Rodney lay on his bed, his body overcome with weakness. The room was simple, slightly cluttered: piles of books and scattered notes lay on the desk. The pleasant scent of sweet and sour citrus filled the air, creating a cozy atmosphere.
He wasn't taken by the Fish-Man. Nami, rushing to check on him, rescued him. The battle at Arlong Park attracted the attention of the Cocoyasi Villagers, and Nami decided to head there. As a member of the Arlong Pirates, she knew Arlong and his crew wouldn't harm her.
Upon arriving, Nami discovered Rodney, thinking he had been defeated. She hid him in the grass and headed to the park. To her surprise, she saw the park in ruins and Arlong's lifeless body lying among the rubble.
Could this really be the end of their long-standing nightmare? Could it really have ended so easily?
Not believing it, she cautiously approached and began stabbing Arlong's corpse with a small knife. After a few stabs, Nami was convinced the nightmare had truly ended. The nightmare she'd been dreaming about had been ended by her hand!
Sobbing loudly next to Arlong's lifeless body, Nami poured out the emotions pent up in her heart. She didn't know how long she cried until she remembered that Rodney was still hiding in the grass nearby.
Gathering all her strength, she brought him back and settled him in her room.
"Mr. Rodney, are you feeling better?" A girl with short blue hair and bronze skin entered the room, showing him great respect.
Rodney defeated Arlong, the mountain that had been oppressing many of the surrounding villages. Thanks to this, Nami, her beloved sister, no longer had to risk her life at sea, and the guilt-ridden villagers no longer had to speak ill of their beloved Nami.
And it's all thanks to Mr. Rodney.
— Miss Nojiko? My body is fine, but I can't move. —
There was no strength in Rodney's voice, as if he had been cultivating immortality for several days, expending a significant amount of chakra.
It felt similar to Hatake's condition after his battle with Zabuza Momochi. His Sharingan had been draining his chakra for a long time, and with limited mana, he'd used up most of it. Furthermore, he'd used several large-scale ninjutsu that directly drained his body of chakra, leaving him exhausted and bedridden.
This state also resembled Zabuza's "near" death, even though he died.
He was in a similar situation now. The hidden wounds on his body had worsened, and Arlong's threat was negligible compared to the damage inflicted by Koruubi. If left untreated, this dark wound could lead to complications.
"Well, then, keep resting. Do you need anything?" Nojiko asked.
- Nothing. Where is Mrs. Nami?
He had been lying there for two days now, and Nami seemed to be leading a group to dig up all the things buried under the ruins—the money stolen by the thieves.
Nojiko replied, "Nami and the others distribute the money."
- What about Arlong's head?
— As you expected, it was chopped off by the village butcher. —
"Okay, I apologize for the inconvenience." With his eyes closed and his hands immobilized, his chakra couldn't condense, rendering him temporarily powerless. From that moment on, I vowed never to expend all my chakra again.
A day later, Rodney finally regained control of his hands and, with Nojiko's help, formed a chakra seal. The chakra began to condense. After half a day, his hands began forming seals at an excruciatingly slow pace: Boar, Dog, Bird, Monkey, Ram!
From the blow of his palm on the bed, the black runes spread out like a web.
— Summoning technique! —
Boom!
White smoke rose and a blue-white slug less than a meter long appeared next to the bed.
- This is our first meeting, Master Rodney! -
The slug's voice was ethereal and gentle, reminiscent of the older sister next door. He examined Rodney's injuries and asked, "You're injured. Do you require treatment? Allow me..."
"Please heal my dark wound, even though my chakra is limited," Rodney interrupted.
"Without sufficient chakra, the healing process will be slower. However, if you don't deplete your chakra to the point where I can't sustain the psychic operation, that will be sufficient," the slug explained.
Katsuyu was more skilled at healing than the summoners at Mount Myoboku and Ryuchi Cave. However, her supernatural healing abilities required a large amount of chakra.
When Tsunade was cut in half, Katsuyu was forced to maintain the contract by healing the Five Kage, which significantly slowed the healing process. However, when Tsunade recovered, Katsuyu quickly revived her on the spot.
Katsuyu's healing ability might have been affected by the contract, but she wasn't an exceptionally strong medic, so the impact was minimal.
"That's my dilemma. Please continue," Rodney replied.
- Very good. -
Katsuyu climbed onto his body and began healing him. He instantly felt a cool sensation, as if his thirst had been quenched after a long stay in the desert. It was as if he had found an oasis and immersed himself in the water.
"My chakra..." Rodney felt his chakra recovering at an accelerated pace.
Slug explained, "Master Rodney, you've mastered the Power of a Hundred Seas, which resonates with my chakra. I will accelerate your chakra recovery. Once you master the Power of a Hundred Seas, I can transfer a small amount of chakra to you."
His chakra was beyond the capabilities of ordinary humans. The contractor could only restore a small amount of chakra, otherwise his body would collapse, potentially leading to complications.
"I'm grateful. I've regained my strength." With these words, Rodney began to concentrate his chakra again.
- Mr. Rodney, you...
"Ah!" Nojiko shrieked, her cry echoing throughout the room. Nami, barely catching her breath, shuddered, her eyes widening in horror. Both girls froze in place, petrified, staring at the slug resting serenely on Rodney's body.
Nami, trying to cope with the overwhelming fear, lightning-fast pulled out a folding staff from her four-dimensional pocket and was already swinging at the slug.
"Wait! It's not an enemy!" Rodney exclaimed, noticing Nami's intention.
Nami stopped abruptly, her gaze shifting suspiciously from Rodney to the slug.
"Please don't worry," the slug whispered, turning to the girls. "I'm treating Lord Rodney."
"Ah! A talking bug?" Nojiko and Nami exclaimed, not hiding their surprise.
While the Pirate World was home to many strange and wondrous creatures, animals capable of speech remained rare, especially in the East Blue. Nami, who had witnessed many wonders over her many years sailing the East Blue, had never encountered anything like it.
"This slug is my partner," Rodney explained. "He helps me cope with my wounds."
"I see... but the bugs... they're disgusting," Nami muttered, shuddering and rubbing the goosebumps on her skin. Like a true lady, she had her pride, though her aggressive nature and ability to stand up for herself rivaled that of the main members of the Straw Hat crew. Despite all this, however, her feminine side still lingered.
The slug's tentacles drooped slightly, as if offended by Nami's words. The girl instantly realized she'd said too much and quickly apologized.
- Sorry, I'm just a little afraid of bugs.
"It's okay," the slug reassured her. "It's not a problem."
"It would be better if there were women among the ninja, like Lady Tsunade and Sakura…" Rodney overheard the Slytherin's thoughts.
Rodney: "..." - It seemed like Katsuyu still held a grudge...
However, according to Katsuyu, she wasn't just a creature created by the system. She had a connection to the Naruto world, and the plot could almost be completed, at least halfway.
So, he could reverse the psychic link through the slime, transport himself to the Forest of Death, and from there get to Naruto's world?
