Jessica's POV
I retreated to my office afterward, desperate for solitude to collect myself. Today was the day I would finally tell Caleb everything. Regardless of the consequences, I refused to let another moment pass without honesty between us. Bailey remained a wild card, his thoughts impossible to predict. I knew with certainty he wouldn't simply disappear.
Before anything else could complicate matters, I needed to end this once and for all.
"Paisley, is Caleb available right now?" I inquired, knowing she managed his entire schedule.
"Yes," she replied without pausing her typing. "His last meeting wrapped up a short while ago."
I rose from my chair, drawing in a steadying breath. "Wish me luck, Paisley," I murmured while heading toward the door.
"Luck isn't necessary," came her immediate response. "Your fears are groundless."
"God, I hope so."
The elevator ride to his floor felt endless as I fought against the urge to smooth my shirt obsessively.
