Chapter 265 - Don’t Look in the Mirror

The captain of the Sea Cow vaguely saw a dark, thin, short figure, seemingly a man, rapidly saying something to himself.

He only caught, 'This thing can wake up your companions' and 'The island is very dangerous.' By the time he could clearly see the underground hall, the man had already fled.

"Captain, where are we?"

The Sea Cow's captain shook his head, looked at the 'sobering agent' in his hand, and quickly got up, saying, "Quick, put them down, we need to leave immediately."

He stumbled to a companion, held the bottle to his companion's nose, and before long, his companion coughed a few times, eyes rolling, as if about to wake up.

"It works, this thing works!" The Sea Cow's captain couldn't help but secretly thank the person who left the 'sobering agent'.

But if he knew Lex's true intentions, he probably wouldn't thank him, and might even want to shoot him.

Lex had no good intentions; he saved these pirates for two reasons.

His battle with Hilda was very loud, and he worried it would attract the island's residents; if these pirates escaped, they could help him draw attention. Additionally, if he only rescued Quincy, it would easily lead people to associate him with 'Mr. Rayleigh.' After all, Quincy was 'Mr. Rayleigh's' worker, and if Lex visited Sea Island as 'Mr. Rayleigh' in the future, he might not be welcomed.

So, releasing the pirates could also prevent the Sea Island residents from guessing, through Quincy, that this matter was related to 'Mr. Rayleigh'.

While the pirates of the Sea Cow were busy saving themselves, outside the garden villa, figures appeared under the moonlight, in front of the villa's iron gate.

Under the moonlight, these people had numb expressions and hollow eyes. Most of them wore pajamas, with only a few in outdoor clothing. There were many of them, but no one carried lanterns or torches. Even though the moonlight was good tonight, without artificial light, many problems would still arise. Thus, several of these people had scrapes on their hands and legs, but they paid no attention.

Someone walked out, a pearl hairpin in her dark brown hair, with an ordinary appearance, around thirty years old, it was Leanna, a servant in Madam Hilda's home.

She pushed open the iron gate, leading the stiff-postured Sea Island residents into the garden. She saw the lawn churned up by the explosion, a smoking pit, and in the pit, the cold, extensively burned, unrecognizable Hilda.

Leanna's expression didn't change; she just shook her head and softly said, "This is too tragic, dear Madam, even your beyonder characteristics have been taken."

At this moment.

In a small warehouse in the northwest corner of the garden, the door suddenly opened, and a pirate cautiously poked his head out. Seeing the shadowy figures in the garden, he gasped. He was about to retreat but was roughly pushed out.

Immediately, Leanna looked over, her eyes meeting the pirate's.

The lady suddenly smiled, reached up to tuck a stray strand of hair, and pointed at the pirate: "Go, bring me back the 'lambs' to be offered to the gods!"

The originally hollow eyes of the Sea Island residents suddenly gained something else; Leanna's face appeared in their eyes, and Leanna's voice echoed in their ears.

These stiff-moving people suddenly became agile and rushed towards the pirate.

Beach.

The moonlight cast a crimson 'carpet', and the night wind carried the scent of flowers.

Lex had already removed his Thousand-Faced Traveler, carrying the still-unconscious Quincy, and ran towards the small boat he had left on the beach.

As he pushed the boat into the Sea and picked up Quincy, he heard faint gunshots from the direction of the High Priest's house. He narrowed his eyes slightly, quickened his pace, threw Quincy into the boat, then pushed the boat from the beach, jumped in himself, and began to row.

Windmill Island gradually receded, and he could now faintly see the lights of the Wavebreaker and its vague outline.

It was only then that Quincy groaned and woke up.

After he woke up, he was still a bit dazed. Suddenly realizing he was on the Sea, he immediately flipped over and plunged into the water with a splash.

Lex was dumbfounded, only one word appearing in his mind: lunatic!

A moment later, bubbles gurgled in the seawater, and Quincy surfaced, looking at Lex in the boat, the atmosphere a bit awkward.

"Are you planning to continue soaking in the water, or come up and help row?" Lex picked up the other oar and shook it.

Quincy didn't respond, but he came out of the water, got back into the boat, took the oar, and after a few strokes, said, "How did I get here?"

"The reason you're here is probably because I snuck into that High Priest's house on the island, took care of the High Priest who had returned, then carried you from that house all the way to the beach, and then threw you onto this boat."

Before Quincy could respond, Lex smiled again and said, "Don't force yourself to thank me, after all, I'm a noble you dislike."

Quincy snorted, indeed offering no thanks, and the two spent the rest of the time in silence.

Back on the Wavebreaker, after boarding the deck, Lex returned the balance of justice to the captain waiting on deck and said, "I have already used it."

Seeing Quincy also walk onto the deck, Ken pressed Lex's shoulder firmly, nodded, and said, "You did well. Now, don't worry about anything, come with me."

Lex followed the captain into the ship's cabin, arriving at a room. Ken opened the door and said to Lex, "This is the isolation room. You stay here for now. Don't do anything; wait until I figure out what weakness the balance of justice gave you."

"Alright."

Lex walked into the isolation room, lit a candle, and found there were no windows, no chandelier, and not even a bed.

It was very simply furnished, but it had one very special feature: the room's floor, walls, and ceiling were all padded, reminding Lex of a term: padded cell.

Because the captain had instructed him not to do anything, Lex simply lay down on the soft, padded 'floor', recalling his discoveries in the High Priest's house, and the more he thought about it, the more he found Windmill Island truly bizarre.

Just as Lex was about to fall asleep from waiting, the captain returned and said, "I've figured out what weakness the balance of justice gave you."

"It's mirrors, or anything that can serve as a mirror. As long as you don't look in a mirror or touch anything smooth and reflective, you should be safe."

Lex smiled and said, "Good thing I'm not a woman; I don't carry a mirror, and I see there's no mirror in the isolation room either."

Ken nodded and said, "You'll stay here until tomorrow night. I'll have someone lock the door, and meals will be brought to you. You'll just spend a day here."

Lex looked at the simple room and sighed, "This will probably be a very long day."
