Chapter 45: The Fifty-Meter Golden Greatsword
"Cow kid, are you sure you didn't wake up half-asleep and see it wrong?" (TL/N: Cow kid originally named as Niuwazi in RAW, Niu as in Cow, Wazi as in baby, child or kid. Hence Cow kid.)
The middle-aged man named Uncle Dong immediately burst out laughing. "An immortal fate? If such a thing really existed, how come no one's ever heard of it?"
The people beside him, who were reading the latest chapter of the comic, also joined in the laughter.
"Exactly! That so-called Golden Light Spell, I bet it's all made up. If it were real, why haven't we seen it ourselves?"
"Yeah, if the technique really worked, why don't the Liyue Qixing know the Golden Light Spell?"
Faced with everyone's skepticism, Cow kid's face turned red. He swore he wasn't mistaken. Just as the young man was about to defend himself, two Millelith soldiers happened to pass by nearby.
"You mean it's true? Someone actually used the Golden Light Spell near Wangshu Inn yesterday?"
"Why would I lie? Didn't you see all the guys from Squad Three lining up to buy the comic? We might not be worthy to possess a Vision, but if we can learn the Golden Light Spell, we can still become stronger, right?"
"Good point. Techniques can be cultivated; a Vision can't."
Though the two spoke quietly, everyone nearby could hear them clearly.
Only after the two Millelith soldiers left did Cow kid proudly say, "See? I wasn't lying. Someone really learned the Golden Light Spell!"
Everyone exchanged stunned looks. Uncle Dong pursed his lips and said in shock, "So there really is an immortal fate!"
He lowered his head and hurriedly flipped through the comic in his hands, trying to find the cultivation method for the Golden Light Spell within its pages.
Not just Uncle Dong, everyone at the scene started studying it earnestly.
Those who hadn't managed to buy the latest chapter rushed to queue up like madmen.
What if they, too, had the fortune of immortal fate? Then they could ascend to the heavens in one leap.
Meanwhile, in other parts of the city, the legend of someone mastering the Golden Light Spell began to spread.
Some claimed to have seen a fifty-meter golden greatsword descend from the sky.
Others said the golden light turned into a massive hammer that destroyed monsters.
Some even claimed the golden light transformed into a rainstorm that blanketed the heavens.
In any case, Liyue Harbor was destined not to be peaceful today.
...
On a certain street corner.
Chongyun saw everyone spreading news that someone had mastered the Golden Light Spell and couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief. This meant he had completed the mission Mr. Su had assigned him.
But then he remembered, he had only manifested the golden light three times, and only at the most basic stage of its glow.
So why were people saying something about a fifty-meter golden greatsword?
He clearly didn't know how to do that.
Chongyun frowned in confusion before realizing, it must have been Su Han himself who acted.
Only he could wield such a powerful Golden Light Spell.
After their dinner yesterday, Su Han had called Chongyun aside and given him a task, to perform the Golden Light Spell outside Liyue City.
But the young exorcist, who had only just obtained the technique, naturally couldn't manage it.
Yet Su Han had smiled and said, "Can't do it? Then I'll teach you."
With Su Han's guidance, it took Chongyun only two hours to fully enter the introductory stage. After all, the boy already had cultivation.
But upon meeting Su Han in person, Chongyun truly realized how terrifying this man was.
Though he seemed harmless in everyday life, the power he concealed was as deep and unfathomable as the Sea of Clouds.
Inside the Northland Bank.
Tartaglia rested his chin on one hand as he looked over the intelligence his subordinate had brought, chuckling.
"You're saying someone learned the Golden Light Spell from a comic?"
"Yes, my lord. The report comes from our agents stationed outside the city at Outpost Thirteen. They claim a young man used golden light to coat his weapon and easily crushed a monster."
The subordinate presented a photograph to Tartaglia. Because it had been taken at night, the golden light in the image was dazzling, so bright it looked just like something out of a comic.
This evidence alone was enough to suggest the Golden Light Spell truly existed.
Unfortunately, the light was too intense to identify the person who had cast it.
Tartaglia studied the photo for a moment, then smirked.
"How amusing. I didn't expect the Golden Light Spell to actually exist. If I ever get the chance, I'd love to see whether his golden light is stronger than my Foul Legacy."
"Tell the men to keep investigating, and have them watch for anyone in the city who suddenly becomes stronger.
"Oh, and about the Forbidden Scroll of a Hundred Taboos, still no leads? Don't tell me you've forgotten about it."
The man had thought his intelligence report would earn praise, but to his dismay, Tartaglia still remembered the matter of the Forbidden Scroll. The truth was, he had found no clues at all.
He looked up into Tartaglia's cold eyes, his heart turning to ice. He immediately knelt and begged for mercy.
"My lord, please, give me a little more time. I swear I'll—"
A sharp splash!
A jet of water pierced through the agent's abdomen, striking the floor behind him. Blood spilled from his robes and spread across the ground.
Despite his wound, the man did not cry out.
Tartaglia snorted coldly. "Don't think I don't know what you're trying to do. Next time you try to fool me with vague, worthless information, start digging your own grave. I have no use for useless trash.
"Remember this forever: Her Majesty's orders are above all else."
"Yes… my lord."
The man coughed up blood and staggered out of the room.
Only after he had gone did Tartaglia pick up the comic lying on his desk, the newest chapter. Thinking about the report he'd just received, he couldn't help but chuckle.
"Could there really be cultivation methods hidden in this thing? Somehow, it feels like someone's just playing tricks."
Though skeptical, waiting for information on the Forbidden Scroll was unbearably dull.
He was idle anyway, might as well pass the time reading.
The story picked up from the previous chapter.
The Old Heavenly Master versus the fourteen members of Quanxing.
Among them was one of the Two Great Heroes, Ding Shian.
But even with such a grand lineup, to the Old Heavenly Master, they were nothing more than chickens and dogs.
Golden light erupted.
Everyone nearby retreated in fear, some lost their arms, some their sight. Ding Shian, the so-called Hero, was seized by the throat, but the Old Heavenly Master had no intent to kill. After Ding Shian lost consciousness, he released his grip.
Most terrifying of all, throughout the entire battle, the Old Heavenly Master didn't even break a sweat.
Tartaglia felt his blood boiling as he read, exclaiming, "What a powerful cultivator! If only he were real. Even if I were branded a bully of old men, I'd still want to challenge him."
The pinnacle of the Awakened world, just a glimpse of his strength was awe-inspiring. Yet his true power remained a mystery.
In the end, Gong Qing's death marked the close of the Heavenly Master's pursuit of Quanxing.
The new arc, however, was somewhat dull.
At least to Tartaglia, it wasn't very interesting, mostly about the appearance of the Eight Miraculous Skills, stirring others' curiosity, and Zhang Chulan and the others stepping in to resolve it. But at the end of Volume Five, a new story began.
Its name: Biyou Village.
In this arc, a new character appeared.
He not only possessed incredible forging techniques but could also control puppets in battle.
Seeing this, Tartaglia couldn't help but laugh. "He really reminds me of a rather unpleasant colleague. I wonder if Sandrone would take an interest in this Ma Xianhong fellow."
