After a series of arduous "struggles," Theresa finally, relying on her relentless perseverance and Kael's subtle guilt, successfully secured a full day of Kael's exclusive "playtime" for herself!
Although... it came with a small, purple "third wheel."
But Theresa was already very satisfied! To be able to go out alone with Kael... uh, it grudgingly counted as alone! It was better than watching him stick to that little brat at headquarters!
So, on a sunny rest day, perfect for an outing, Theresa gleefully pulled Kael along, while Kael held Sirin's hand, who was still a bit timid and clung tightly to him. They appeared at the entrance of the large Haxxor Bunny-themed amusement park attached to the headquarters.
"Wow! Kael, look! So many new attractions have been added!" Theresa pointed at the park map, as excited as a real child, her white pigtails swinging with her movements. "We're going to try every single attraction today!"
Sirin looked at the noisy scene before her, filled with crowds of people, cheerful music, and exaggerated cartoon characters, and subconsciously shrank behind Kael, her small hand gripping his fingers tightly, her golden eyes filled with unease.
It was much noisier here than the park, with strangers and loud sounds everywhere.
Kael felt her nervousness, squatted down, and gently comforted her: "Don't be afraid, Sirin, everyone here is just playing, it's very safe. Brother will be with you the whole time."
Seeing this, Theresa, though a little sour inside, knew she couldn't scare the child. She suppressed her impatient feelings, leaned over, and said in as friendly a tone as possible: "That's right, Sirin, amusement parks are so much fun! There are carousels, Ferris wheels, and... uh..."
She couldn't immediately think of any other gentle attractions suitable for children.
Kael smiled, pointing at the dreamily decorated carousel not far away: "Shall we go on that first? It's not scary."
Sirin followed his finger and saw the beautifully carved wooden horses, rising and falling, shimmering with a soft glow under the lights. They indeed looked less frightening.
She hesitated for a moment, then nodded gently.
While waiting in line, Sirin stayed close to Kael, casting wary glances at the curious children around her who were staring at her hair color and eyes.
Theresa, on the other hand, stood on Kael's other side, trying to discuss what exciting ride they should go on next.
On the carousel, Kael held Sirin as they sat on a white unicorn, while Theresa chose a red steed next to them.
The music started, and the wooden horses began to slowly rotate, rising and falling.
Sirin was very nervous at first, her small hands gripping the bar in front of her tightly, but as the horses gently swayed and the dreamy atmosphere enveloped them, she gradually relaxed, even cautiously reaching out a small hand to touch the unicorn's mane. Kael looked down at her slightly upturned lips and the curiosity sparkling in her eyes, his heart filled with tenderness.
Theresa watched Kael attentively caring for Sirin. Though a little jealous, seeing Sirin's rare, innocent childlike expression, her slight displeasure dissipated somewhat.
She made a funny face at Kael, then happily waved to him as the carousel turned.
After getting off the carousel, Theresa's sharp eyes spotted a cotton candy stall and immediately pulled Kael over: "Kael! I want that cloud-like one!"
Kael bought one for her and one for Sirin; Theresa's was pink, and Sirin's was white.
Theresa took the cotton candy, took a big, bold bite, and squinted her eyes in satisfaction.
Sirin, on the other hand, mimicked Kael, licking it in small bites, the sweet taste making her eyes light up slightly.
Next, Theresa set her sights on the more thrilling bumper cars.
"This looks fun! Kael! Let's go crash into other people together!" Theresa rubbed her hands together, eager to try.
Kael looked at the bumper cars crashing and banging around the arena, and then looked at Sirin with some concern. Sirin's small face again showed fear as she watched the wildly colliding cars.
"If Sirin is scared, how about you wait for us on the side?" Kael asked softly.
Sirin immediately shook her head, her small hand clutching his clothes.
Kael sighed helplessly and had to take her with him. He chose a two-seater bumper car, had Sirin sit next to him, and buckled her seatbelt.
Theresa drove her own car, charging into the arena like a small cannonball.
At first, Kael just drove slowly with Sirin around the edges, letting her get used to it.
But Theresa didn't care about that; she drove straight towards them, crashing into the back of their car with a "bang."
"Haha! Kael! Take that!" Theresa laughed triumphantly.
Sirin was startled by the collision and instinctively hugged Kael's arm.
Kael looked at Theresa's "arrogant" demeanor and felt a competitive spirit rise within him. He smiled and said to Sirin: "Hold on tight, Sirin, we're going to crash into Sister Theresa too."
He adjusted his direction and chased after Theresa's car. Sirin was initially scared, but feeling the strength from Kael's arm and his steady control, as well as the slight thrill of the chase, she slowly lifted her head, looking ahead with a mix of nervousness and anticipation.
Theresa didn't expect Kael to fight back and shrieked as she tried to dodge, but Kael's driving skills were clearly superior, and several precise collisions sent Theresa's car spinning in place.
"Unfair! Kael, you're bullying me!" Theresa wailed.
Just then, another small car, which Theresa had previously crashed into, saw Theresa being "punished" by Kael and seized the opportunity to join the fray, forming a temporary "alliance" with Kael to gang up on Theresa.
Kael & Mysterious Small Car: An Unbreakable Alliance!
Theresa was caught in a pincer attack, spun around dizzyingly, and wailed in frustration, but her face wore a look of pure exhilaration.
Sirin looked at Theresa's disheveled yet happy appearance, and couldn't help but let her lips curl upwards slightly, revealing a very faint, almost imperceptible smile.
After a round of bumper cars, Theresa, though she took the most hits, had the most fun.
Kael looked at Sirin, who was still quiet but whose eyes had brightened a little, and felt that the trip was worthwhile.
After a morning of playing, all three were a bit hungry. The park's restaurants were packed, and they finally managed to find a corner table.
Theresa, holding the menu, enthusiastically ordered a signature "Super Blazing Volcano Burger Combo," specifically emphasizing double spicy sauce.
Then she ordered a regular steak combo for Kael.
When it was Sirin's turn, she looked at the colorful menu, a little overwhelmed. Kael ordered her a children's meal, which included cute animal-shaped rice balls, fried chicken nuggets, and a vegetable salad, with milk as the drink.
When the food arrived, Theresa's eyes lit up at the sight of the burger, drenched in thick red spicy sauce and seemingly on fire. She eagerly took a big bite, then gasped from the spice, yet her face was full of satisfaction: "Hiss... So good!"
Kael looked at her, shook his head helplessly, and pushed his glass of ice water towards her.
Sirin, meanwhile, ate her animal rice balls in small bites, casting a curious yet fearful glance at Theresa's fiery red burger.
Kael carefully helped her mix the dressing in her salad and picked out the carrots she didn't like into his own plate.
Sirin quietly accepted his care, occasionally looking up at Kael, then at Theresa across from them, who was eating with abandon and pure enjoyment. A trace of imperceptible confusion flickered in her golden eyes.
This white-haired big sister seemed completely different from Brother, but Brother... seemed very tolerant of her too?
Lunch concluded with the stark contrast between Theresa's boisterousness and Sirin's quiet obedience.
Theresa wiped her mouth with satisfaction, already planning which more thrilling rides to tackle in the afternoon.
And Sirin, though still clinging tightly to Kael, seemed to have reduced her fear of the amusement park a little after a morning of adaptation.
At least, when walking through the crowd holding Kael's hand, she no longer trembled as she had at first.
Kael looked at the two distinctly different girls beside him, one like a blazing sun, the other like quiet moonlight, and was filled with emotion.
This amusement park trip, though far from the two-person world he had envisioned, seemed... to have a unique flavor of its own.
Of course, it would have been even better without that purple third wheel!!!
