Time rewinds to a few hours earlier.
Yaoyao arrived at her master's residence. Seeing the courtyard overrun with weeds, she immediately offered to help clean up. In just a short while, the place was neat and tidy again.
"Phew."
The little girl wiped the sweat from her forehead. Just as she was about to ask if her master needed any further help, a delicate plate of pastries appeared before her.
Yaoyao's eyes sparkled in surprise. "Master, is this for me?"
"Mhm, eat up. These osmanthus cakes came from Wanmin Hall, they were just delivered this morning."
While Granny Ping was making porridge, she looked at her disciple with a warm, kindly smile.
After working for quite a while, the little girl was already starving. She washed her hands and eagerly began to taste them. The pastries from Wanmin Hall were unique in all of Liyue, each bite filled her mouth with a rich, fragrant osmanthus aroma.
Yaoyao took another bite and said with a smile, "Master, this tastes so good! Did you buy it today?"
"No, this old woman hasn't gone out much lately. These were sent over by your big brother next door, Su Han."
Following her master's gesture, Yaoyao looked toward the neighboring house. The name sounded so familiar.
Even people in Qingce Village had mentioned it before.
Tilting her head in thought, her eyes suddenly lit up, she finally remembered who he was.
"Master, I remember now! That big brother Su Han, isn't he the author of those comics? The other masters said his work is amazing! I read some too, but there were parts I didn't really understand.
Do you think I could go visit him?"
Someone even the immortal masters praised must be truly extraordinary.
Since she couldn't understand the story fully, why not ask the author directly? That should work perfectly!
Granny Ping chuckled. "Of course you can. That big brother really likes children. He'll definitely be happy if you visit."
Getting her master's permission, the little girl finished eating and drinking, then grabbed the gift she'd prepared and left the courtyard.
The guards at the gate, learning she was from Granny Ping's side, naturally treated her with respect.
But when Yaoyao reached the second floor, she discovered that the so-called amazing big brother was… taking a nap.
So she waited, and waited.
And waited for three whole hours.
Not until noon did Su Han finally stretch and wake up, only to find a rosy-cheeked little girl standing before him.
She wore a light green short jacket, her lovely brown hair braided and tied into a butterfly bun atop her head. Her big, bright eyes gleamed with joy the moment he opened his eyes.
"Ah! Big Brother Su Han, you're awake! Do you want to wash your face? I already prepared some water and a towel for you!"
Before he could reply, the little girl brought out the basin she had ready.
The water was still warm; the towel freshly washed.
She even prepared a pot of tea in case he got thirsty.
So thoughtful it almost melted his heart.
Su Han soon realized, the little girl before him must be Granny Ping's disciple, Yaoyao!
Though young, she was remarkably considerate and well-mannered.
He'd never felt much while playing the game before, but now he finally understood why everyone loved Yaoyao, she was simply the perfect little sweetheart.
Of course, Klee And Qiqi are adorable too.
"So you're Yaoyao? You went to all this trouble, thank you."
Su Han smiled as he took the basin.
Yaoyao quickly waved her small hands. "Grandma said big brother is a famous comic artist and works very hard. If you're sleeping this late, it must be because you stayed up drawing last night. Next time I go out, I'll bring you some medicine that helps you stay awake. That way you won't feel sleepy!"
"Cough.. no, that's really not necessary."
Working nonstop without sleep? That sounded worse than a Palworld creature's life!
Besides, he'd only been sleeping because he was lazy, not from overwork.
Yaoyao giggled. "It's fine, it's fine. I'm not busy anyway. Big brother, do you have time? I've been reading Under One Person, but there are many parts I don't understand. Could you explain some of it to me?
Master said your comics are very helpful for cultivation. But I'm still young, so I don't get everything, I just find the story interesting."
"No problem. But… have you eaten yet?"
"Yaoyao… hasn't eaten yet. When I came this morning, you were still sleeping, so I waited until now. But I brought some preserved rations with me, I can eat those if I get hungry.
Would you like to try some?
They taste really good!"
The little girl rubbed her belly, feeling a bit hungry, but remembering that big brother must be hungry too, she took out her emergency rations.
At first, Su Han was going to refuse, he didn't really like radishes. But when Yaoyao placed the cute snacks before him, he saw they were carved into tiny rabbit shapes, giving off a fragrant vinegar aroma mixed with a hint of herbs.
Just smelling them made his appetite surge.
He picked up a slice and tasted it. It was crisp and refreshing, better than any pickled vegetable he'd ever had.
Even Wanmin Hall didn't make radishes this good.
He ate one slice, then another.
The crunchy texture and light spiciness made it impossible to stop.
By the time he reached for more and found none, all of Yaoyao's rations had vanished.
Su Han blushed and scratched his head. "Sorry… those radishes were just too delicious."
"No, it's fine! If you liked them, I can make another batch for you this evening!"
The little girl didn't mind at all. For her, having someone she admired enjoy her cooking was pure happiness.
But as she spoke, her stomach betrayed her with a loud rumble.
Gurgle.
The unexpected sound made Su Han pause, then laugh. "Come on, Yaoyao. Big brother will treat you to lunch today, after all, I ate your food. Let's go to Wanmin Hall for a feast."
"Wow, really? But… Mom said Wanmin Hall is expensive. Maybe we can just eat at a street stall instead? Their noodles are delicious and very filling."
Her eyes had lit up instantly at the mention of Wanmin Hall, but soon she recalled how pricey her senior sister's restaurant was.
Eating something that fancy right after meeting someone felt rude.
So she chose a cheap yet tasty option—the noodle stall on the street.
Su Han squatted down to meet her gaze. "Big brother's a VIP at Wanmin Hall, it doesn't cost me anything."
"Ah? Doesn't cost anything? That's… stealing a meal! That's not right!"
Hearing that made Yaoyao panic even more.
Su Han burst out laughing and quickly explained the situation. Once she understood, the little girl finally relaxed.
Still, one thing was certain, Yaoyao was just too adorable.
