Chapter 316 - Want to make extra money?

After Richard left, Lex took out his pocket watch, and only left the room when the time was around 8:30.

Holding the staff of resentment, he leisurely entered the dining room.

This day, he lived with extreme regularity.

After breakfast at 9:30, he would go to the deck to feel the breeze and look at the sea.

At 10:30, he returned to his room, read magazines, and then meditated.

He appeared in the dining room punctually at 12:00 PM, spending over an hour on his meal.

At 3:30 PM, he would rent a set of fishing tools and use them to fish in a less crowded area at the stern, passing the time.

At 7:00 PM, he would appear in the dining room again, finish his meal around 8:00 PM, and then return to his room.

Thus, the day passed.

Back in his room, Lex lit the gas lamp and saw a piece of paper on the table by the window.

He calmly picked it up and read it by the light of the gas lamp.

The paper still contained beautiful words like musical notes, and the content was related to Lex's request from the morning.

'The two people you want to investigate have nothing to do with your matter; the specific details are as follows.'

'The rude man with his flaxen hair tied in a braid is named Glad, and he lives in third class, room number 3102.

He is a bodyguard, but recently, due to assaulting his employer, he not only lost his job but also had to pay a considerable amount in liquidated damages.

He sold his assets, which just covered the liquidated damages, but no one in the local area is willing to hire him anymore.'

'The short-tempered Glad had no choice but to decide to go to Bayam, where he has a cousin who specializes in providing medicine, food, and weapons to the resistance organization in Bayam.'

'His cousin happens to need a protector, so our Mr. Glad volunteered, planning to seek an opportunity in Bayam.'

'Additionally, the lady with burgundy hair you mentioned is named Jennifer, and she lives in second class, room number 213.

This Miss, only 24 years old, is the mistress of a spice merchant.

Well, however, her lover only appears in Bayam for two to three months out of the year.'

'During this time, the beautiful and passionate Miss Jennifer will go to Bayam to comfort her lover's lonely and empty heart.

Staying in Bayam for about two months, she can probably earn 200 pounds, which is enough for her year's expenses.'

'And now is the time for her to go to Bayam to meet her lover.'

'Besides this, someone is still observing you today; when you were having breakfast, when you were enjoying the breeze on the deck, when you were fishing, and when you were having dinner, different people were observing you.

But as I said yesterday, although these people have different appearances and genders, they all have the same body language and behavioral habits.

Therefore, I think you should know what kind of Beyonder you are facing.'

At the end of the note was a short phrase: Don't increase my workload!

Lex smiled, burned the paper, then opened the window and hung his gray cloak out to air.

A moment later, Richard's voice sounded in his room: "I'm regretting it a bit now; your 300 pounds doesn't seem that easy to earn."

"Speak, what else is there?"

Lex didn't turn around; he sat by the window, picked up a magazine, his eyes fixed on it, but his mouth said, "I want to know, is anyone still observing outside now?"

"Yes, that fellow's current identity is a cleaner; he is sweeping the corridor.

But honestly, his work attitude is too careless; if I were the captain, I would definitely dock his pay."

"Speaking of pay, shouldn't you be paying me today's salary?"

Lex was prepared, took out 300 pounds, and placed them on the table: "I want to go out but don't want to be discovered.

Do you have any ideas?"

As he spoke, he glanced at the table; the stack of banknotes was gone.

"No, but he will leave around 9 o'clock, just like last night.

If you want to move around, you can leave after 9 o'clock."

Lex nodded: "Can you accompany me for a trip?"

Richard's voice was tinged with helplessness: "Yes, who made me your bodyguard, who made me have a contractual spirit.

Otherwise, I would guide you to forget about hunting."

"Thank you," Lex said with a smile.

This time, Richard did not respond.

Five minutes later, Lex put down the magazine, turned around, and there was no one else in the room besides him.

9 o'clock quickly arrived.

Lex clenched his fist and coughed dryly, then heard someone outside the door say in a low voice, "He's gone, just as I said before, you can come out now."

Pushing the door open, one or two passengers passed by in the corridor, but Richard was nowhere to be seen.

Lex naturally closed his room door.

He walked towards a staircase at the end that led to the lower deck cabins, and soon he found the third-class cabin, room 3102.

Lex gently knocked on the door with a loosely clenched fist.

A grumpy voice sounded from inside: "Who is it?"

"Sir, would you like to earn some extra money?" Lex said with a smile.

There was a moment of silence in the room, then the door opened, and Glad, who had to duck his head to see outside, looked at Lex in confusion: "What did you just say?"

Lex glanced into the room: "May I come in to speak?"

After sizing Lex up for a moment, Glad stepped back a few paces, making way.

Entering the room, Lex closed the door behind him and briefly observed his surroundings, finding that the third-class cabin was even more cramped than the second-class, and had no windows.

It was difficult for someone as tall as Glad to live in such a room.

"Speak, what did you just say, extra money?" Glad seemed very short on cash; he asked a bit impatiently, yet feigned nonchalance as he sat on the edge of the bed.

Lex smiled and nodded: "That's right, I have something I'd like your help with.

For this, you might get a punch from me.

I wonder if you mind?"

Glad froze for a moment, then let out a low growl like a beast: "Get out!"

Lex didn't get out; he pulled a pound note from his pocket and placed it on the nearby table.

It was 10 pounds!

Glad's breathing immediately became heavier.

He looked at the pound note, then at Lex, and could no longer utter the word 'get out'.

Lex added another banknote of the same denomination on top of the first pound.

Glad suddenly stood up, his chest heaving, his gaze becoming fervent.

When the money on the table became 30 pounds, he couldn't help but lick his lips, wanting to speak but holding back.

Lex shrugged his shoulders: "It seems you are a gentleman who regards money as nothing.

You have noble qualities that are admirable.

Then let's pretend I was never here; I will find someone else to solve this problem."

Lex collected the money from the table, and just as he turned around, he heard heavy footsteps and felt a hand on his shoulder.

He turned back and saw Glad say forcefully, "30 pounds, never mind one punch, ten punches are no problem!"

What a straightforward person!

Lex took out the pounds again and smiled: "Then we can have a good talk now."
