Lily asked softly, her voice tight with strain, "Which hospital is it, Serena? And where is it?"
Her question tore through the silence of the parking lot. Serena drew a long, trembling breath; the fear of old sins was unmistakable in her eyes. "The hospital's name is St. Louis Hospital," she said quietly. "It's on the outskirts of the city… deserted and old. I chose it only so that when I gave birth, no one I knew would see me. I wanted to hide that sin from my sister—and from the world."
Lily looked at Mercy, a strange glint in her eyes—as if she had grasped some dreadful truth. "Mercy, I think we need to go to that hospital without wasting a single moment. Because, like you, my heart is screaming now that the demonic spirit inside that doll belongs to no one else but Serena's own child."
