Chapter 286 - The Laughing Man

The main character in the second set of murals was the woman wearing armbands and feathers. She stood in front of a window, outside of which was the Sea with several sailboats.

The entire painting did not show the front of the figure, but it made one feel that the woman seemed to be missing someone, especially since she was facing the Sea, it was easy to associate her with the man in the first mural who was pointing at the sailboat and looked ready to set sail.

By the third set of murals, the woman was already standing on a sailboat. The scene depicted a dock where people were continuously moving cattle, sheep, boxes, bottles, and other items onto the sailboat. It seemed the woman intended to set sail to find the person she missed.

After viewing the murals one by one, Lex roughly understood the story.

The story began with a man setting sail, and then described how the woman with the armband, out of longing for him, also organized a crew and went to Sea. She encountered Sea monsters and fought pirates on the Sea.

Eventually, her ship ran aground near a Sea Island. She and the people on the ship came to the Sea Island, were welcomed by the local natives, and became their Ruler.

Soon after, some people sought her treasures, leading to a battle. In the mural depicting the woman fighting her enemies, there were two enemies.

One of them, very strangely, emerged from the other person's belly and attempted to assassinate the woman.

The second seemed able to enter the woman's dreams and tried to modify them.

But in the end, both of them were killed by the woman, but the woman was also severely wounded by them and soon faced death.

However, the people of the primitive tribe believed that this woman could return from the Underworld. They buried the woman and her two enemies, who were clearly Beyonder, together in the same coffin. In the murals, there was a scene of the woman rising from the coffin, symbolizing the beautiful wishes of the natives.

But in the next set of murals, that coffin opened, and indescribable, eerie tentacles stretched out from within. These tentacles penetrated deep into the earth, awakening the corpses buried underground, creating a disaster.

So, in the later murals, the natives opened the original coffin and took out things like corpses from it, placing them into other coffins. Finally, three coffins were placed upright and tightly bound with iron chains to prevent anything inside from escaping.

After looking at these murals, Lex looked at the coffin on the golden platform, thoughtfully saying, "It seems that after the death of the three Beyonder, their beyonder characteristics aggregated, causing an anomaly and creating a catastrophic disaster."

"So, after the disaster, the remaining natives separated them and sealed artifact them in coffins. But it seems this didn't do much."

"I think so too."

"Also..."

Bishop Millet pointed to the mural where the woman was assassinated by two enemies and said, "The enemy who could emerge from a human body should be the Rose Bishop. As for the one who could enter dreams and try to modify something, that should be the Dream Walker."

"As for that woman, she could control and command the Undead. Since she could kill the Rose Bishop and the Dream Walker, she must be at least a Gatekeeper, but probably not an Undying."

The Rose Bishop is a Sequence 6 of the Secret Supplicant pathway, and the Dream Walker is a Sequence 5 of the Spectator pathway.

As for the Gatekeeper, Lex naturally knew that it was a Sequence 5 of the Corpse Collector pathway. He had once eliminated an incomplete Gatekeeper and was well aware of how terrifying such an Beyonder could be.

Bishop Millet looked at the golden platform: "From the murals, it seems the natives on this Sea Island buried the bodies of the three Beyonder in a single coffin, which gave their beyonder characteristics a chance to Fusion, ultimately forming something dangerous."

"That thing was eventually divided into three parts by the natives and Sealed in three golden coffins. Now two coffins have already opened. If the third coffin also opens, then they will return to completeness."

"By then, I'm afraid the entire Damir Port will fall."

Lex frowned, "If something has already come out of those two coffins, then where would they be now?"

"This..." Millet suddenly looked around and then exclaimed, "No, their condition is a bit off."

They?

Reminded by Bishop Millet, Lex noticed that Hana and the Enforcers team members all had hollow eyes, were as still as wooden chickens, and looked very abnormal.

Lex quickly went to Green, who was closest to him, and shook the thin man's body: "How are you doing? Pull yourself together."

Suddenly.

Thump!

Thump-thump!

A knocking sound began.

The sound came from the direction of the golden platform.

Lex abruptly turned his head and looked at the only remaining, unopened coffin on the platform. The lid of this golden coffin was carved with a woman crossing her hands over her chest, seemingly the woman from the murals.

Now, from inside this coffin, tightly bound with layers of iron chains, a series of knocking sounds echoed: Thump... Thump... Thump-thump-thump-thump!

The sound suddenly became violent, but soon, it stopped.

Lex's hand quietly moved to the hilt of his katana, adjusting his breathing, preparing for battle.

Just then.

He heard a laugh behind him.

Hearing this sudden laugh, Lex felt all the hairs on the back of his neck stand up. He quickly turned around, his katana drawn three inches from its sheath, and saw someone with his back to him, standing in front of the mural, laughing heartily.

The eerie thing was.

Green, who had been there earlier, was gone!

Not only Green, but even Bishop Millet, Hana, the Enforcers, and even Bearded Man Sklef, they had all disappeared.

In the vast main hall, only Lex remained, and the person laughing in front of him.

That person was wearing a white shirt, pure black trousers, and was barefoot. He slowly stopped laughing and gradually raised his head. This allowed Lex to see that he, like Lex, had black hair.

"Who are you?" Lex said in a deep voice.

The person stopped laughing. He exhaled, half-turned his face, his eyes a dark blue, and a disdainful smile played on his lips: "It's me, Lex. Have you already forgotten me?"

Boom!

Lex's mind buzzed, and he looked at this person in disbelief, unable to believe that the name 'Lex' came from his mouth!

The person slowly turned around, and Lex saw a faint scar under his right eye, like a tear stain.

He looked exactly like Lex, except for the position of the scar; otherwise, he was practically a Clone.

"I don't know you. Who are you, really!" Lex completely drew out 'Devil May Cry', pointing the blade at this guy who was like his own Clone.

The person put his hand on his forehead and let out a hysterical laugh, laughing until tears streamed down his face. He gasped between laughs and said, "You actually don't remember me?"

"How could you forget me?"

"You created me!"

"You even gave me a name."

"You called me..."
