"You saw a girl in a red cloak who was likely a Transcendent? Sorry, I don't know anyone like that," Uncle Takai said, his expression turning grim. "But I should investigate. Another Transcendent in my territory? I need to say hello."
"Was she human?" Takai asked.
"I'm not sure. She had a large cloak. She was short, maybe five feet tall."
"That short? A Halfling? But they usually specialize in smithing. A disguise?" Takai didn't think she was human. In the Fantasy World, five feet was exceptionally short for a human mage. He suspected she was a member of a Demi-Human race. "Why would a Transcendent Demi-Human come here? She must be looking for something important."
"Alistair, do you have any detection or sensory abilities?"
"I have [Hunt], but it's for tracking, not analyzing a person's nature," Alistair admitted.
"Fine. If she just vanished without disturbing the locals, she might just be passing through." Takai took another sip of tea, relaxing slightly.
"Aren't you worried about Chitose and Aoi?"
"Chitose has a special warding amulet I made. Even if I attacked her with full strength, it would take two direct hits to break it. She's safe."
Alistair blinked. Takai's "full strength" could level a stadium in this low-mana world. If the amulet could tank two of those, it was a masterpiece.
"Just be careful, Alistair. If you can sense her, she can sense you. Don't go digging. In this world, curiosity really does kill the cat."
"I understand," Alistair said solemnly.
Hmph. I'm not that arrogant, am I?
Standing right behind them—completely invisible—the girl in the red cloak pouted. She didn't hate humans; she was just indifferent.
He's right about one thing, though. I am looking for someone. Not an object, but a person.
She looked at Alistair. The fact that he had glimpsed her through her "Destiny Magic" was telling. That spell was specifically designed so that only the "Chosen Savior" could see through it.
He has the potential, she thought. But for now... he's just a clumsy warrior who can't even see me standing three feet away.
