him.

However, this person seemed to have anticipated this. After knocking Quincy away, he immediately dove and rolled in the opposite direction. And in the process, he threw a flying knife at Lex.

"Not all that glitters is gold,

Not all who wander are lost.

The old that is strong does not wither,

Deep roots are not reached by the frost."

Edward's ethereal and melodious voice rang out from behind the simple house. As he chanted, Lex felt himself become lighter, his body filled with strength, and an infinite courage surged in his heart.

"From the ashes a fire shall be woken,

A light from the shadows shall spring;

Renewed shall be blade that was broken,

The crownless again shall be king."

Under the influence of Edward's poem, Lex put away his revolver to avoid accidentally injuring his companions in the dark. He and Quincy, who had charged again, jointly launched an attack on their opponent.

Under the influence of Edward's poem, their movements became more agile, and the power of their punches and kicks increased.

At the same time.

Edward began to chant another poem.

"Hold fast to dreams,

For if dreams die,

Life is a broken-winged bird,

That cannot fly."

As this song of slowness, which had once caused even werewolves' speed to plummet, rang out in the room, the mysterious person's movements immediately became stiff and sluggish.

Natalie encouraged from behind: "Lex, Quincy, don't be afraid of getting hurt. I'll heal you for free later. So, go all out!"

Frank, holding a small knife, glanced at her and whispered: "You'd better step back."

At the doorway.

Three figures were almost entangled together.

Originally, the mysterious person could still fight two against one, but after being affected by Edward's poem, he was hit more and more often.

Just like now.

Lex twisted his waist and swung his arm, sweeping out a punch.

Normally, he could have easily blocked this punch, but now his movements were a step too slow, and he was hit in the cheek by Lex.

With a muffled groan, he was then hit in the left ribs by Quincy. The mysterious person lost his balance and could not maintain a defensive stance.

Good opportunity!

Lex and Quincy both spun in place at the same time, simultaneously delivering a back kick!

Their feet struck the mysterious person, who grunted and flew out the door, landing on the beach.

Lex rushed out of the simple house, pulled out the Blood Praise, pointed it at the figure still lying on the ground, and was about to shoot.

"Stop!"

A very authoritative voice rang out, making Lex involuntarily want to obey. Then, fires lit up on the beach one after another, and torches illuminated the beach.

In the firelight, the captain of the Wavebreaker, wearing a long coat, a boat-shaped hat, and with a chin full of stubble, walked over.

He pulled up the person who had attacked Lex from the ground and chuckled dryly: "How was it?"

The person stood up, brushed the sand off himself, and nodded: "Not bad."

Under the firelight, Lex finally saw that this was a man in his thirties. He was wearing a dark blue top, cream-colored trousers, and a white scarf, and he grinned at Lex and the others.

"Let me introduce you, this is Vincent, our Second Mate. And congratulations, you've passed the first assessment for leaving camp."

Ken Angus pulled at the long coat draped over him and looked at Lex and the others: "After this period of adjustment, you've learned to cooperate and know that when facing a strong enemy, as long as you cooperate with each other and leverage your respective strengths, you can defeat opponents stronger than yourselves."

The captain held up a hand, spreading his five fingers: "A single finger has limited strength. But if you clench them into a fist, even rocks can be smashed open."

"This is the essence of teamwork, and I hope you will always remember this!"
