Chapter 272 - Chapter 272: Learning New Magic; Casting Ryuujin Jakka?

For those who weren't fans of Type-Moon lore, the ability might seem vague, but Alistair recognized the essence of Gilgamesh's trait.

[The Collector]: This ability significantly increases the probability of obtaining rare items. In any "gacha" or probability-based scenario, if there is a chance of success, Alistair will almost certainly succeed. If he fails, it's due to divine intervention or a rigged system, never his own luck.

So I've become a permanent resident of 'Luck Heaven'?

Strictly speaking, it wasn't a "Great Luck" charm like Medea's [High Luck Talisman], which Alistair had used previously (and suffered the backlash from). [The Collector] only applied to the acquisition of things.

However, there was an additional perk: Once a month, he could force an "Acquisition" to produce a 'Useful' item tailored perfectly to his current situation.

I'll save that for the end of the month, Alistair decided.

The next four days were a living hell.

"Steady! Keep your hands steady! I'm not even using my own training standards yet. Don't tell me after four days you're still weaker than a squire! And turn off that damn enhancement ability—you need to build real muscle!" Takai barked in the courtyard.

Alistair was dripping sweat, his arms shaking under the weight of iron buckets. By the second day, Takai had introduced "Gravity Bracers" that increased his effective weight fivefold.

Beyond physical torture, Takai taught him two specific spells: [Flame Healing] and [Flame Shroud].

The former used high-intensity fire mana to incinerate toxins or foreign bodies inside the user—a painful but effective way to achieve a sort of "elementalization." The latter was an enchantment that wreathed a weapon in heat so intense it could physically evaporate flesh upon contact.

"My master," Takai had said, "could use this to make a blade as hot as the sun's core. Even a Great Dragon would lose a limb to a single graze."

Alistair felt like he was being taught how to manually create a Ryuujin Jakka from Bleach.

But more importantly, Takai had shown him a glimpse of Sealing Magic. He had successfully "sealed" a portion of the Dragon Talisman's power to prevent it from leaking. This made Alistair realize that relying solely on his Talismans was a weakness—if an enemy could seal them, he'd be defenseless. He took the "abuse" of training in stride, knowing he was finally filling the holes in his foundation.
