Chapter 91 - News of a New Elder Dragon

Bai Chen's reply to the two Wyverians was sharp and absolute.

"No."

The older of the two blinked beneath his straw hood, taken aback by how firm he sounded.

Because Bai Chen wasn't just being cautious — he was being realistic.

"No one offers kindness without a reason," he thought grimly. "If they're suddenly inviting me to their village out of nowhere, then they must want something."

And besides, what could he possibly gain from a visit to a Wyverian settlement?

He didn't need sightseeing. He didn't need old-world wisdom.

The Research Commission had spent decades trying to befriend these people just to extract information about the New World.

But Bai Chen?

He already understood this world better than anyone else.

He didn't need the Wyverians' help.

Still, the elder bowed slightly and spoke again, voice low and deliberate.

"We extend a sincere invitation to you, Dragon Rider. Our Great Elder wishes to offer you a gift in gratitude."

"A gift?" Bai Chen scoffed lightly. "What, are you planning to give me an Elder Dragon egg or something?"

A moment of silence. Then, the elder spoke.

"We do not possess an egg. But we do know where one lies."

Bai Chen froze.

"...What did you just say?"

"Great Dragon Rider," the elder repeated slowly, "we know of an Elder Dragon's egg — and we are willing to share that knowledge with you."

Bai Chen's eyes widened.

He had been joking — just throwing the words out. But the Wyverians' response was dead serious.

They really knew.

"Which Elder Dragon?" Bai Chen pressed, pulse quickening.

Even though he could technically "create" Elder Dragons himself, that process required time — and massive resources. A naturally born Elder Dragon, on the other hand, came into existence already extraordinary.

Finding a real egg would be a treasure beyond measure.

But the elder merely shook his head.

"That information is a sacred secret of our people. Only the Great Elder may reveal it."

Bai Chen sighed.

"So that's your play. You're dangling the secret to get me to come."

If it had been any other kind of "gift," he would've turned them away on the spot.

But this… this was different.

"Fine," he said after a moment of thought. "Once I've finished the hunt for this Sea Wyvern, I'll go with you. But if that information turns out to be fake…"

He smiled thinly.

"Don't blame me for what happens to your village."

"We speak only the truth," the elder replied calmly.

"Then I'll trust you — once." Bai Chen waved them off. "Now get somewhere safe. This area's about to become a battlefield."

The Wyverians nodded and silently retreated into the forest's shadow.

Bai Chen returned to his vantage point on the small hill, raising his telescope again.

The Sea Wyvern still slumbered on the beach, oblivious.

He had only slept two hours last night, but fatigue didn't matter — this hunt required precision, not rest.

By dusk, Bai Chen had charted every part of the creature's routine.

The Sea Wyvern always left its den at 8 a.m. to hunt, feeding for about four hours before returning.

After that, it would rest inside its cave until the late afternoon, then patrol the waters again around 4 p.m. for a few hours before nightfall.

For two full days, Bai Chen observed and confirmed that the cycle never changed.

"Perfect. Fixed habits mean predictable behavior."

There were only six days left before his return to the Pokémon world. Everything had to go right.

That morning, they ate a heavy breakfast — roasted meat, fruit, and roots — enough energy to sustain a long, brutal fight.

As he finished his meal, Bai Chen noticed a large basket of ripe fruit placed quietly beside him.

He glanced up — the Wyverians again.

Twelve of them this time, perched silently in the trees, watching.

"One… two… twelve?" Bai Chen counted under his breath.

Two of them were taller than the rest — broad-shouldered, warriors perhaps.

He sighed inwardly.

"I didn't say they couldn't watch, but seriously? This many? It's like a live audience."

Most of them weren't even looking at him — their attention was locked on Nergigante nestled near the fire.

"So that's it," Bai Chen mused. "They're curious because I've tamed an Elder Dragon."

He exhaled and forced his thoughts away.

"Whatever their motive is, I'll find out later. For now… focus on the hunt."

He checked his watch — 7 a.m.

"The Sea Wyvern will start hunting soon."

He turned to the Master Smith beside him.

"Let's move out. According to plan."

"Yama!"

The tiny blacksmith hefted a heavy pack nearly her own size and followed as they crept toward the beach.

The Wyverians watched from the trees, and to Bai Chen's disbelief, they began following too — quiet as shadows, keeping their distance.

By 8 a.m., the Sea Wyvern had stirred.

Just as expected, it slid into the waves, vanishing beneath the surface to hunt.

Bai Chen waited until it was well outside his detection range. Then he and the Master Smith sprinted into the cavernous den.

For an hour, they worked.

Hammering. Anchoring. Burying steel and chain beneath sand and stone.

Then they slipped back out, concealing their scent and energy.

Bai Chen crouched behind a boulder, activating Super Perception several times until he was certain — not a single trace of aura leaked.

Now all that was left was to wait.

Three hours later, the waves parted again.

The Sea Wyvern emerged — scales gleaming, breath heavy, faint arcs of static dancing across its body.

It looked exhausted.

It had clearly overused its lightning organs while hunting.

Just as Bai Chen predicted.

The Sea Wyvern sniffed the air, scanning the shore — then slithered into its cave to rest.

Bai Chen waited thirty minutes longer.

Then, he moved.

He sprinted down the slope and plunged his hands into the sand where the buried chain lay.

"Move technique — Body Sculpt."

His muscles tensed, dragonfire energy burning through every vein.

Black-red aura flared violently around him.

His eyes darkened, the whites turning black, irises glowing gold.

Extreme Qi Overdrive!

With a roar, Bai Chen pulled.

The buried steel erupted from beneath the ground — thick, interlocked chains rising like an awakened serpent, wrapping around the entrance to the den.

Inside, the Sea Wyvern jolted awake in confusion and fury, thrashing as the heavy links closed in around its body.

Bai Chen didn't give it time.

"Hold it—!"

The Master Smith grabbed another section of chain, planting her feet and pulling with all her might.

Together, they tightened the trap — the metallic screech echoing through the cave.

"Now!"

A sphere on Bai Chen's belt burst open, light flooding the sand.

The rock wyvern appeared with a ground-shaking roar.

Bai Chen looped the chain over its armored body.

"Pull him out! Drag him to the forest!"

"RROOOAARR!"

Rock wyvern's claws dug deep, its massive body surging forward.

The Sea Wyvern's colossal weight tore against the bindings, but inch by inch, it was ripped from its den.

The sand exploded as the leviathan's body was dragged across the shore, leaving a jagged scar of crushed rock and seawater behind.

The Sea Wyvern shrieked, writhing — lightning bursting from its scales in a storm of blue arcs.

Bolts raced down the chains, slamming into Rock wyvern — and vanished harmlessly across its stony hide.

"Good! Counterattack — Heavy Slam!"

Rock wyvern roared again, its scales gleaming like molten steel as it charged.

The chains tightened, dust and seawater bursting outward.

And the battle for the Sea Wyvern had finally begun.
