Chapter 32 - Chapter 32: Rescue possible?

Under everyone's careful care, Inaba Tsukiyo's cold quickly got better.

When her cold had just recovered, Inaba Tsukiyo was ready to go out to check the situation, but she was rejected by the others, who told her to rest well for these two days.

It had been a few days since they came out of the basement. Although the school had a large number of zombies, under Inaba Tsukiyo's power, in just two days, they had almost been cleared.

The power supply facilities were still providing electricity normally. It seemed that Naoki Miki had opened the defense measures very timely, so that the power supply facilities did not have too many problems.

Since there was nothing wrong with the school's power supply, then they didn't need to leave this safe stronghold. They just needed to retake the school.

Over the next few days, Inaba Tsukiyo, Kurumi, Tendo Ri-se, and Shitodo Kei focused on clearing out zombies, while the others were responsible for cleaning.

The zombie corpses were taken outside the school for cremation; although this would create a lot of smoke, it was the best option compared to the spread of disease.

Besides this, Inaba Tsukiyo also went to an outside tool shop to find a very important item.

The teaching building's iron gate had been completely destroyed, and other tools were needed to reinforce the gate's protection.

Other than welding, Inaba Tsukiyo couldn't think of anything stronger than an iron gate that would be more useful.

However, Inaba Tsukiyo's current situation clearly prevented her from doing this work, so she could only push this heavy task onto others.

Although it was a bit difficult, Kurumi and Takenouchi Yuki were very understanding girls, and they were very interested in welding, playing around with the welding helmet.

Despite the challenging project, everyone learned how to weld and spent a few days finding iron bars to reinforce the teaching building's main entrance.

At first, Sakura Megumi was a bit worried about how they would deal with these iron bars if Kyonohoka Academy reopened after the situation was resolved.

It was originally just a silent complaint, but Tendo Ri-se seriously told Sakura Megumi that laser technology could be used to cut the welded iron bars.

After the task of welding the iron bars was completed, Inaba Tsukiyo also had everyone push the iron bars from outside with maximum force to see if there was any loosening.

But the iron bars were perfectly fine, tightly welded to the wall; unless these zombies tore down the wall along with them, no matter how much it rained, these zombies wouldn't be able to get in.

The welding work exhausted everyone, and they went to bed early that night, sleeping until morning.

After confirming the school was basically safe, Inaba Tsukiyo prepared to go outside the school; she was really too curious about the Randall Company.

Before that, Inaba Tsukiyo planned to visit the police station to see if there was anything useful there.

After everyone fell asleep, Inaba Tsukiyo, alone, put on her backpack and left the school without anyone noticing.

Speaking of the police station, since the disaster broke out, there had been no sign of the police, let alone any rescue.

Moreover, in the past few days, they hadn't heard any sounds of gunfire; although Megurigaoka City wasn't small, not hearing any gunfire for several days was very abnormal, no matter how you looked at it.

"Could it be that the army has already fallen? Or is the whole world engulfed in a zombie outbreak crisis? Is that why the army hasn't noticed this place?"

If it was truly just Megurigaoka City experiencing a zombie disaster, then other areas would surely have noticed the anomaly here long ago, and reporters would definitely appear with helicopters to gather the most useful information.

Of course, the "Emergency Evacuation Manual for Employees" mentioned that this zombie virus was a bacterial and viral weapon still in the research stage. However, the most important parts were blacked out.

Furthermore, the first few pages meticulously stated that there should be no leniency or, that these were no longer virtues in the current environment, and a small number of sacrifices were unavoidable for human survival.

"Wait a minute... Most people clearly anticipated a potential disaster, but they didn't anticipate the disaster would cause such severe consequences. The reason why there's been no rescue and no sign of the army during this time..."

"It's because this disaster was completely man-made. It was intentional."

No one could accept this idea; even if there were more zombies, it wouldn't matter, but if all this disaster wasn't an accident but man-made, then the nature of it completely changed.

Inaba Tsukiyo walked alone on the street, and occasional low growls told her there were many hidden zombies in this place.

Inaba Tsukiyo's mind wasn't on these zombies at all; if this disaster was truly created by the government, then Megurigaoka City might have already been sealed off.

The so-called army didn't have any problems; instead, they set up checkpoints near the exits to prevent the virus from Megurigaoka City from leaking out.

