Chapter 142 - Registration for the World Championships Begins!

Bai Chen had Little Cosmog teleport him straight to the Galar region.

Normally, even if a Pokémon knew Teleport, moving across entire regions like this was impossible — distance, interference, and spatial distortion would completely block the move.

But Little Cosmog wasn't "normal."

As a legendary-class space-type lifeform, any spatial skill he used would be immensely amplified.

The moment Bai Chen stepped out of the teleportation glow, he found himself inside the familiar Stow-on-Side Stadium.

Down on the arena floor, Bea was currently handling a Gym challenge.

The challenger looked young — maybe twelve, thirteen at most.

Bea wasn't even using her real team.

She'd sent out a trainee Machop, barely level 25.

Bai Chen checked the time.

He wasn't in a hurry anyway.

So he casually found a seat in the stands and watched.

Bea, true to her serious nature, held nothing back.

She and her Machop completely demolished the challenger.

The boy bit back tears, grabbed his Poké Ball, and ran out of the stadium.

Bea didn't bat an eye.

With her poor memory for names and faces, she'd probably forget him within minutes.

She was just about to leave the field when she suddenly spotted Bai Chen seated on the stands.

She immediately jogged over, posture straight and respectful.

│ "Master, why are you here?"

Ever since Bai Chen taught her how to sense and use battle aura, Bea insisted on calling him "Master."

He couldn't talk her out of it — so he eventually let her keep it.

│ "Nothing much. I was nearby, so I thought I'd drop in and check on you.

  │ How's your aura training?"

Bea nodded seriously.

│ "I can sense it clearly now… but it still feels like I'm far from the 'Aura Manifestation' you described."

│ "Take it slow. Your talent is good — keep working, and you'll open that state sooner or later."

  │ "Yes!"

At that moment, Little Nebula floated curiously around Bea, bobbing up and down.

Bea blinked.

  │ "Master, this is…?"

│ "My new partner. You can call him Little Nebula."

Bai Chen waved him back, signaling him not to bother Bea.

Bea glanced at the tiny legendary Pokémon for a moment, then returned her focus to Bai Chen.

│ "Seeing your progress, I'm relieved.

│ Make sure you don't slack, though."

She nodded firmly.

Seeing Bai Chen turn to leave, she suddenly called out:

  │ "Master, wait!"

│ "Hm? Trouble with your aura training?"

│ "No… I wanted to ask if you're interested in this."

She tapped her phone a few times and turned the screen toward him.

Across the display were eight bold characters:

  Pokémon World Championships

Bea explained:

│ "It's the biggest tournament in the world — every top trainer joins.

│ The champion becomes the strongest trainer on the planet.

│ I want to challenge Champion Leon."

│ "Is this your first World Championship?"

│ "Yes. I want to try… no — I want to defeat him."

Bai Chen nodded.

Inside, he mused:

So the Galar storyline is starting… Bea's first attempt won't succeed. She'll lose to Leon, then train even harder.

Bea stared at him with a burning gaze.

│ "Master… do you want to join the World Championships too?

│ If possible, I want to defeat you on the battlefield someday."

│ "Me? Even if I join, I wouldn't be fighting personally."

  │ "Right… that's true."

│ "If you want to surpass me, beat Champion Leon first.

│ After that, you'll have earned the right to challenge me."

In truth, Bai Chen knew Leon's team was terrifying — but he also believed in his own future potential.

If he wanted to one day challenge Arceus, how could he fear a "world champion"?

Bea asked again:

│ "So, Master is interested in joining?"

  │ "Yeah, I'm interested."

His motivation was simple:

experience points.

Battles against high-level Pokémon gave the best EXP.

But once his own monsters reached high levels, wild Pokémon would stop giving worthwhile gains.

Unless he hunted legendary Pokémon for XP — which was unrealistic.

The World Championships, however, were the perfect grind.

The only problem…

He worried that sending his team — all raised to legendary standards — might be too cruel for ordinary trainers.

