Chapter 9 - The Company Trip… and the Shared Room Disaster

Every year, the company arranged a short two-day trip to relax and "build team spirit."

Most employees called it something else:

"Two days where everyone becomes crazier."

This year, they were going to a mountain resort with hot springs.

Beautiful scenery.

Private rooms.

Peaceful environment.

Perfect for rest.

Perfect for chaos.

---

The Bus Ride

The bus was full of chatter.

But Xiaoyu sat quietly, headphones on, pretending to watch the scenery but actually watching one person:

Li Junhao.

Their CEO, forced to sit in the employee bus because "it boosts team unity."

He looked…

Uncomfortable.

Stiff.

A poor man trapped in a zoo exhibit.

Chen Mei leaned over to Xiaoyu.

"He keeps glancing at you."

"Stop imagining things."

"Imagining? He literally just looked here! Look!"

Xiaoyu peeked.

He did look her way.

Only for a second.

But long enough to make her heart jump.

She quickly looked away.

---

Arrival at the Resort

The check-in process was smooth until it wasn't.

The receptionist said politely:

"Your rooms are ready. Please check on the list."

Everyone found their room number easily.

Except one pair.

"Room 308: Li Junhao & Lin Xiaoyu."

The room fell silent.

Then exploded.

"THEY'RE SHARING?!"

"Is this the plot of a romance drama?"

"I knew it! I told you they're dating!"

"I bet they planned this—"

"WE DIDN'T!" Xiaoyu shouted instantly.

Junhao calmly turned to the receptionist.

"There is a mistake."

The receptionist frowned.

"Let me check…

Sir, we're fully booked. All other rooms are taken."

Xiaoyu almost fainted.

Chen Mei whispered:

"Congratulations. This is the universe's gift. Take it."

Xiaoyu whispered back:

"Return the gift."

But there was no solution.

They had to share the room.

---

The room was beautiful.

Wooden floors, soft lighting, a balcony facing the mountains...

And one bed.

One large bed.

Xiaoyu's soul left her body.

"I—uh—I can sleep on the floor," she blurted.

Junhao raised an eyebrow.

"Do I look like the kind of man who would let you sleep on the floor?"

"I'm small! I don't take much space!"

"No."

"Then what do we do?"

"The bed is big enough. We can divide it with pillows."

"Oh."

Her brain turned into warm soup.

---

Trouble

That night, Xiaoyu stayed on her side, stiff like a frozen fish.

On the other side, Junhao read a book calmly.

"Can't sleep?" he asked softly.

"No."

"Because I'm here?"

"NO— I mean— yes— I mean— maybe— I mean— can we skip this question?"

He chuckled — a low, warm sound that made her toes curl.

"Relax. It's just a room."

"Easy for you to say," she whispered.

"You don't have a crush on—"

She slapped a hand over her mouth.

Too late.

Junhao slowly lowered his book.

"Crush on… who?"

"Goodnight!" she squeaked, diving under the blanket like a scared turtle.

He watched her for a long moment, his eyes softer than she had ever seen.

"Xiaoyu," he said quietly, "we will talk about that… later."

Her heart nearly exploded.

Morning Disaster

When Xiaoyu woke up, she realized two things:

1. The pillow wall had collapsed.

2. Her head was on Junhao's shoulder.

3. His arm was around her waist.

Okay, that was three things.

All terrible.

And wonderful.

Before she could escape, he opened his eyes.

"Good morning," he said softly.

Her soul evaporated.

She jumped up so fast she nearly fell off the bed.

"I—I—this—sleep—wall—gravity—sorry—bye—!"

She ran into the bathroom and slammed the door.

Junhao sat up, touching the spot where she had slept on his shoulder.

A small smile formed.

"She really does like me."