"If that's truly the case, then the school isn't a safe zone. Or rather, no building on the ground is a safe zone."

According to the government's approach, once the necessary data was obtained, this experiment would no longer need to continue.

To prevent the zombie virus from leaking out, what they would do is conduct a massive purge of the city, creating the illusion of a large explosion.

With a heavy heart, following the memories in her mind, Inaba Tsukiyo arrived outside a police station closest to the academy.

The police station was eerily quiet; even Inaba Tsukiyo didn't hear any sounds, only seeing several zombies wandering outside.

Judging by the situation at the entrance, the police station was very desolate, as if it had been occupied by zombies.

Without much hesitation, after dealing with the zombies outside, Inaba Tsukiyo first went to the parking lot outside the police station.

Several police cars were parked there, and there were also already dead zombies nearby; judging by their clothing, they should have been police officers from the station.

After confirming these zombies were dead, Inaba Tsukiyo began searching their bodies for guns, but to her disappointment, other than batons, there were no guns.

Not only were there no guns on the zombies, but there were also no weapons inside the police station; in such a crisis, police officers should have had weapons on them.

Did they leave their weapons inside the police station and were attacked by zombies before they had a chance to retrieve them?

She wasn't very clear about what exactly happened here, but Inaba Tsukiyo decided to go inside the police station first, as such a place should have relatively important supplies.

Gently pushing open the half-closed door, the bloodstains inside had already congealed, and the eerie atmosphere made the police station look like a horror movie set.

The moment the door opened, several zombies blocking the entrance lunged at Inaba Tsukiyo; besides these zombies, Inaba Tsukiyo also heard at least ten or more zombies wandering inside.

Due to the limited space, she couldn't use wide, sweeping slashes, but dealing with these zombies was still very easy.

To avoid attracting too many zombies, Inaba Tsukiyo moved very slowly; she wanted to find where weapons were stored to enhance the strength of everyone in the School Life Club.

Although sometimes firearms only make situations more complicated, as long as everyone in the school is on their side and no one is infected, there won't be any hesitation about unexpected situations occurring.

The police station wasn't very large; after checking the First floor, Inaba Tsukiyo went to the second floor, and in a room further inside, she finally found usable firearms.

However, there weren't many usable firearms here, and most of them were handguns, without high-damage firearms like submachine guns or rifles.

But then again, submachine guns and rifles wouldn't likely appear in a police station; it wasn't a European police station, how could an Asian police station have such high-level equipment.

Nevertheless, finding these firearms was already very useful, and there were over a hundred rounds of ammunition, enough for everyone to use for a while.

Putting these firearms into the backpack she carried, this mission was basically accomplished.

The reason for coming to find guns this time, besides arming everyone in the School Life Club, was mainly due to the special zombie from last time.

That special zombie was killed by Tendo Ri-se's model gun; although Inaba Tsukiyo had already inflicted fatal damage on the zombie, firearms were also effective against these special zombies.

These special zombies would definitely appear at the Randall Company, in addition to Nishikowa Elementary School.

If they encountered multiple special zombies at the Randall Company, firearms could temporarily suppress these guys for a while.

As a soldier, Tendo Ri-se was very knowledgeable about firearms; letting her teach everyone how to use firearms for self-defense would suffice.

"Hmm? What is this... a sound?"

Inaba Tsukiyo, who was very sensitive to sound, suddenly heard an electrical signal, a feeling like a broadcast sound.

Putting down her backpack, Inaba Tsukiyo fumbled around the room for a long time before finding a button under the office desk.

"Is the sound coming from this place? Has the police station's power not stopped yet?"

This device was like an alarm system in a bank.

Just pressing this button will silently trigger an alarm.

"Pressing this button... it might draw the military's attention to this place. However... Randall Company's situation..."

Even if a rescue team did come, she still had to go to Randall Company to check. The key to completing this mission, that special energy, was an uncertain factor that could destroy the world. If the military intervened, it might make the situation worse.

But... even if those troops appeared, what then?

She didn't need to consider anything. Although recovering that energy was a mandatory mission, the mission to save everyone came before the recovery mission.

She was already very satisfied with the time she had spent with everyone.

There were... no more regrets.

Thinking this, Inaba Tsukiyo pressed the button without hesitation, sending a signal to an unknown location.
