Chapter 30 - The Training Gear Arrives

"Kiawe, what does it feel like when you use a Z-Move?"

"What does it feel like…?"

Kiawe closed his eyes, thinking. "When I activate it, I feel as if I and my Pokémon merge into one. The moment it releases, it's like every ounce of power in our bodies is drawn out. Once it's done… both of us are exhausted."

Bai Chen nodded silently, his expression thoughtful.

So that was it — Z-Moves drew on the energy of both trainer and Pokémon, fusing with nature's power to amplify a single attack.

It reminded him of the Bond Techniques from his own world, the ones tied to the mysterious Bond Stones.

The concepts felt similar — but the details and principles remained a mystery.

He hadn't yet unlocked a Bond Skill himself.

Bai Chen leaned forward slightly.

"Then how exactly do you obtain a Z-Ring and Z-Crystal?"

"Same way as in the stories," Kiawe replied. "To use a Z-Move, you need both the Ring and the Crystal. And you have to strike a specific pose — otherwise, nothing happens."

"And how do you get them?"

"By taking the Island Challenge. Beat the Totem Pokémon, then pass the Kahuna's trial. Only then are you granted a Z-Crystal — and the right to use a Z-Move."

That lined up perfectly with what Bai Chen remembered from the anime.

If Kiawe could complete the trial, so could he.

But Kiawe gave him a warning look.

"Since you're asking all this, I guess you're thinking of trying it yourself. But don't underestimate it. I only barely passed — and that was with my grandfather's Charizard helping me."

Level 52.

That kind of power was far beyond Bai Chen's current reach.

Still, Kiawe quickly added with a grin:

"That said, the Kahunas don't use their full strength against new challengers. The trials are meant to teach, not crush. So if you prepare right, it's possible."

That made sense. If every Kahuna fought at full strength, no one would ever earn a Z-Crystal.

Bai Chen smiled faintly. "I understand."

Nineteen days until the next dimensional transfer.

That was enough time — enough to sharpen his edge once more.

His eyes hardened.

"Seventeen days," he murmured. "Seventeen days to be ready for the island trials."

After lunch, Bai Chen and Kiawe agreed to continue sparring in the coming days.

Meanwhile, Tinkatuff was eyeing Kiawe's Charizard like a predator eyeing treasure. Her hammer twitched in her tiny hands — she clearly wanted to pry open that dragon's skull and forge a new Fire Soul from it.

Bai Chen held her back by the shoulders.

"Easy there. That thing's level fifty-two. Even if the three of us gang up, we wouldn't last five seconds."

Tinkaton glared, unconvinced.

Bai Chen grinned.

"Tell you what — once the time comes, I'll hunt you a Gold Rathian myself. You can forge to your heart's content."

The name meant nothing to her — but she could tell by Bai Chen's tone that it was something powerful.

Her eyes lit up immediately.

By afternoon, Bai Chen and Lillie returned home.

In a quiet corner of the yard, unseen by the others, the day's real battle had already been decided — and the victor was Lillie.

From that day on, Kiawe's sister, Mimo, suddenly took up piano, calligraphy, and flower arrangement.

When Bai Chen entered the courtyard, a team of Machamps was hauling enormous crates into place.

Inside: gleaming, industrial-grade training equipment.

Each one stamped with the seal of Aether Foundation — a gift from Lusamine herself.

Bai Chen's sharp eyes caught something immediately.

The Machamps had faint auras shimmering around them.

He focused on reading their ability list.

"Bulk Up."

"Focus Energy."

He smirked.

"Perfect."

Before the delivery crew could leave, Bai Chen politely stopped them.

"Would you mind a quick sparring match?"

The Machamps looked at one another — then shrugged.

Ten minutes later, Bai Chen walked back grinning, two new skills flashing in his system window.

[Skill Acquired: Muscle Up]

[Skill Acquired: Focus Energy]

Lillie gave the workers a generous tip before seeing them off.

In the training area, Bai Chen inspected his new gear.

Everything had been replaced with custom-made, heavy-duty designs.

These weren't human machines anymore — they were monstrous.

The largest weight stack could reach twenty tons.

Lillie looked around, wide-eyed.

"There isn't a single piece of this equipment I could even lift…"

Bai Chen tightened a bolt, grinning.

"That's the idea."

He tested a few lifts — the steel groaned under his grip. Satisfied, he nodded.

"Perfect. These will last me until I reach Master rank with Titan Body."

"White-san," Lillie asked softly, "are you planning to master the Z-Move before returning to your world?"

"If possible, yes. After seeing it up close, how could I not? It'd be a waste not to learn something that powerful."

"Understood. I'll contact the Aether Foundation to help arrange it. Please, focus on your training."

"Thanks, Lillie."

He watched her leave, then opened his Skill Menu.

Twelve skills now glowed on the list:

He leaned back against one of the new machines, whispering under his breath:

"These two… Bulk Up and Focus Energy… there's potential here."

A faint grin tugged at his lips.

"If they react with my other techniques—"

He tightened his grip on the training bar, eyes gleaming.

"—then maybe I'll discover something truly new."