It'd be embarrassing if the world discovered that the "mysterious ace Pokémon" was bullying everyone…

…was actually himself.

Bai Chen asked:

│ "When does registration open? And when does the tournament start?"

  │ "Registration begins today.

│ The tournament starts in one month.

│ The preliminaries last ten months — then the eight strongest trainers enter the 'Master Class Tournament' to determine the champion."

Bai Chen nodded.

  Ten months of endless EXP.

Perfect.

  │ "One more question.

│ Are trainers strictly forbidden from fighting personally?"

Bea froze.

Technically… no one ever said you couldn't.

But no sane human would step onto the field to fistfight Pokémon.

Except—

Her master could fight Pokémon.

On equal footing.

│ "Um… maybe I should ask the organizers?

│ They might allow it. Especially if it boosts viewership."

  │ "Think there's a chance?"

  │ "Possibly!

│ After all, you can use Z-Moves… and even Gigantamax.

│ Strictly speaking, Master, you're… not really human."

She'd once mistaken him for a legendary Pokémon, so her logic wasn't wrong.

  │ "Fine. Ask for me.

│ If they're willing, I don't mind stepping into the ring myself."

Pretending to be a Pokémon was also an option…

But Bai Chen refused to stoop that low.

Hala and the others all knew he was human.

If he suddenly showed up on TV cosplaying as a Pokémon…

He'd never live it down.

  │ "I'll try asking!

│ Oh — for registration, you must submit your information personally."

│ "Alright. Try to get it done within three days."

│ "Master has urgent business in three days?"

│ "Yeah. I'll be in seclusion for a month."

  │ "Understood."

Not doubting him at all, Bea simply admired his dedication.

In her mind, every true powerhouse trained endlessly.

She quietly vowed to double her own training intensity.

Bai Chen saw it in her expression.

  │ "Don't overdo it.

│ Hard training is good, but rest is part of strength too.

│ Here — I'll teach you something useful."

He taught her the "Deep Sleep Technique," which was actually the Sleep move disguised as a meditation method.

Bea had no psychic powers and had never learned Sleep move, so she never suspected a thing.

│ "This technique accelerates recovery — mind, stamina, even injuries."

  │ "I'll try it tonight!"

  │ "Good.

│ I'm heading back to Alola.

│ Call me when you need my signature for registration."

Bai Chen waved goodbye, and Little Nebula teleported him home.

From there, Bai Chen began preparing for his return to the Monster Hunter world.

Item number one:

Apricorn seeds.

He planned to introduce Monster Balls to the entire hunting world.

Lusamine had already given him the engineering schematics — now he just needed the materials.

Metal could be found in the monster world.

But apricorns?

Those had to be imported personally.

He gathered seven types — red, yellow, blue, green, pink, white, and black.

Each apricorn produced different ball types.

Ancient Poké Balls had been made from yellow apricorns.

But for Monster Balls…

No one in the modern world even knew which apricorn created them.

He'd have to discover it himself.

Fortunately, Lillie had already found the descendant of an apricorn craftsman — and Tinkatuff had learned the forging method.

She could now craft Poké Balls by hand.

Next, Bai Chen prepared a skill for the ancient Wyverians — a promise he'd made to Elder Yoomlana.

He needed a way for Wyverians to communicate with monsters.

After much searching, he realized the answer had been beside him the whole time:

Indeedee.

Tinkatuff had forging.

Indeedee had empathy.

Her skill — Emotion Collection — allowed her to sense feelings and gain experience from gratitude.

Given to humans, it mutated slightly into Emotional Perception,

letting Bai Chen sense emotions and communicate using emotion itself.

He removed it from his own list afterward, but it was perfect for the Wyverians:

Not full telepathy — but good enough to bond with monsters.

With Monster Balls, apricorns, and emotional communication ready…

Bai Chen breathed out.

Once he returned to the ancient tribe, he'd spread these tools — and later bring them back for the knight corps as well.

Plans complete.

Only the journey remained.
