The next day, Saturday noon, the Wavebreaker entered a port for resupply.
After lunch in the dining room, Lex went to the Captain's Cabin, knocked, and entered.
In his office, Ken Angus stood by the window, watching the Sailors busily moving supplies onto the Wavebreaker. On his desk, Lex saw a cup containing a deep red liquid that glowed like rolling magma.
Lex was not unfamiliar with it, knowing it was the Pyromaniac potion.
"Your potion is ready. Drink it. I'll watch you. If anything happens, I can intervene in time," the Captain turned and gestured to Lex.
Lex nodded, walked over, and picked up the cup of potion.
Although the Watcher had told him that drinking another potion wouldn't cause him to lose control on the spot, Lex was still a bit nervous when it came down to it. But in Ken's eyes, it seemed perfectly normal; every Beyonder felt nervous during advancement, and he was no exception.
After adjusting himself, Lex tilted his head back and slowly drank the potion.
Perhaps because he had already consumed one, Lex felt nothing amiss after drinking this potion; at most, he was slightly dazed, but he quickly recovered through meditation.
"How is it?" the Captain asked.
Lex feigned closing his eyes, as if sensing new power and the knowledge that had appeared in his mind, then raised his hand.
Whoosh~
Orange-red flames suddenly erupted from his palm.
Ken smiled: "Very good, you have successfully advanced. In that case, you can scram."
Lex opened his eyes, extinguished the flames, and said: "I still need a day or two to familiarize myself with the Pyromaniac's power, then I will begin my operation."
"By the way, Captain, where are we now?"
Ken Angus casually uttered a single word: "Bansi Port."
"Oh, so it's Bansi Port, Captain, then I…" Lex's expression suddenly froze, then he exclaimed, "Captain, where did you say? Bansi Port? Are you sure it's Bansi Port?"
Ken sized him up: "Yes, it's Bansi Port. Is something wrong? Are you alright?"
Wrong!
Very wrong!
Bansi Port is very dangerous, more than one Watcher has said not to stay on this Sea Island!
"I, I'm fine," Lex forced himself to calm down, "Then I'm getting off the ship now. I hope the next time I see you, I'll already be a member of the Golden Dream. Goodbye, Captain."
As he spoke, he retreated towards the door. By the time he said the last word, Lex had not only walked out the door but also closed the Captain's Cabin door behind him.
Ken stroked his broad chin and said: "What's that kid in such a hurry for?"
Thump thump thump.
Carrying a very ordinary leather briefcase, Lex stepped onto the Bansi Port dock. He had already shed his black vest, black trousers, and striped shirt. He wore a dark hooded cloak with light grey stripes, a dark blue top paired with orange-yellow shorts underneath, and square-toed short boots instead of leather shoes.
A backpack was slung over his shoulder, a revolver tucked at his waist, and wearing a straw hat, he looked like an Adventurer.
After disembarking, Lex had a clear goal and walked straight to the port's shipping company, directly entering the ticket hall. After buying a ticket to Damir Port, he sat down in the waiting area.
The Watcher said that Bansi Port only becomes dangerous at night, and it's only noon now, and I can board the ship in two hours. That means I can leave before sunset, so there's nothing to worry about.
Lex gradually relaxed, then thought about joining the Golden Dream.
If it's just going undercover for a day or two, then I can consider wearing the Thousand-Faced Traveler, using a stranger's face to join Iceberg Admiral. I can even use the magic ring and string puppet to impersonate a Beyonder of the Seer pathway.
But from the Captain's tone, I estimate I'll have to stay on the Golden Dream for a while, so I can't wear the Thousand-Faced Traveler; that would make me completely lose myself.
In that case, I can only join Iceberg Admiral as myself. The Captain said I could use any means, as long as I can gain the trust of that Admiral, even betray him…
Heh, when you think about it seriously, there's a lot of room for maneuver.
I can continue to use the name 'Rayleigh,' and as for my identity, a Pyromaniac who once stayed on a pirate ship, a man who was once a pirate but actually yearns for an Adventurer's life, would be perfect.
Oh, I can carry the compass I got from the nameless desolate Sea Island with me to strengthen my credibility as an Adventurer, after all, that compass might point to a Treasure Trove somewhere.
If it's a Treasure Trove, maybe I can find common ground with that female Admiral…
My identity can be settled like this, but I still need to consider my persona.
At this moment, Lex felt a gaze wandering over him. He resisted the urge to look back, and only after the gaze left did he look over.
He saw a young woman, in her early twenties. Her orange-yellow hair was tied into two ponytails, and she wore a dark brown jacket with many pockets that could hold a lot of things. She had an ordinary appearance, with some freckles on her face, and was chatting excitedly with her companions, her eyes sparkling with a Light, which Lex interpreted as 'anticipation' and 'longing.'
She had two companions, both men. The one she was chatting with was a man in his early thirties. He had a well-proportioned build, wearing a red long coat over a white shirt, but paired with dark shorts, revealing two hairy legs.
The other was a burly man, tall and muscular. It was already October, but he was only wearing a black overcoat, revealing his strong chest and six clearly defined abs.
All three of them carried weapons, and the Miss with ponytails even took out a nautical chart and pointed at it. They looked like true Adventurers.
The Miss with ponytails must have noticed me earlier because she thought I was also an Adventurer, so she took a second look… Lex withdrew his gaze, smiled, and said in a voice only he could hear: "Too bad, I'm not."
"I'm just an undercover agent."
At 6 PM, Lex stepped onto the dock of Damir Port, feeling a deep sense of relief.
"First, find a hotel to settle down, then go to a bar to gather information. Tomorrow, I'll collect mummy powder; I'm only missing that one Material. After I create the staff of resentment, I'll start to flesh out Mr. Rayleigh's life."
After finding a decent hotel near the port and dropping off his luggage, Lex went to a bar near the port, introduced by the hotel waiter.
"Flying Fish and Wine." Lex shook his head, "That name is pretty casual."
